My best friend moved to Paris after she was chosen along with 15 others to attend a prestigious graduate school where she could begin the necessary studies to become a "nose." Unsurprisingly she's surrounded by scents all day and they often have to be tested on human skin. As a result she has developed a serious skin sensitivity (literally a mosquito bite can turn into an infected medical emergency). Isn't that scary!? How disturbing that there are so many chemicals and irritants in the perfume world that too much exposure can cause this! Needless to say I was curious about Honore des Pres -- a new line of Ecocert-supported organic, 100% natural perfumes -- which Bergdorf Goodman recently introduced. The founder of Honore des Pres worked with Robertet, a perfume manufacture renowned for his stock of natural ingredients, and given the line's certification, the formulation of these perfumes use only botanical ingredients produced using organic farming methods, there are no petrochemical products or synthetic perfumes, the formulations are free of coloring agents and phthalates, are produced without animal testing or ingredients of animal origin and contain no elements which are known to aggress the skin. As for the perfumer who would accept the challenge of creating the actual organic perfumes - they turned to Olivia Giacobetti (she has worked with Diptyque and Guerlain among many others). Jump for more on the scents!

Love Chanel No. 5 so much you just want to bath in it? Now you can, Chanel has just introduced the No. 5 Milk Bath. It is perfect for Mother's Day since I think your mom is tired of getting perfume year after year. Well, I think the sons have no idea what else to get so that's the only thing they can think of. My husband has been getting perfume for his mom for 20 years now, she has an entire display of all the perfumes on her counter in the bathroom. I'm like, "Don't you think she has enough perfume? How much perfume do you think she needs?". I know, it's just the thought. Well, now that I am a mom and starting to have senior moments, I am ready for the perfume and milk bath set! At Chanel counters for $62.

Jo Malone addicts (that would be me) can add two new fragrances to their wish list, "Lotus Blossom & Water Lily" and "Dark Amber & Ginger Lily". This May, Jo Malone will introduce the limited edition Kohdo Wood Collection-- a modern interpretation of Kohdo, the ancient Japanese art of incense Appreciation. I got samples of both and the scents are divine. I do like the "Lotus blossom & Water Lily" better of the two-- there is a tinge of sandalwood and temple incense (which reminds me of my grandmother) mixed with sweet florals of honeysuckle, water lily, jasmine and freesia which balance the muskiness. At first the "Dark Amber & Ginger Lily" seemed the sweeter of the two. The night blooming jasmine, water lily, and rose come across as strong as the pink pepper and ginger top notes. But then the base notes of leather and patchouli mixed with sandalwood and kyara incense come through which is very sexy, especially in the candle ($65). 3.4 oz cologne is $100, 1 oz is $55. All at Jo Malone.com
Vintage Gardenia is of course my all time favorite Jo Malone scent (I'm so obsessed I actually have the candle burning right now, just used the body creme and about to spritz on the cologne before I leave the house) but these two will be added to my repertoire for layering and combining which I love to do.

Experience the dynamic new Bond No. 9 Brooklyn and receive free shipping! The latest in the New York city scent series captures the Vibe of the Edgy New Brooklyn--Home to Artists, Bloggers, & Creative Types (and my friend Ginny!). It's a very fresh and modern scent that I think both men and women will love. I'm more of a floral scent girl but I have friends who don't want a sweet scent-- this would be the one for them! It's a woody, spicy-filled oriental scent that mingles cardamom, geranium leaves, and cedarwood while grapefruit and juniper leaves accelerate the scent, and South American guaiacwood and leather top it off. At Saks fifth avenue or shop at Bond No. 9 site for free shipping.

Chance, one of the most popular Chanel scents is now available in a super moisturizing body cream and shower gel. I am usually not one to use heavily perfumed shower gels or body lotions because I don't like competing with my perfume but Chance has a such a subtle and fresh floral scent that I gave it a chance (really, no pun intended). I've been using this for weeks now and I love the body cream. It's a bit expensive at $75 a jar but it can replace your current perfume and body lotion (so it's like two for one). It's super rich and creamy-- a little bit leaves my skin soft and yummy all day. Let's see, it's 11pm as I write this and I took a shower this morning at 10am. 13 hours later, I can still smell the delicious scent of Chance. It's not overpowering though, just a very fresh scent that blends well with my Creed perfume. I'd skip the shower gel, splurge on the body lotion and be your own Valentine! At Chanel.com and Chanel counters worldwide.
Chance is a sensual, sweet and spicy scent. The top notes are Hyacinth, White Musk and Pink Pepper. Middle notes are Fresh Vetiver and Iris and the base notes are Amber and Patchouli.

Don't Laugh!!! I was gifted this perfume for Christmas, and the first thing I thought of was "Who could I regift this to?". But I first decided to smell it to affirm how bad I thought it would be, to my surprise, I LOVED IT!! Paris Hilton's Can Can is so delicious and sweet that I had several compliments on it the very first time I wore it. It smells like something between fresh baked cupcakes and fresh snow, and is the perfect scent for winter! This has become my favorite perfume as of late, and I can't get enough of it ;) ...So for anyone looking for something to warm up the sense in the coming month, this is the ideal scent for the ski lodge and hot cocoa!

Since I've had my babies I have been unable to wear perfume, there is something about all those scents mixing in my system that just makes me feel ill. And things that used to smell good to me no longer does, my entire olfactory has been altered. And for some reason, all fragrances smell the same, there are 3 general scents that they all fit into: musky, floral and sweet. Recently, I discovered Neil Morris Fragrances that has perked my nose. These are truly original scents that has refreshed my system and made me want to wear perfume again. He recently made a new scent for Takashimaya New York, and if you know anything about Takashimaya it is that they distinguish themselves with their unique collection. Each scent has a story behind it and where the inspiration came from, like for "Storm" - "I remember the sudden stillness and "smell" of the storm - ozone in the air - that charged the scent of everything around me. The aftermath left the flowers, sand, earth and trees wet and incredibly fragrant." So beautiful, descriptive and stirs the imagination. My favorite scent is called "Clear", it has hints of grapefruit and linden blossom, it is like the name says, it is clean, refreshing and light with a bit of floral but not overpowering and the grapefruit is obviously not too sweet but gives a good crispness and tang. I was told that the scent of grapefruit makes men think you look younger than you are so I tried to test this theory out, but men are really bad test subjects and none would cooperate with me. They just thought I was flirting with them and gave me answers like, "How old do you want to me say?" or they'll say something ridiculous like, "You're 19". Whatever, I don't really care what men think, I am just happy to have found a fragrance that smells amazing to me again. You can order samples from his signature collection for $4 each or get the entire collection of samples for $25. Neil Morris Full size 2 oz. spray bottles are $95. He can also create custom fragrances for you or for a special occasions, like your wedding. How fabulous would it be to create an original scent for you and all your bridesmaids? Call 617.267.2315 for more information or read more about it on the Neil Morris website.

I'm a big fan of Paul & Joe fashions, but hadn't tried-out any of the line's beauty products till I received one of the Paul & Joe Body Fragrance Holiday 2008 Gift Sets which was absolutely fab! Love the packaging that is ready to go in a gorgeous long, rectangular purple or pink box that definitely stands-out from many of the gift sets that are flooding beauty aisles this season. There are two limited edition sets for the 2008 Holiday season -- 001 - fruits cassis accents a bouquet of green florals, roses, and lilies of the valley and 002 - Tonka beans complement the Oriental-inspired blend of roses, jasmines, and lilacs. Both of the sets include: Embroidered Drawstring Pouch, Fragrance Body Powder (infused with moisturizing hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil and Paul & Joe's exclusive conditioning botanical extracts), Solid Fragrance (pocket-sized for a quick pick-me-up!), and Fragrance Body Cream (made with organic olive oil and edelweiss extract. Avocado oil and mallow extract add additional moisture).
You can pick one up for yourself for $65 at NYC's Bergdorf Goodman or at Beauty Habit!
I'm obsessed with the ads for Vera Wang's latest fragrance, Vera Wang 'LOOK' -- I mean that outfit the model is wearing!! If that's not enough to get you curious enough to try this fragrance (and run to the nearest department store to try on some Vera Wang pieces), than I don't know what would! The perfume is a great stocking stuffer. It comes in a modern cut geometric prism and is packaged in a matte gray box with Vera Wang LOOK written in orange. As for the smell its described as a blend of mandarin and watery green with notes of lychee and golden delicious apple -- I love to hear people describe fragrances, it's truly a science like the study of wine! While my nose isn't developed enough to catch all those notes (though I definitely get the mandarin and apple), it's a bold fragrance and not as fruity as the description would have you think -- from wearing it out myself I feel like it must have some jasmine, patchoulli, and vanilla -- very well-balanced scent and has a definite clean Vera-Wang-esque feel!
The price of the spray is --
$45 for 30ml
$70 for 50ml
$90 for 100ml

Looking for a special Christmas present? Look no further than L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci with bottle made by Lalique! 2008 celebrates the 60th anniversary of L'Air du Temps with a unique fragrance in an iconic bottle that has been awarded Bottle of the Century in 1999. The Lalique crystal: a precious and magical material that gives birth to the most precious masterpieces. This luxurious and exclusive edition is inspired by the first collection of Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci.
Maybe it's because I'm pre-disposed to not liking Versace (with the exception of the occasional shoe/gown and their nail polishes that are accented with the smallest Medusa head possible, I've never been a big fan of their flashiness/glitz), but I just can't even imagine wanting Gianni Versace Couture, an eau de parfum that comes in a hand-stitched white leather train case and is priced at $2,100 if someone offered it to me for free!! It just seems so over the top and tacky, not to mention how much space it takes for a 3.4oz bottle! That said, Versace says that you can take out the fragrance and use it as a jewelry box -- seems a little small for that to me...The bottle also seems very manly to me (something about the heaviness and all that leather). If you feel so inclined to purchase the fragrance however, be warned there are only 100 limited edition bottles and they'll be available in the U.S. come November exclusively at Versace boutiques. As for the smell, according to WWD it has a floriental-woody scent - "citrus accents of bergamot and mandarin blend with energetic notes of red berries and tangerines to form the top notes. The heart of the formula dissolves into a floral bouquet. Sambac jasmine mingles with velvety heliotrope and almond blossom tones. The essence of Tonka bean combines with the woody notes of patchouli heart and sandalwood." I like jasmine and sandalwood, but that's not enough to convince me. Snob or Slob?

I love dual purpose products; especially one that makes you look pretty and smell good. Unfortunately I am not a charm bracelet girl but I have a girlfriend who collects them--this is the perfect Christmas present for her. Margherita Missoni designed this fun and whimsical solid parfum charm bracelet that combines convenience and luxury (you can discreetly refreshen your scent from a bracelet, necklaces are harder to conceal). My friend Kristen the Beauty Addict loves solid parfums but I've never found one that was to my liking. I took a whiff of this the other day and for some reason it smelled rancid on me. Oh well, the search for the perfect solid parfum continues. I am obsessed with Kai's gardenia oil but the roller ball broke the other day in the car, on my way to a black tie wedding and spilled all over my vintage HAUTE COUTURE YSL gown circa 1972. I was devastated and held my clutch over the giant oil stain all night. Luckily my trusty dry cleaner took the stain right out. Whewwwww! Oh, if you're interested, the Missoni charm bracelet is $50 at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue this month.
One does not merely meet David Yurman; one is enveloped in the resplendent energy he exudes the minute he casts his gaze on you. He is seriously one of the most charismatic people I have ever met! He won me over from the moment we sat down for the interview (I am also a sucker for guys who say they like my outfit- it's nice when men appreciate fashion!). We talked about everything under the sun; from family to his passion for work and his childhood in the Bronx-- we took a stroll through nostalgia lane and evoked the scent of his life. David Yurman is clearly a man who adores his wife (and is doing his best to keep up with her!) and devoted to the company they founded together that will one day be passed down to his son, Evan. I have no doubt the legacy of David Yurman will become one of the great American tales. Read on to discover the luxurious world of David Yurman! (I recorded the interview as to give you every little detail!)

My favorite film maker, Wong Kar Wei, has paired with one of my favorite American designers to launch an exciting new fragrance, Notorious in a 30 second film noir starring Laetitia Casta. Filmed in Paris, the commercial captures the scent of timeless glamour and Golden Era of Hollywood.

Lip Gloss in Bare Vinyl-- it is inspired by the high patent shine of Michael Kors accessories. A nude and sheer gloss that imparts natural color with a sensual an shimmering shine. It is flattering for all skin tones and will add a touch of understated glamour.
Perfume Rollerball-- Micahel Kors signature scent is an intoxicating white floral fragrance that has become a modern classic.
Beauty snob warning: Don't mistake the rollerball side for gloss, I'd hate to find out what the perfume tastes like!

Though it's Samantha Jones who battles breast cancer in Sex and the City, in real life it was actress Cynthia Nixon who not only battled cancer, but became a breast cancer activist, convincing NBC to air her prime-time breast cancer special. This year Nixon began to serve as Ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
I've written about my affinity for diffusers before, so I was excited to find out that Sweet Grass Farm is supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating 10% of the proceeds of each sale of their Carnation & Pink Peppercorn Faith Hope & Courage fragrance sticks to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The mix of Carnation and Pink Peppercorn (there is this wonderful hint of spice in the smell!), is soooo perfect for fall. I don't like there to be too intense of a smell in my bedroom and these fragrance sticks are perfect for that - they perfume your room without overpowering. Check-it out here:-)

I am all about wearing different scents in different
seasons. During the heat of the summer I like something juicy and fresh, but
when it starts to cool down I like warmth and spice! Solid perfumes are a great
option for fall and winter- since the last thing you want to do is get alcohol
based perfumes on your cashmere, fleece and leather garments :(.
Even when you spray your skin first and then put your clothes on, the alcohol
can still discolor the fabric, especially if you perspire.

While I am a one scent girl, my hubby is loyal to none. His side of the bathroom looks like the fragrance counter at Neiman Marcus. From Hermes, Lanvin Homme to Dolce & Gabbana, he has it all which makes it difficult when I want to buy him a new bottle because he already has it! This is why I am excited to give him the new Prada Infusion d'Homme, this is something he does not have,, yet! Infused with Iris, Tunisien Neroli and cedarwood, the Infusion d'Homme is a sophisticated and refined scent that won't hit you like a ton of bricks (you know what I'm talking about-- those guys who enter the elevator enveloping you in a cloud of obnoxious scent which you can not escape!) but rather will seduce and entice you to discover the scent further. Bottled in an elegant flacon, and echoing the design of vintage perfume bottles, it is adorned with a metal plaque bearing the historic Prada crest, originally designed in 1919 by Miuccia Prada's grandfather. A snob worthy gift for you lovey indeed! At Neiman Marcus- ; 6.75oz - $100 3.4oz - $74

Chanel loyalists will be thrilled with the newest addition to the line, the Mademoiselle Shimmering Gel. This is not your standard stripper issue glitter gel, it's Chanel and its subtle with just a hint of the scent that has titillated and thrilled for years. The newest in fragrance luxury, inspired by the irrepressible spirit of the young Coco Chanel. Shimmering body gel leaves a delicate sheen on skin, bringing a luminous touch to shoulders, arms and décolleté, while imparting the feminine and sexy scent of COCO MADEMOISELLE. Chicly showcased in a contoured flacon with stopper, the sparkling formula beckons invitingly through the glass -- an irresistible accent for vanity or bath. 1.5 oz. $65.00 Available in September at Chanel counters worldwide.
I'm leaving for my friend's Marrakesh wedding next week and am already thinking ahead as to what I will be packing! Traveling these days takes way more foresight with all the rules on what you are and aren't allowed to pack and since you can't really take liquids with you on the plane it's a great time to experiment with new products (taping/wrapping/sealing opened products is one of the worst hassles, but the though of spillage in my luggage scares me almost as much as my suitcases being lost!). elizabeth W is a wonderful line I've only recently discovered though from what my perfume expert friend Christine tells me they are very well-known and respected by those in the fragrance industry. They have some wonderful products that come perfectly compact and travel-ready so you can walk the airport with confidence a la Posh Spice, knowing that you'll have everything you need to look glam wherever your destination may be!
I have a weakness for Lavender, so I love the Lavender Eau de Parfum spray, 1/2 fl oz, $20. Though I wouldn't spray this on my body, I love it as a room spritzer (maybe even spritz my area on the airplane...airplane smell makes my stomach turn!). It comes in 10 scents, but as an alternative there's also elizabeth W travel candles, $20. Jump for more Snob finds!

For anyone who doesn't know, there is a serious heatwave going on in the New York City-area and in-between dealing with an old-school air-conditioner that's so loud it keeps me up at night and going to penthouse events with no AC (though the particular event I'm referring to was a cocktail party to honor Isabel Toledo and though there was no AC, I ran into Bag Snob Kelly's sister which totally made up for it!), I have turned to deodorants as my new best friend. I have long stuck to alternating between Chanel Allure for Men and Nivea Fresh for Men, but unfortunately both are ridiculously hard to come by state-side (I stock-up when I visit my relatives in Munich..while they're both for men, they're light -- though I have to say that Chanel I use only for the delicious smell because it's not that long-lasting...). Now that I've been amping-up on my deodorant usage though, I've been trying-out a whole bunch of new ones and there are a handful that stand-out as particularly snob-worthy! Jump for the best deodorants at a variety of price-points!
UPDATE: Congratulations Kyl! Thanks to everyone who participated, it was a tough decision!

Check out the latest glamour girl must have from Lalique, a company most well-known for their exquisite crystal. Just in time for Summer (at least I hope Summer is coming, considering all that snow we had last week!), this heady floral fragrance combines sultry musk, crisp white flowers, vibrant tuberose, and sweet fruit for a balanced combination of scents. Spectacularly packaged in a unique, opaque spherical flacon with exotic feather detail, Lalique takes decadence to a new level. I am building a 1920's Parisian style home and my dressing room is going to be unapologetically feminine and over the top. This delicious looking bottle will look perfect on my antique French mirrored vanity table! Perles De Lalique is available at Vivre.com for $600.
My friend Ginger went nuts over the new Chloe fragrance, she saw it in one of my magazines and smeared it all over her arm one night (I always wondered who'd actually open those flaps and rub it all over themselves- now I know. I never do this because who knows if some pyscho added poison to it when no one was looking- but that's just me, Ms. Neurotic). She was visiting me from LA and could not stop talking about the scent the next day, asking me every other minute if we were close to Saks or Neiman Marcus. After hearing her go on about it all weekend, I got a sample at Saks to test out and was surprised that I liked it as well. I am a scent snob and am all about Creed (I have one custom blended at the Creed Boutique in Paris and I use Millesime) which my husband replenishes for me once or twice a year. I think he finally got the hint because the Creed bottles are the only ones I leave out and use regularly. I have dozens of bottles from various brands he bought for me through the years but they remain full, in a drawer, out of sight. But if he were to buy the Chloe for me, I may dab it on every so often. It is not too sweet nor too musky, I like my scents to be subtle and warm, which this is. If you are looking for a new scent, you must try this out. Chloe by Chloe Parfum At Saks- $85.
I attended Nanette Lepore's S/S 2008 show last September and loved the easy to wear feminine and romantic pieces she showed. The feminine and girly line is much like the designer herself (she took a turn down the runway with her adorable 5 year old daughter at show closing). At the age of nine Nanette created her first couture look by outfitting a neighbor in a gypsy bedspread cum dashiki and beaded choker. She painted sunflowers on her face and stood in the front yard with a cardboard sign that read "Lepore". It is now one of the best selling lines at Neiman Marcus (I watched Ken Downing of Neiman Marcus scribbling furiously throughout the show, picking pieces that will grace the racks of its stores nationwide) and with the launch of her first fragrance, Lepore hopes to capture the hearts of beauty snobs too!
Nanette envisioned her fragrance bottle and package design as an expression of her love for florals and play on pattern. She took a classic design and gave it a retro-twist, making it feminine, fun colorful and distinctive. The half mooned shaped bottle has a very soft and feminine silhouette. It provides the perfect canvas for the bohemian-inspired floral wreath that adorns it. The finishing touch is an enchanting little black and blush polka dot bow, tied at the collar and topped with a blush, round cap.
I received a sample of the scent and it is subtle and pretty, just like her clothes. Abandoning the traditional weaving of fragrances, the perfume is layered with delicate notes of moonstone rose, peach, jasmine and finally violet (inspired by her muse, her daughter Violet).
1oz - 3.4oz, $38-$78 Nanette Lepore Eau de Perfume at Sephora.

My mother used to tell me a love story when I was younger. It was about a neighbor of ours who lived in this huge plantation house built in the 1830's. The neighbor's mother died when both she and the mother were very young. The mother was deeply loved by her husband. He would fly in peonies from all over the world for his wife (back when flying was a luxury that almost no one could afford). Peonies were her favorite flower and also one of mine. They have one of the most endearing scents that is both timeless and infatuating. For a delectable peony scent, try Thierry Mugler Peony perfume, $87.00 at Saks.

I love to travel. Paris is my favorite city in the world to date but I have never been to South Africa and maybe I will change my mind when I do. I would rather travel than have beautiful handbags and even more than a gorgeous pair of shoes. (I'm more of a shoe snob than any other type of snob. I will gladly quit eating in order to save money to indulge in a new pair of Louboutin's or Jimmy Choo's.) I even carry my passport with me at all times, you know, just in case. So when I ran across this limited edition Coco Mademoiselle Purse Parfum by Chanel, I just had to tell you all about it. The problem with constant travel is that you have to live out of a suitcase or a bag. Perfume is the only part of my beauty regime that I have made mandatory. I even put it on right before I go to bed. But the problem with perfume is that if it spills onto your clothes, they will ruin. And my clothes are far too beautiful to run that risk ,so this travel perfume is my god send and I hope it will be yours also. Coco Mademoiselle Purse Parfum, $100.00, Chanel.com.

I am YSL obsessed, from vintage smoking jackets to this season's must have belted dress (not to mention the fab line of YSL bags), I am a YSL girl through and through. So when the house of Yves St. Laurent launched a new fragrance, I was first to jump on board to try it even though I am not one to seek new scents (I am a die hard Creed Millesime girl, it's all I have used for years and though I like buying perfume, most just sit on my counter as decoration!).
The first day I got my YSL Elle set I put the Eau de parfum on my wrists and neck, just to test out how it will wear on me. At first it was a bit strong but immediately settled into my skin. An aggressive nose with a heady floral scent (Peony – Pink Berries – Patchouli) combined with a slightly mysterious woody flavor, I was a bit overwhelmed. But as the hours wore on, it became warm and sensual, lasting almost the entire night. This is one sexy scent!
I gave the Shower gel to our Tot Snob Editor, Jori, and she reported that it was way to Gardenia-ish (but I love Gardenia!) so this is not for the girl who is afraid of smelling like a fragrant garden. The lotion fared quite well on me, almost like the perfume but a bit less aggressive. Overall, I like the new Elle scent from YSL, especially for our young and hip Beauty Snobs who not only want to be seen in the latest purple YSL Downtown bag, but also smell like the chic YSL girls in the ads. My advice is to use the lotion on a daily basis and save the perfume for evening or use use sparingly as a little goes a long way (I layered the lotion under the perfume this weekend and it lasted almost 12 hours- so you can go from work to play smelling fabulous!!) Definitely worthy of a try.... or would make great Christmas presents! The urban sleek bottles in sensuous violet hued glass are irresistible but it is the complicated notes of woody floral that will keep you coming back for more. Parfum $78 - $109, Lotion $45, Shower gel $40 at YSL.com

Sean “Puffy” Combs claims he knows how a woman should smell. That was the statement he kept giving out when promoting his fragrance line. There was a huge media hoopla over the racy ads when he launched, but I didn’t really take much notice. I figured it was probably decent – he’s a smart business man and I figured he lent his name out to a great perfume maker. Well, I was browsing through Sephora the other day and came across the Sean John display and decided to have a whiff. It was gross! Apparently Puffy thinks we should all smell the way the old dresser in the basement that your grandma keeps quilts in does. Seriously, the perfume smells like a citrus dryer sheet gone wrong. My roommate who was with me and the salesperson who saw me gag when I smelled it both agreed. This was nothing to be impressed by and definitely nothing to ever purchase! If you dig smelling musty it’s $55 at Sephora.com Sean John Unforgivable Woman 2.5 oz Eau de Toilette Spray
This is a luxurious bottle that would make a great gift to yourself! The unforgettable signature scent of Carthusia, originated in 1380 to honor a queen, embodies Capri’s exquisite flora with notes of wild carnation, lily of the valley and oak. The 1,000 Limited Edition numbered bottles are printed in pure yellow gold. Each bottle is handmade and finished with a yellow gold plated atomizer. Includes a certificate of authenticity. 24 fl. oz. Fiori di Capri Eau de Toilette $450 at Vivre.

I love to travel! It’s probably one of my favorite things to do. I love exploring and finding new palaces and I really, really love staying in hotels. No matter how old I get the thrill of staying in a really nice hotel never goes away. But sometimes when it’s a long trip a hotel begins to feel impersonal. That’s why I try to bring things like pictures or candles to put on the bedside. It feels a little more homey. Next time I travel I’m going to bring this set of travel candles from Tocca. There’s four different scents that range from fruity to floral to warm and will definitely make your hotel room feel like your home. (Or at the very least cover up any weird smells left by the previous inhabitant or cleaning supplies!) Plus they’re packaged super cute and come in really nice holders that won’t let the candle melt into any hotel furniture. $42 for a set of four at Sephora.com. Tocca Beauty Travel Candle Set
A reader shared her fabulous discovery on a recent trip to Dubai with me, Parfums M. Micallef. She said they were "All hand made perfumes in hand made bottles painted with 24 ct gold and/or embedded with Swarovski stones....And that's only the outside..... the fragrances even outsell Chanel and Dior. The scents last long on the skin and develop beautifully." She also said that the perfume is not available stateside, mostly because the owners are not eager to expand, yet.
Of course that got my attention immediately, I checked their website and am now dying to experience the scents! There are many to choose from, Le 4 Saisons, Les Exclusifs, Les Notes and Ananda. They also offer lavish crystal flacons which may be filled with all the fragrances from the various Micallef collections and, if required, decorated with special motifs, such as portraits, names, etc. You can also put other favorite perfumes in these unique 3 liter flacons. I love all of them! Would love to get my hands on one of each. Those of you who live in Cannes, Paris, London or Dubai, go check out their store! Go to Parfums M. Micallef.

Ever since I began wearing perfume, I’ve always gravitated toward scents that contained notes of vanila. The warmness of those tones have always complimented me the best and they just plain make me happy to smell. I recently picked up LAVANILA’s Vanilla Grapefruit perfume and it’s my new obsession! Vanilla and Grapefruit may not sound that appetizing when you think about eating it, but when the smells are combined it is amazing! The scent is both warm and light at the same time. It has hints of orange and other types of citrus in it. Every time I smell it, I feel like I smell a new layer of the perfume. If you like vanilla, but citrus isn’t your thing, check out Sephora.com for all their products! $56 LAVANILA Vanilla Grapefruit 1.7 oz Eau de Parfum Spray
I am currently obsessed with the Skin Deep Website, a safety guide to cosmetics and personal care products from researchers at the Environmental Working Group. I have been on it all weekend looking up every brand in my bathroom, it was shocking how many items in my bathroom are rated "high toxicity" and that may cause cancer, render me infertile amongst many other scary hazards! Go through the site and search for your favorite products to see what you come up with. I could not find my favorite luxury brands such as La Prarie, Natura Bisse, Sisley or La Mer on the site, hopefully it is because their products are tested extensively to avoid causing hazard? (or maybe they were too expensive for the scientists to buy and test?).
There seems to be a pattern of beauty companies across the board with body lotions being listed as highly toxic even if their other products are of low or no risk (For example, Skinceuticals C&E ferulic is safe but the Skin Firming Body Cream is a high hazard- I am throwing mine in the trash tonight!). In fact, I am so freaked out that I have decided to use my son's baby products from California Baby (rated 0- low hazard) on my body until further notice. I am not one to scare easily and often ignore the urban legends of lipstick accumulating in the stomach etc but this really got my attention! Of course I will do more sleuthing with doctors in order to validate the site's claims, let me know what you beauties come up with.
Here's a thought, perhaps the reason Aveda products tested so high for toxicity is because they do not do any testing on lab rats....

I happen to live in a town that’s a little bit obsessed with Gisele. Her current boyfriend happens to be the star quarterback of our football team and the fact that they are dating has made the cover of the paper more then once. So when I saw her name in another news article I rolled my eyes and waited to read about where she went to dinner with Tom Brady. (Gag. I really don’t even think he’s that good looking!) This article happened to be legit however. Gisele has been named the new face of Dolce & Gabbana’s new fragrance The One. The scent is launching exclusively at Saks and will be available there and at Dolce boutiques in the Fall. From the description of "warm, oriental floral blend of bergamot, lychee, peach, Madonna lily, jasmine and plum," it sounds amazing. She launched it this week during a public appearance at Saks in beautiful champagne colored Dolce & Gabbana dress. I'm interested in hearing your opinion. What do you guys think about Gisele as the new face of The One? Do you think she’ll have the same mass market appeal without her angel wings?

How badly do you want to smell like your shoes? The folks at Jimmy Choo are betting that you'll be lining up to purchase its latest venture, a scent made just for the house of shoes in a 10 year worldwide licensing deal with Paris-based beauty manufacturer and distributor Selective Beauty SAS (makers of John Galliano and Agent Provocateur beauty). Since introducing handbags and eyewear, Jimmy Choo has evolved from a shoe brand to a global luxury brand and hopes the addition of the fragrance line will further express a different facet of the brand. I am a classic scent girl myself and have used my Creed Millesimme layered with gardenia oil for years and do not plan to change (how else is my husband going to recognize me when we’re both old and blind?) but I have many friends who buy the latest and greatest perfumes and are loyal to no scent so I’ll have to wait for their report when Jimmy Choo fragrance launches in 2009.(check out Annie at Blogdorf Goodman’s collection of perfumes, now there's a girl obsessed with fragrances!)
What about you? Are you like me and do not venture to new scents or are you a fickle pickle who change fragrance depending on mood?

I have a really hard time finding a fragrance that doesn't annoy me after half a day of wear. I like light fragrances and I don't want to smell like everyone else. How weird is it to run into someone else wearing the same perfume? It's like altered reality for me because smells have such strong mental associations attached to them. I get totally grossed out by the way some men smell and when I was dating it was the first test for me, I have to love the way the guy smells. Needless to say, I think my husband smells dreamy =) So back to my point, I was looking for a new fragrance and was going without one for quite a while until I got a sample of Serge Lutens' A La Nuit from Barneys. The pushy salesgirl insisted that I take it and I was about to toss it when I decided I'd give it a spritz for the hell of it. It smells so good!! There is a hint of jasmine but is not overly floral. All the scents in this line are so delicate and light. It is impossible to buy fragrances online so you have to go into Barneys and test them out. Ask for samples and try it for a week to make sure you like it after many wears (I have an entire shelf of perfumes I don't use because I hated it after one use). Trying them on in the store is totally pointless, you are disoriented from all the different smells around you and the scents change with your body chemistry and temperature so you really need to spend some time with it. Serge Lutens Fragrances are $100 at Barneys.

Summer’s coming and during the summer, everything gets lighter and smaller. Your hair, your makeup, your clothes and your perfume all lighten up to help your body adjust to the heat. I lighten up my perfume during the summer as well. I wear a vanilla based perfume most of the year, but it’s just too heavy to wear in the warmer months. So, I’m on the search for a lighter, floral based scent to wear in the long, hot months I know are coming. One of the scents in the running is Fresh’s Sugar Lychee perfume. It’s light and flowery with just a hint of sweetness. It’s not overwhelming in the scary way that floral perfumes can tend to be. The notes of citrus in the perfume cut the floral down. It’ll be a refreshing change and a welcome light note in the heavy, hot days of summer. $65 at Sephora.com Fresh Sugar Lychee 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum

Sure, the super sexy soccer star is married but he's now available in a nice little bottle! Instinct by David Beckham will be sold in the US this summer. Stay tuned for more of the glamorous (if some what over exposed) couple and their new venture, Beckham Beauty House. Not that they need the money, David just signed a $250 million, 5 year contract to play for the LA Galaxy. Nothing against soccer or Becks (he's majorly hot although I question his taste in women) but I can't help thinking what that money could do for the LA school district.... just a thought :)

I’m a one perfume kind of gal. I usually find a scent and stick to it for a year or two at a time. I ventured out to try some new perfumes the other day to see if I can find another scent I love as much as the one I'm currently using. When I saw Prada’s name mixed in with all the perfumes, of course I wandered over to try it, figuring anyone who makes clothes that pretty must be making pretty scents to match them. I was dead wrong in my guess. Sephora’s website lists it as a “Perfume of yesterday and today.” Well, they’re half correct because it smells like my grandmother’s Jean Nate! I took one whiff and was instantly transported back to her bathroom. I loved it as a seven year old, but as a grown adult, I don’t think I’m ready for it yet. It won Sephora's "Best of Sephora" award in 2006 and I honestly don't know why! Prada also has a sharp edge to it, the kind that makes you wrinkle your nose and instantly pull back when you smell it. Not the kind of reaction I’m looking for. Keep in mind that perfume smells different on everybody, based on their on body’s Ph so what smells like Jean Nate to me might smell like roses to you or someone smelling you!! I’m also curious to know what you beauty snobs smell like. We’re open to suggestions so let me know what your favorite scent is! Prada is available at Sephora for $49.
