telasugarscrub.jpg tela_bod_cleanse.jpgI am all about Tela Organic skincare lately.  I've been using the "Tela Sugar scrub" almost daily and it's so moisturizing that I can skip body lotion afterwards!  The scrub is made of pure organic sugar cane and almond oils with a blend of honey, acai and pomegranate (it did cross my mind to taste it but I refrained!) and oh my god NOTHING leaves my skin as soft and smooth!  I'm addicted to it!  Get it here at Barneys New York- for a mere $25 it's like getting a professional $100 full body scrub- every day!!

I just got "Tela Organic Body Cleanse" $25 this week-- it's a cleansing gel with ginkgo, apricot and blackberry-- love that it rinses off with no sticky or heavy perfume-y residue.  Get it Tela Organic Body Cleanse at Nordstrom

If you live in Dallas, come meet Philip Pelusi (the mastermind behind Tela Organics and one of the best hair stylists on the planet!) in person at Nordstrom North Park Mall tomorrow, Saturday 3/20!  Philip and his amazing team will be doing complimentary hair styling!  50% of the day's purchases will benefit my dear friend Heidi's organization, the Fashionistas.

Desert Essence Organic Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner

user-pic

3784DE_Coconut Shampoo.jpgdeo-coconut.jpg

I received a sample of this new Desert Essence Organics Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner a couple of weeks ago and used it religiously every other day. The coconut shampoo and conditioner is made to nourish and brings back shine and health to over-processed, damaged hair. Infused with organic coconut oil to provide intense moisture, smooth frizzies and restore hair's natural luster. With continued use, hair looks revived, strong and healthy. When I opened the bottle the wonderful aroma of the coconut spilled out and left a subtle hint of fragrance on my hair throughout the day, which I got a couple of compliments on. Now I usually don't condition my hair every time I shampoo because my scalp tends to get oily, but my hair is a little dry so I decided to just do both steps each time I cleansed my hair. My hair did frizz a little less, but there still were a couple of fly aways after styling, and it didn't seems to weigh my hair down too much. But towards the end of my trial my hair did seem to get oily quicker then usual, so I think that I'll have switch back to my old shampoos and use this just when I need a nice hydration.

Bamford Body: Luxury Skin Care

user-pic
bamfordshampoo.jpgbamfordeucaplyptusoil.jpgbamfordbodywash.jpg

I just discovered Bamford Body and am totally obsessed with its products. It is a completely organic line, an extension of the Bamford RTW / Accessories collection that's based in NY. The collection ranges from bath & body products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) to even body oil, massage oil, and baby products. I used the Botanic Body Wash Eucalyptus along with Botanic Shampoo and Conditioner in Eucalyptus yesterday and I smelled like a walking zen spa all day! The scent is calming and kept me from going nuts as I had to deal with a couple of crazies.

The visionary behind the brand, Carole Bamford, has brought a sense of taste and truth to the world of organic, from sustainable food with Daylesford Organic, to the simple authentic beauty and style of the women's, men's and home ware collections. Bamford Body is the natural extension; a collection centered on what goes onto your body, as well as inside. Like all Bamford Collections, this range has combined the design aesthetic and the sensual appreciation demanded by the luxury sector with the passionate belief that organic and natural products are better for you and the environment. These entirely natural products for bath, body and baby are the epitome of modern luxury.  Check out the entire Bamford Body line here at Barneys!

Shea Terra Organics - Fights Violence and Poverty!

user-pic
sheaterra_menthlipbutter.jpg    sheaterra_propolislipbutter.jpg

Shea Terra Organics introduces 2 new organic lip butters, the Shea Propolis Organic Shea Lip Butter and the Menthe Orange Organic Shea Lip Butter. The extraordinary quality of these products in not only in its effectiveness but in what is achieved by you buying them. The ingredients used in these lip balms are from self empowering projects in Africa who aid women and children living below the poverty level. The honey and beeswax used are from a project that supports an effort in Uganda that teaches women beekeeping skills to sustain their own economy and lives. The wild plum and tsamma melon oils used are from a Namibian project that supports over four thousand gatherers and farmers and helps families send their children to school. The Shea Propolis Organic Shea Lip Butter, $4, is a super strength lip balm for cracked lips and helps to protect against cold and sun. The Menthe Orange Organic Shea Lip Butter is a minty lip balm that soothes your dry lips and gives you long lasting fresh breath. How great is that? I bought both by the dozens, not only to help the cause but I can totally benefit from them! I hate chewing gum so the Menthe is perfect and my lips get so dry and cracked they start bleeding, which the Propolis balm would be great for. Angelina Jolie is a huge fan!

organicare: the future of skincare

user-pic
rescueme.jpgWe are really into organic skincare and cosmetics right now.  It's kind of like eating organic vegetables, you're not really sure if it is better than the regular stuff but just in case it is, you don't want to miss out!

One of the most comprehensive lines of organic skin care is from none other than the beautiful Jamie O'Banion.  We reviewed her Jamie O line last year and have been enamored with her ever since.  The new line, called Organicare, is made of 100% USDA approved organic ingredients.

We are obsessed with "Rescue Me", an Acai Berry Anti-aging serum that contains the purest concentrated form of the high anti-oxidant Acai berry. It is also packed with vitamins B and E as well as omega 6 and 9 fatty acids. It all sounds like a delicious shake but it is fat free so go ahead and apply often.

Tell me, what do you think of organic products?

Tom's of Maine, Aluminum Free Deodorant

user-pic

toms_lavender.jpgtoms_deoderant.jpg

There has been this whole scare of antiperspirant / deodorants that cause breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease because of the aluminum content. Well, I think we can all agree that we would rather smell than risk those dangers. And as it is, my memory sucks. There are conflicting studies but the one thing that got me to switch is the fact that the effectiveness is caused by little pieces of aluminum lodged into your pores to stop the sweat from coming out. I kind of gave more credence to medical technology in thinking that there was some special ingredient in antiperspirants that stopped your body from making sweat. But that is not the case, you still sweat - it is just being clogged inside of you and that does not sound like a good thing. I was disturbed enough to give non-aluminum alternatives a try, Tom's of Maine Natural Deodorant, being that it is my favorite brand for organic, natural products. OK, I know I talked a lot about sweat so I need to clarify immediately by pointing out loud and clear that this is a deodorant, not antiperspirant, so you will still sweat, it just keeps you from smelling. See, for me, my problem is mainly odor. I kind of sweat but that isn't what's keeping me from flailing my arms at will. It has been 3 weeks and I have to say, this is working for me. I like the Unscented, although it still has a slight lemongrass scent to it, and I have tried the Lavender, which I like but I prefer unscented just so it doesn't compete with my perfume. My husband tried it and he was like a leaky faucet so he had to stop. If you are a sweater, don't even bother. But if you're like me and just need odor control, why not go with a natural product? Tom's of Maine Natural Long-Lasting Deodorant Stick, Lavender and Tom's of Maine Natural Long-Lasting Deodorant Stick, Unscented are $5.49 each at Drugstore.com.
