Ferragamo Incanto Bloom

user-pic
First off, how adorable is this fragrance's bottle cap? I'm loving how Ferragamo incorporated its classic Vara bow in a retro black-and-white design for its new Incanto Bloom fragrance (at the launch party last week a life-size version was featured as the centerpiece; talk about fashionable art!). Aesthetics aside, this is a bright scent--think grapefruit flowers, freesia, tea roses and champaca flowers blended with musk and cashmere wood top notes. Incanto Bloom is best enjoyed in moderation as I can only describe its aura as "floral fruity." While feminine and girly, this is not a discreet scent. I recommend applying this scent like how I think all women should wear their fragrances: dabbled at the wrists and behind the ears. Trust me: your olfactory bulbs will thank you.

Eau de Toilette $45 to $82, available exclusively at Bloomingdale's.

Cartier Les Heures de Parfum

user-pic

1Cartier_1_10[1] open box.jpg

I've always believe that fragrance is a very personal entity; in a way, it defines who you are and conveys to others your mood, your personality and how you want to be perceived. That's why Cartier's new Les Heures de Parfum is so fabulous. This lineup of five scents for men and women is Cartier at its bespoke best. Two years in development by Cartier's in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent, these scents, which are defined by roman numerals, are to be worn for different moments in life (not times of day) and are purposefully out of sync. While they each have a name, my two favorite are "X" (L'Heure Folle) and "VI" (L'Heure Brillante). The former is a brilliant scent of fruits not yet ripe (think Cartier's wildly colorful Tutti Frutti jewelry collection) with top notes including red currant, grenadine, peppercorn and blueberry. To juxtapose that scent, I will wear the latter, reminiscent, as the French say, of a gin fizz. It's great for work wear as it's high energy and oozes neon effervescence. Citrusy top notes include lemon and gin.

Most ideal for Valentine's Day is this luxurious fragrance set customized in Cartier's much-coveted red leather box with gold trim. It features scents "I" (L'Heure Promise); "VI"; "XII" (L'Heure Mysterieuse) and "XIII" (La Treizieme Heure), the last two being eau de parfums. Wouldn't you just die if you got this? Can't afford Cartier diamonds just yet? Les Heures de Parfum is one step in the right direction.

$1,725, available at select Cartier boutiques
(Note: "X" is available separately for $250, and exclusively at select Cartier boutiques and Saks stores.)

Lancôme Génifique Eye Cream

user-pic

lancome_Genifique_Eye.jpg

There are eye creams and serums--and then there is Lancôme Génifique. Ever since the Australian Open, my eyes have been suffering. Blame it on the late nights watching the game or the jet lag travelling to and from Melbourne, but my eyes were looking tired, dull and just plain saggy. But from the moment I applied Génifique, I could literally feel it going to work. The tingly sensation was invigorating! Lancôme claims users will see visibly younger, brighter eyes in just seven days--I can affirm that notion as it worked for me. This cream boosts the activity of genes in and around the eye area and, in my case at least, helped noticeably reduce any appearance of fatigue. In photos, I noticed I looked more awake and alert and the skin around me eyes felt moisturized and fresh. I'm thrilled I discovered this product in the days leading up to Fashion Week. A definite must-have!

Estée Lauder x Neue Galerie Beauty Collaboration

user-pic
otto-dix.jpg

I'm a sucker for a great collaborative project, so, having long been a fan of Manhattan's Neue Galerie dedicated to early twentieth-century German and Austrian art and design, I was over the moon when I got word that Estée Lauder had created two limited-edition Bauhaus-inspired products centered around the work of artist Otto Dix--a crimson lipstick called Berlin Red and a complementary compact--whose exhibit will debut at the museum in March. As a refresher, the Neue Galerie was co-founded by Ronald S. Lauder (of the namesake beauty giant), so it was just a matter of time before his two passions would meld. Some of Dix's most noted works, including Portrait of the Dancer Anita Berber (1925) and reclining Woman on Leopard Skin (1927) center around female figures with bold red lips, so the choice of the crimson pigment (housed in a bullet-shaped case) was au natural. The lipstick and compact will be sold exclusively in the museum's design shop. If these beauty products aren't enough to get you uptown, hopefully Dix's exhibit--the first-ever one-man show on American soil devoted to the German artist--will.

Lipstick ($30) and compact ($55) available at Neue Galerie, 212-628-6200

M.A.C & Milk Makeup Collection

user-pic

mac1.jpgmac2.jpgmac3 (3).jpgmac4.jpgmac5.jpg

As one of the beauty industry's most ardent supports of fashion talent--both young and established--it was only a matter of time before M.A.C would create a collection of essential products found in every makeup artist's kit used to create all the key beauty trends during fashion week. This February marks the second consecutive season M.A.C has collaborated with Milk Studios in NYC to host a hotbed of talent during New York Fashion Week, so consider M.A.C & Milk a fashionably late--albeit glorious--way to finally celebrate that collaborative spirit! "Radiant skin, smokey eyes and beige lips seem to be a part of the beauty trends every season. The M.A.C & Milk Collection are the iconic products that create these trends. No makeup artist can live without these products during fashion week," says Gordon Espinet, vice president of global makeup artistry for M.A.C Cosmetics. Every facet of one's daily beauty regimen, from skincare and eyes to mascara, face and lips, is included in the assortment. Fast Response eye cream? Check. Smolder Kohl pencil? Check. Zoom Lash mascara? Check. Fleshpot lipstick? Check. Even the essential beauty brush! What I love about the collection is that everything is neutral, well-balanced and suited for all shades of skin; there's no brooding blood red or neon yellow to throw you off kilter. Think of it as your quintessential basic must-haves to creating any look. You don't have to be at fashion week to look like you have: the M.A.C & Milk Collection is available for a limited time from February 2 to 22.
The collection ranges in price from $14.50 to $42, available at M.A.C stores and at www.maccosmetics.com

Dolce & Gabbana "The Roses" Lipstick Collection

user-pic

saks_dolce.jpg

2010 is shaping up to be the year of the lip, so what better than Dolce & Gabbana's newest lipstick collection to glam up your next close encounter? "The Roses" line, out this month, marks the first anniversary of the Italian fashion house's makeup line and is a Pat McGrath-concocted, straight-from-the-runway, color collection that is both timeless and on trend. What I like about these lipsticks (pictured above, from left to right: Shine On, Baby Darling, Magnifica, Scarlett & Fascination) is that the shades appeal to every woman. From apricot-peach to intense mauve red, they're feminine yet bold and pay tribute to Dolce & Gabbana's love of flowers--in particular the rose. "To me, lips are a woman's most evocative feature; they are the focus of her femininity," says Domenico Dolce. Each lipstick boasts a velvety smooth fragrance redolent of the wild rose gardens of Sicily, innate to the designers' deepest roots. Ladies, time to pucker up this Valentine's Day.

$30 each, available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue

Chanel Temporary Skin Art Tattoos

user-pic

chanel1.jpgchanel2.jpgchanel3.jpg

Ah, the genius that is Peter Philips. Chanel's global creative director for makeup continues to amaze, creating these whimsical trompe l'oeil "skin art" tattoos that the models sported on the Chanel spring runway. Now they're coming to a Chanel boutique near you! "For the show, I wanted to play with the Chanel symbols; pearls, chains and wheat, as well as blossoms and small swallows that announce the arrival of spring," said Philips of Karl Lagerfeld's country chic-themed show. "I focused on a natural makeup look with chic beige tones and a slight touch of rebellion: the tattoos!" These are not your ordinary mom-and-pop shop press-ons, mind you. You can create an entire Chanel necklace on your skin or a "quilted" leather bracelet to accessorize your gown or cocktail dress for a special look that's guaranteed to dazzle. The skin art, which is temporary and easily removed, arrives in stores in late February and comes in a package of five sheets, for a total of 55 designs. The number of designs on the sheet depends on the individual sheet.
