Bobbi Brown Denim & Rose Palette

user-pic

bobbibrown.jpg
I got the Denim & Rose palette a couple of weeks ago even though it doesn't launch until July (even Bobbi herself was surprised I had it already-- hello, a beauty snob has her connections ;). This limited edition palette is housed in a hip little denim zippered case which makes it the perfect travel companion (no more messy spills from broken compacts!). I love me a sexy smoky eye and the deep glittering blues and icy grays in the palette are gorgeous highlighted with pale pink. Bobbi doesn't do pale white cheeks and lips with a dark eye, she still likes fresh rosy cheeks and lips which takes the smoky eye from gothic to pretty (powerful I might add!) Sorry, could not resist that pun! But make sure it's a light wash of color and not bright pink cheeks cuz that would be too clown-like.
During the day I use the icy gray only but if I have a luncheon I'll add a touch of denim blue at the outer corners blended really well for a hint of drama. Come evening I just blend more blue to the rest of my lids et voila, instant rock star (my only groupie is a 5 year old but hey, you gotta start somewhere!)

Denim & Rose Palette is $60.00 and available at Bobbi Brown website and cosmetic counters worldwide in July. Go play with this and tell me what you think!

Dior Lip Maximizer (Better than lip injections!)

user-pic

dior_lip_maximizer.jpg
I spent an entire afternoon at the cosmetic counters last Sunday (it's called "Research" in my business) and discovered a product that will save you thousands of dollars from lip injections. The SA who told me about it had really pretty and full lips (I actually thought they were "enhanced") that she swore was from Dior's "Lip Maximizer" gloss. I had my doubts and was going to move on until she told me to return it if I was not 100% satisfied with it. Seriously-- who returns used goopy lip gloss?! But I am a sucker and bought it (if you think beauty bloggers get everything free, think again-- I pay for most of my beauty products cuz you only get one sample to review). Of course I tore it out of its packaging immediately (even before I paid) and slicked it on my lips. A tingling sensation (not unlike what dentists give you) ensued and the brightest shine my lips ever experienced. I'm not sure if my lips looked fuller but it definitely looked prettier. The gloss is not too sticky (although it is quite thick) and the shine lasts for hours! My bottom line: way better than lip injections cuz the high shine brings attention to the mouth and makes it appear fuller, bigger, and brighter. Plus it's $29.50, pricey for lip gloss but dirt cheap compared to injections.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lipstick Collection

user-pic

Beauty Snob note: You read Beauty Snob Sharon's take on the lipsticks earlier today... now please read Mansnob's review!

Seriously: everything Tom Ford does is premeditated. It might sound a bit cold, a bit callous, even a bit conniving, but how else to explain the sheer perfection that is everything the man touches? His new sumptuous Private Blend Lip Color collection (translation: lipsticks) has without a doubt set a new bar in this highly-lucrative category. If you gawked at the price of a Chanel lipstick, brace yourself: Tom's creations will set you back $45 a piece (despite that, I hear Vanilla Suede has already sold out at Bergdorf Goodman).

Last week a cocktail reception was hosted for select beauty bloggers and, naturally, Beauty Snob was there. There I realized what Tom meant when he said to WWD of his interpretation of 12 classic colors, "I took the most universally flattering colors that a woman can wear, and then I re-imagined them in a modern and authoritative way." Authoritative? This from the man who once designed Gucci handcuffs.

Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color Collection

Tom Ford can do no wrong in my eyes. Whether he's creating sexy musk-inspired fragrances (no scent can compare to the distinctive allure of White Suede), or artfully directing a feature film, he's an absolute genius when it comes to anything involving aesthetics and design. While it's his foray back into women's wear that I'm most looking forward to, his new Private Blend Lip Color Collection is a great way to hold all of us fans over.

Before delving into the lipstick itself, I've got to highlight the packaging and visuals! Ford shot all the stunning visuals himself and in-and-of-themselves they're enough to intrigue any red-blooded woman (or man!). I mean how sexy is the image above (model wearing the "Cherry Lush" shade)? I would totally buy this photograph if I saw it at a gallery and hang it in my apartment. Then there's the actual lipstick which is beautifully packaged in an ivory and gold case that's simple and sleek, while still being utterly eye-catching. More after the jump!

Clé de Peau Beauté Extra Rich Lipstick

user-pic

cle_de_peau_lipstick.jpg
My lipstick quest continues with Clé de Peau Beauté Extra Rich Lipstick-- if you have ever used any products from the line you'll know that it's the rolls royce of cosmetics. The extra rich lipstick is one of the most luxurious lipsticks I've ever tried but it's not thick or gooey-- just very emollient.  The color coverage is fantastic, too.  If you are looking for a sheer lipstick, this is not it.  But for that old world glamour of perfectly painted lips, this is the one to try!  It's really expensive, so I suggest you go to a counter to test it out first.  Or if you are impatient like me, order it here-- Clé de Peau Beauté Extra Rich Lipstick for $60

Kissaholic Lip Gloss from Booty Parlor

user-pic

booty_parlor_kissaholic_faint.jpg

Why use lipgloss that doesn't have plumping qualities? Well, I don't because I don't have Angelina Jolie lips (far from it!). I have them all but some, like the Lipfusion, is so overly stimulating that I'm not always in the mood for it. There are times when I just want to put on some shine and moisture without the burning lips. The Kissaholic Lip Gloss is my new go-to for simple pleasures =) It has a refreshing minty feel and taste, it does not have excessive heat but it does plump. The kissability factor is also way high with this, my hubby avoids kissing me when he sees goopy, sticky gloss that tastes like "crayons". The face he makes is very unromantic, so I just roll my eyes and walk away. Not a good scene. I tested this gloss with him and he actually enjoyed the minty taste because it is like "gum" instead of "crayon". At Booty Parlor for $16.

Bobbi Brown Treatment Lip Shine SPF 15

user-pic
bobbi_brown_lip_shine.jpgbobbie_brown_lipstick.jpg
I never thought I'd say this but I have been skipping lip gloss during the day for weeks now (gasp!). Don't get me wrong, I still like the look of shiny slick lips but I am now getting it from shine lipsticks like Bobbi Brown's Treatment Lip Shine (Armani also makes a great one but it doesn't have the treatment that Bobbi's does) and don't think I need the extra gloss unless I'm going out at night. Bobbi's Lip Shine also acts like chapstick and treats dry lips so I can skip that step, too. Ahhhhhh, the simple life, that's what I'm aiming for (at least this week). It has SPF 15 with natural Cocoa and Shea Butters, Jojoba, Apricot Kernel and Avocado oils. Have you tried this? What do you think? At Bobbi Brown.com
