The Lip Scrub Cocoa by Sara Happ

user-pic

the_lip_scrub_sara_happ.jpg

As we head toward the end of summer (boo!) the big casualty from all the sun and elements is my lips. I find myself chewing on my lips which is not only unattractive but eventually painful. But all that dry skin just drives me crazy! I picked up the Lip Scrub by Sara Happ out of desperation and it has become a part of my daily routine. It is a bit messy to do (or maybe cuz I use too much) so it's not something you can keep in your bag and do in the car. It is basically a scrub for your lips made with sugar and rich cocoa oil (which is more vanilla tasting than chocolate but yummy all the same). It leaves your lips a bit numb (again, it could just be me scrubby too hard) but you get your supple lips back with a layer of nice oil for much needed shine. Comes in different flavors at Bath and Body Works for $24, or Amazon for $22.

Twirl by Kate Spade New York

user-pic

kate_spade_twirl.jpg

Through all its ups and downs, I have to admire Kate Spade for maintaining an unwavering air of sheer giddy femininity. Think colored tights and sparkly heels, festive fêtes and tables for two. The same ideals of celebration are beautifully wrapped up in the brand's new signature scent--its first major fragrance launch since 2002. As the press notes describe, this scent, created by Givaudan, is a true joie de vivre; floral lovers will love the feeling of being transported to a garden in bloom following a light mist--infused with a twist of fresh fruit. Among the notes are: pink watermelon, blackberry red currant, heart of orange blossom, star jasmine, tiare flower, sweet magnolia, drying down to musk and French macaroon. Yum!

The collection, launching nationwide in September, will include a 3.4 oz. eau de parfum, a 0.24 oz. roller ball, body cream, lotion and shower gel, ranging in price from $35 to $80

DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum

user-pic
Dior_Maximizer_Lash_Pumping_Serum.jpg
If Latisse is not your speed, try this super duper lash plumping serum from Dior Show. Not only does it thicken and curl your lashes instantly (unfortunately does not lengthen that much), it conditions your lashes all day long underneath your 3 coats of mascara! I use this daily now and love how my Dior Show "Black Out" mascara goes on over it. You do have to wait for this to dry for a few seconds before attempting mascara or it gets kind of gloppy.  But compared to other brands I've tried, it dries a lot faster.  Be very careful when you apply though, I ended up with so much on my lashes the first time it took almost 5 coats of mascara to cover the white part!

Loreal Infallible Never Fail Lipstick in Orchid

user-pic

loreal_infallible_orchid.jpgTwo of these lipsticks were sent to me for review and at first I didn't know what the odd shaped cases were... lighters?  Tic tacs?  Turned out to be the newest products from L'Oreal (cuz they think I'm worth it?!), the Infallible Never Fail lipsticks.  While I appreciate modern technology, this packaging is just too cumbersome to keep in my make up bag.  And though the lipstick did stay on as promised, it left my lips feeling kind of dry which I guess is the reason they included the balm.  However, I'm spoiled by lipsticks that have the conditioning agent in them already so not sure I would bother to do this two step.  I do like this color though.  Very pretty on the lips.   Have you tried this yet?

New Sensai Cellular Performance Lifting Radiance 3D Mask

user-pic

I'm not a big fan of masks, so when I was sent a sample of the new Sensai 3D Mask I was hesitant to try it. In my head masks are always these muddy pastes that dry up your skin - which don't get me wrong, when treating a mild break-out those are great, but otherwise, eh. When I opened the 3D Sensai mask (6 for $165) however I found that this mask was like no other I had tried. Each mask has almost an entire bottle of Sensai's new Lifting Radiance Concentrate and the mask feels like a soft delicate fabric - nothing gross, dry, or hard about it.

It doesn't drip, you don't need to wash it off, and it also treats your neck. Just leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes and you'll not only feel relaxed from the cooling sensation, but you'll notice a reduction in puffiness and your skin will have a radiance and high level of hydration. I suggest using it before going to bed, because the last thing you'll want to do is cover your beaming face with make-up after treating yourself to one of these masks.

On a side note, after trying the 3D mask I used one of Sensai's Soothing After Sun Masks which is an equally pampering, non-drying option that helps cool burns or if you were lucky enough to tan, it helps extent your tan.

Liz Earle Superskin Bust Treatment

user-pic

liz_earle_superskin_bust_treatment.jpg
There are few things worse in a beauty snob's life than running into old friends who haven't seen you in over ten years and for them to ask "what happened to your boobs? You lost them". Um, let's see... child birth, 18 months of breastfeeding... and general old age? How the hell do I know what happened to them? All I have to say is, thank god for push up bras! But seriously, now I'm all paranoid and into boob enhancing products. I went into my "Beauty Drawer" and found this sample that was sent to me a few months ago from Liz Earle. The Superskin Bust Treatment won't get my boobs back but at least they're keeping the skin supple and firm and come to think of it-- firm and perky is way better than big and saggy, no? What do you do to keep your bust in good shape?

Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle & UV Damage Corrector

user-pic

A friend of mine hosted a cocktail party last week and her mother was on hand to help her set-up. Her hot mama is 61 an virtually wrinkle-free (and it's not because of botox or any surgical intervention). I first saw her from the back and judging by her legs you'd think she was in her mid-20s - I mean wow! I wish I had, had a camera to take a picture because her gams were seriously unbelievable. I asked her what her "secret" is and she told me "I tell myself that I stopped physically aging and I make myself believe it." She did add though that she's been regularly exercising and applying wrinkle prevention creams since her late teens. I'm with her on all of those points and was re-assured to know that using wrinkle treatments as a preventative measure is an effective tactic. One of the latest serums to hit counters is
Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle & UV Damage Corrector ($44.50). In clinical studies it was proven to have a noticeable effective on lines, wrinkles, and skin texture in four weeks and after 12 weeks, the amount of wrinkle-reduction was considered to be close to a dermatological laser procedure.

The serum itself is lightweight and fast-absorbing. I only apply use serum in the morning to "wake-up" my face before I go to the gym, so the two aforementioned points are essential. The serum is also moisturizing enough that you won't need to add any extra hydration post its application. Learn more here or check it out at any Clinique counter!
