Have your golden locks taken on a green tint from too much time in the pool? Neutralize the green color caused by chlorine by dabbing a bit of red wine into your hair (serious!) You can also use it before entering the pool as a preventative measure. Use before shampoo for best results. Drink the rest of the wine, don't waste.

Mix 1/4 cup mouthwash with 1 cup of water. Apply it to your scalp for a tingly good cleanse (it removes build up on scalp without stripping it of its natural oils). Do not rinse! Use after shampoo.

There was an article in the NY Times a few days ago about how those that travel between homes find it hard not to forget things. It being summer and my going back-and-forth between NYC and the Hamptons I can definitely relate to this. I actually have been cutting-back on my trips because the packing and making sure I have everything stresses me out!!! Anyway, I feel really lucky in that writing about beauty products constantly gives me an excuse to try-out new products. My friend Sara is a hair and makeup aficionado, so I always trust her when she tells me there's a product I have to try out. She came over last week and saw that I had Jane Carter Solution Shampoo and Conditioner and told me that their Wrap and Roll spray was, in her words O so fab! Truth be told, I love their shampoo and conditioner. I try to mix-up my shampoos every so often (I still don't know if the necessity of changing your shampoo every few months is an urban myth or not but I love anything that gives me an excuse to invest in some new products:) ) Anyway, their shampoo and conditioner have a refreshing, sort of grapefruit smell, but not in an overtly fruity way which I love. Similarly the Wrap and Roll has a nice and refreshing smell (kind of weird to say about hairspray, but to me it smells natural, like what you want to smell like after getting out of the shower!)

So often I find myself lost in Sephora or Barneys bliss, that I forget you don't always have to spend a bundle to get great products (I've actually been alternating Allure Chanel Deodorant, with deodorants from Nivea's Men's line!). I was lucky enough to get the chance to test-out a line of face, body, and hair care products called Yes to Carrots and while I didn't fall in love with every single one of their products, they had some wonderful (and amazingly inexpensive) finds!
All the Yes to Carrots products are paraben-free, and have Beta Carotene along with 26 minerals from the Dead Sea (this got me excited..anyone who has tried Ahava products knows how great Dead Sea minerals are!), and true to their name, if you check-out the ingredients you'll find things like carrot juice, pumpkin, carrot seed oil, and sweet potato -- so fun!!

As soon as the heat hits, my hair gets extra greasy so against my better judgment, I end-up washing my hair nearly daily. Of course, instead of having flat, greasy hair, I then end-up with dry hair, which is why I was happy to try-out the Matrix Biolage Oil Control Treatment ($15.99 for 4.2 oz). I’ve been spraying a little on my scalp area and brushing it through for the past few days and it did a good job at preventing my hair from getting that oily, flat, dirty look.
The downfall is that, for me, the smell of the spray was somewhat of an acquired taste. I didn't like it at first and a few people commented on it since it's fairly strong, which means that if you like it you're lucky and I have to say, most thought my hair had a fresh, just washed-smell...just what I was going for:)

I love leave in conditioner! I have super fine, long hair that tangles when you look at it funny, so I have become quite the connoisseur of products such as this. Most leave in conditioners have alcohol in them, as they dry they takes moisturizer out of your hair, in the end drying it out. Terax Life Drops do not contain any alcohol, but instead contain silk and whey proteins that leave your hair feeling soft and manageable all day! I have actually been on the prowl for a new leave in conditioner, so I was especially excited to find this little gem- I HIGHLY recommend this product! Added bonus: leaves your hair smelling clean and fresh all day!

I just had to share this with you because it is just too much fun. I will need to warn you though, you will blow a lot of time on this so make sure your boss isn't paying attention. Beauty Snob Tina met up with Phillip Pelusi(one of her favorite hair gurus), creator of the 100% organic hair line, Tela, last week when he was in town from New York. She is now obsessed with the line and has been glossing her hair with all the fabulous Tela conditioning products! Tela available at Barneys New York!

It occurred to me when I first came across the Tela Beauty Organics line from Philip Pelusi, that while so many of us spend countless hours agonizing about which organic food products to buy, I for one, beyond making sure they're properly tested, don't stop and think about what's in the skin and hair care products I use. I've been going to Bumble and Bumble's uptown NYC salon for years and they rarely miss when it comes to cuts and products (my two all-time fav haircare products are their Tonic lotion and their gloss, perfect for when you don't have time to wash your hair before styling...).
