Cartier Les Heures de Parfum

user-pic

1Cartier_1_10[1] open box.jpg

I've always believe that fragrance is a very personal entity; in a way, it defines who you are and conveys to others your mood, your personality and how you want to be perceived. That's why Cartier's new Les Heures de Parfum is so fabulous. This lineup of five scents for men and women is Cartier at its bespoke best. Two years in development by Cartier's in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent, these scents, which are defined by roman numerals, are to be worn for different moments in life (not times of day) and are purposefully out of sync. While they each have a name, my two favorite are "X" (L'Heure Folle) and "VI" (L'Heure Brillante). The former is a brilliant scent of fruits not yet ripe (think Cartier's wildly colorful Tutti Frutti jewelry collection) with top notes including red currant, grenadine, peppercorn and blueberry. To juxtapose that scent, I will wear the latter, reminiscent, as the French say, of a gin fizz. It's great for work wear as it's high energy and oozes neon effervescence. Citrusy top notes include lemon and gin.

Most ideal for Valentine's Day is this luxurious fragrance set customized in Cartier's much-coveted red leather box with gold trim. It features scents "I" (L'Heure Promise); "VI"; "XII" (L'Heure Mysterieuse) and "XIII" (La Treizieme Heure), the last two being eau de parfums. Wouldn't you just die if you got this? Can't afford Cartier diamonds just yet? Les Heures de Parfum is one step in the right direction.

$1,725, available at select Cartier boutiques
(Note: "X" is available separately for $250, and exclusively at select Cartier boutiques and Saks stores.)

Engraving Your Lip Gloss

user-pic

How sweet is Beauty Snob intern Christy -- for the holidays she gave me a tube of Guerlain KissKiss engraved with my name! Truly the perfect gift for anyone who is a beauty addict. Unfortunately the engraving is not something you can do at your local Sephora, her boyfriend who manages a fast-fix jewelry repair shop did the engraving, but it's something you can easily have added to a beauty-find if you're looking for a gift with a personal touch. The gloss itself is super high-shine. The tube Christy got me is Pink Pearl which fits into my daily beauty routine well because it's heavy on shimmer, low on color. I did find the formula a touch sticky, but I love the brush applicator and it's relatively long-lasting.

DayNa Decker Holiday Buys

It's impossible to be on the beauty floor at Bergdorf Goodman and not be drawn to the DayNa Decker section. The beauty maven and former Ford model has one of the most enticing lines of bath and body products, along with a variety of very distinctive candles. I'm loving their Botanika collection for holiday because it's heavy on green and apparently my friends agree -- I've already been to two holiday parties where the hostesses were burning Decker candles in various sizes ($36 to $84)! You really only need one candle for the room and unless it's a gigantic room, even a 3oz candle will suffice to envelope the space in a warm aroma (makes up for the lack of fireplaces in NYC!). While you're at it, I'd also check-out the Botanika Essence Moisturizer which has this great revitalizing quality to it. I've only got a little sample pouch, so I've just been applying it on my arms and hands, but the smell is so soothing and it's also got Argan Oil in its formulation which has replaced Shea Butter as my new thing to look-out for (it's so hydrating!).

Urban Decay Holiday Buys

user-pic

If you're looking for a gift for anyone who likes to play around with their makeup Urban Decay has got some great deals this season. My face totally brightened-up when I got my hands on their 24/7 Super Stash ($36) and their Apocalyptic Nail Kit ($26). They've got a bunch of other variety packs, but for me it's nails and liner that I love to experiment with. I'll sometimes actually use liner instead of eye-shadow, but the Super Stash gift set works well even for those that don't usually stray far from black, because it includes a variety of colors that are fairly neutral, along with some brighter pops of green and blue. Don't be shy -- Layer! Combine! There's nothing like dramatic eyes to make this drab weather seem a little more tolerable. The colors apply true to what they look like, glide on super smooth, and if you're like me and sometimes opt for liner instead of shadow, these give the right amount of coverage. As for the Nail Kit, it's the sparkle that attracted me. People rarely comment on my nail colors, but when I wore 'Big Bang' which is the glittery pink in the collection, I actually got a few complements including one from a guy who typically would never notice something like nail polish. The bottles are petite, but I'll take seven petite bottles over two full ones any day (who ever finishes a whole bottle anyway!?).

Wei East WE Help Bring Hope Collection - MARCH GIVEAWAY!

user-pic
Win a set of WE Help Bring Hope Collection by telling us Wei East.jpg I would recommend that everyone watch a video posted on the Wei East website in which the founder of the ancient Chinese herbal medicine-inspired beauty line, Wei Yang Brian, discusses what inspired her to create Wei East WE Help Bring Hope Collection. The collection of eight of Wei East skin care's best sellers retails for $70 ($300 value), and 100% of sales go to autism (Autism Speaks and The Autism Treatment Center of America). The box totally puts a smile on my face. It was designed by Wei herself and displays a drawn picture of Wei pushing her son, who is autistic, on his favorite swing and her daughter chasing a butterfly in the yard with a bright sun in a perfect blue sky shining down on them. Wei says that it's the feeling of hope that brings sunshine into her life and that's something that truly shines through in this collection and in the video. More about the collection after the jump!
