30 Seconds to Flawless Face- Jane Iredale at Cooper Spa

abase.jpgblush_pp_small.jpgcottoncandyblush.jpg It's ridiculous how much  make up I have but you know, there is always room for fabulous new products!  I discovered Jane Iredale mineral make up at Cooper Spa yesterday and returned twice to pick up more things from the line.  I had just finished Kinesis with my trainer Lara and had to meet a friend downtown at the BIG sale so I ran into the spa, grabbed a brush, put some Amazing Base on, applied Cotton Candy blush (with 24k gold!), and ran out the door.  When I looked in the rearview mirror of my car, I couldn't believe how great my skin looked!  It was like I just woke up from a nice long nap! (Yes, if I do say so myself!  But all of my friends throughout the day kept complimenting on my flawless skin. My friend Dana went over right after work to buy hers after seeing me!).    (Jump for more and instructions to use!)

Clarisonic

P211002_hero.jpgI'm obsessive when it comes to cleaning my face before I go to bed because I'll breakout after just one night of skipping my routine. So it's very, very rare that I don't remove my eye makeup, wipe my face and neck with a makeup-removing/cleansing cloth, apply a foam or cream cleanser followed by an anti-aging cream or serum. As someone so painstakingly fixated with the cleansing process I can't believe that I didn't know about Clarisonic till I recently spotted it in my friend's bathroom. It's made by the same folks behind the Sonicare toothbrush which if you don't own one I highly recommend. I've been using a Sonicare toothbrush for over four years now and ever since I started I haven't had one cavity (which was a problem I had on a regular basis before). Like Sonicare, Clarisonic works using sonic waves that literally brush away all the dirt, oil and grossness that accumulates on your face. All you have to do is apply any nonabrasive facial cleanser to your face (the device comes with three), and then wet the Clarisonic brush and turn it on (it comes with a timer that you can set to 1 minute so you know when you can stop cleansing your face), and simply move the brush around your face. It has been clinically shown to be twice as effective at cleansing the skin than manual cleansing and it's waterproof so you can use it in the shower. The price for this is $195 and it comes with: a Clarisonic brush and charger, one sensitive brush head, a 1 oz Refreshing Gel Cleanser, 1 oz Nourishing Care Cleanser and a 1 oz Hydrogel Cleanser. $195 is steep, but anyone who has used the Sonicare toothbrush will likely attest that you can never go back to manually brushing your teeth after using it and the same goes for Clarisonic. Just don't forget to take off your eye makeup first!

Clarisonic Skincare Brush - BCA Pink, $195 -- it also comes in white, but buy the pink one and Clarisonic will make a donation to help fund the fight against breast cancer.

Yes to Carrots, Cucumbers, and Tomatoes

untitled.JPG I've written about Yes to Carrots before. I think it's such a fun line of eco-friendly products and best of all it's affordable so no matter your income level there's no guilt involved. Yes to Carrots is aimed at the those with Dry to Normal skin, but they recently came out with two new lines -- Yes to Cucumbers and Yes to Tomatoes which are aimed at those with Normal to Sensitive skin (Cucumbers), and those with Oily/Combination skin (Tomatoes). All of the lines offer a variety of skin, face, body, and hair care products all of which are formulated with organic fruits and vegetables along with 26 minerals and they're all Paraben-free. I've used a bunch of products from their line and there are a few that stand-out for me. I love the Yes To Cucumbers Eye Love Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel ($14.99), for when my eyes are puffy and red from a bad reaction to makeup or a lack of sleep, and the Yes To Carrots Hair and Scalp Mud Mask ($12.99), is amazing -- way better than the much pricier one from Ojon ($55) that I was using before! Also I love the smell of the Yes To Carrots Pampering Hair Mud Conditioner ($7.99) and it takes very little for it to be effective, though since my hair is highlighted, when I use it I always follow it with a spritz of Fluide Chroma Riche from Kerastase (leave-in conditioner, $34). Holiday gift ideas: Givenchy Very Couture Palette

Update: The price of the palette has been dropped to $45! givenchyverycouture.jpg

This is the best palette for both bag and beauty snobs alike.  You get the super stylish Givenchy grommet clutch plus the palette of gorgeous shadows, blushes and lip color!  I've always loved the Givenchy prism shadows and powders, they're easy to blend to create the depth of colors you desire.

The prisms also last forever, my last Givenchy bronzing prism lasted me two years.  I know, I know, you're supposed to toss them after a year but I was told toss it if it smells and since mine didn't, I kept it.

The Very Couture Palette is $65 and it's one of my favorite Holiday gift sets this year!  Someone call Santa!    Givenchy at Sephora.com

Blemish Free Skin Sisley Tropical Resin Complex

tropicalresin.jpgWhen I was in college at USC my favorite thing to do in the afternoons after classes was to hang out at Beverly Hills Neiman Marcus cosmetic counters.  I'm serious!  I made friends with the SAs at Chanel, Sisley, and La Prarie counters  so I'd be first to know about new products, sample products, etc. I was hanging around playing with make up one day and noticed a huge blemish on my forehead-- when I showed it to the SA, she handed me a sample of the Tropical Resin Complex from Sisley and told me to apply it to the blemish a few times a day and at night before bed. I told her I didn't think that would work and she said just to try it. I must admit that I am an extremist, if you tell me applying something a few times a day will work, I will apply it 10 times, just in case. So throughout that day I dabbed the complex on my giant pimple and at night I put a dollop on. The next morning, the pimple was gone and my forehead was smooth as silk. I was so shocked! I kept that little sample and used it periodically as I got blemishes. I forgot about it until I was at the Sisley counter the other day-- I couldn't believe it was still being sold! I haven't used it in almost 15 years but I asked for a sample again and when a pimple showed up yesterday-- I dabbed away and guess what. It still works. Since I don't have oily skin, I don't need to buy the entire bottle. If you do, however, and have outbreaks often-- you should really try this! $155 at Neiman Marcus.

Korres Facial Wipes and More...

P211625_hero.jpgI'm inspired to write a story on facial cloths because while in Paris I picked-up some from Nivea ($9.95) and they were horrible! No moisture, barely got rid of my makeup and it literally took 5-6 wipes each time! Now that I'm back in the States I'm back to using the ones from Biore ($7.89), which are great -- full of moisture, fresh scent, nice texture -- and then recently after it was suggested to me, I inquired and ended-up trying Pomegranate Cleasing & Make Up Removing Wipes from Korres ($12) and I looove the smell!!! The pomegranate formula helps tighten pores and the wipes are aimed at oily and combination skin. That said, besides the wonderful smell they're super-effective. I only need one wipe and they even get rid of my waterproof mascara! Lastly, I haven't tried these yet, but I thought it would be worth mentioning Josie Maran Bear Naked Wipes 30 Wipes ($12). They're all-natural and biodegradable, and a portion of the sales proceeds are being donated to the National Resource Defense Council's Polar Bear SOS Initiative to save the species and their environments:) No matter the facial cloth though I always, always use a cleanser afterward to make sure every last bit of dirt, makeup, and excess oil is off my face!

Prescriptives Spring 2009 Preview

of=50,442,442.jpgBeauty Snob Tina recently wrote about the Holiday Prescriptives line in stores Nov. 1st  and it's def worth checking-out. I was able to try-out some of the Holiday products and I love their new glosses -- non-sticky and long-lasting as usual, with just a touch of shine -- I especially love the Rose shade. Looking forward however, I previewed their Spring 2009 collection today and it was faaab. It's all about customization and giving the customer what is right for their individual needs. My favorite thing that they're offering is Custom Blend Lip Gloss and what it is, is a gloss created especially to your specifications using a vast array of base shades, color extenders, pearls, and finishes...flavors too: Tropical, Latte, Melon, Bellini, Berry, Meringue, Cocoa, Icy Mint and Vanilla. There's literally everything from a barely there pink (that's me!), to a deep mocha with a high gloss finish --the possibilities are endless! A package redesign is coming in March 2009, but you can get your own now for $26 at select beauty counters or online here
