For me, mascara is the single most important beauty product. I have no lashes and if I am not wearing false lashes, I am experimenting with yet another "length defying" mascara. I was given the Motives Lustrafy High Definition Mascara and tried it out immediately because like I said, I am always fascinated by new mascaras. To put it succinctly, WOW!! This mascara is amazing!! It does what you want all mascaras to do, thicken and lengthen, but the lengthening is really quite incredible, it has the fibers like many others but the extension of each individual fiber on each individual lash is quite an engineering feat. Unlike others, it does not clump a few lashes together and then extend in one larger point. That gives a typical mascara look, like the points on a crown. The Motives mascara gives a fake lash look, with each lash lengthening from the root. Even my mom thought I was wearing fake lashes and wouldn't believe me when I told her it was just mascara. Estee Lauder's Opulent Shimmer Powder -- It was hard to pick just one Estee Lauder product, but given that I no longer leave my house without a swoop of this Shimmer Powder this one had to take the cake.

Dashing Diva and Deborah Lippmann -- Both brands came-out with the most amazing colors this year. Dashing Diva with Jazz Nights (a bright ruby red glitter) and Deborah Lippmann with Happy Birthday (sheer with multi-colored flecks), Marquee Moon (silver with silver flecks), and her 10th Anniversary limited edition colors...so fun and flirty! No wonder Deborah Lippmann is known as the manicurist to the stars. Jump for more! 

Look what Santa dropped off in my mail box last week-- helllllloooo big lashes!!! Dior Show Black Out mascara is my crack but the Extase is even better! It looked all clumpy and scary (due to the tiered brush inspired by Dior haute couture tiered dresses) when I opened the tube but goes on very smoothly and layers really well with my other Dior Show mascaras. The Extase coats each lash immediately and completely so one coat is all you need. However, if you are adventurous (as I am), go ahead and layer 3-4 coats-- it has a Twiggy false lash effect. This is probably the only way that I would buy the DiorShow mascara from now on without feeling like I've wasted my money. Just to let you people know, the only reason why I rant on the DiorShow is because it dries out and clumps on me after a month or two. It goes on and looks great the first month, but after that I just have to throw it away, and it's just too expensive for me to do that. So with the Dior Best in Show Mini Mascara Duo I can buy this and feel at ease. The smaller size helps me get the most out of it without wasting the product. Since you get two mascaras this is a great way to experiment to see what you like best, or layer in different ways. It comes with Dior's best sellers DiorShow and DiorShow Blackout. If you haven't tried Dior before, this is a great way to do so without breaking the bank, and I love to keep it in my bag for more dramatic effects on the go. I once opened up my suitcase to find my favorite Prada champagne empire silk dress ruined by a bottle of Creed perfume that had broken in flight (yes it was in a zip lock bag and yes it was in a toiletry bag but it still seeped through!).  I have not traveled with perfume since but this handy little spray may change my mind.  Prada Beauty Iris Perfume Refillable Sprays $74

When I read Bobbi Brown's new Extreme Party Mascara was re-layerable without clumping or flaking, I was intrigued.  My biggest issue right now is going out right after a day of running around without time to wash my face and re-do my make up.  By the end of a typical day (meeting with builders, contractors, tile people, marble people, cabinet people, building a house is a major pain!) I do not have time to re-do my face!  And with holiday parties and events starting at 6:30pm, I have resorted to sticking fake lashes on top of my mascara and running out the door.  I have never found a mascara that I can re-apply through out the day, it just doesn't exist.  Or so I thought.  I got a sample of Bobbi's new Extreme Party Mascara and was kind of skeptical, "yeah, uh huh, re-apply and not have weird clumps?  Sure." 

So I tried it last week and the first coat was fine, very soft feeling and easy to apply.  The second and third coats, the same.  I went about my day and at 5pm, re-applied.  Uh... my lashes were still super soft, like I didn't have mascara on but I did.  So I applied 3 more coats, that's 6 coats and it was like the very first coat!  Kind of freaky and have no idea what is in it but this is very handy to keep in your make up bag ladies!  Go try it at the Bobbi Brown counter first for yourself, you'll see what I mean.  Have a great weekend, all!

Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara here $22

I have not found my Holy Grail mascara yet. There are many mascaras that I really like, but they just don't hit all points for me. I know DiorShow is some of many people's HG, and I love it too...the first month or two. After that it seems to get really dry and clumpy. The closest to my HG mascara right now is Fresh's Supernova, but the only problem, for me at least, is that it raccoons very easily. So I decided the way that I could fix this problem was by waterproofing it. I had heard about the Urban Decay Lingerie & Galoshes Double-ended Mascara and liked how it had a primer on one side, and the waterproofer on the other. The consistency was a little thicker then a gel, and I think that really helped to prevent it from making the mascara look dry. Using the waterproofing side really did help my mascara stop from running and didn't make it look any different then it was before. And I felt that since it's the waterproofer coated over my regular mascara then it wasn't going to hurt my lashes like regular waterproof mascara does. I did feel like I got half gypped though, because I do not like the primer side at all. It was so fibrous that it made my mascara look spidery and would make my lashes turn in every which direction. I wish I could buy the waterproofing side by itself, but they don't sell it that way. The next product I may try to waterproof is Benefit's She Laq which actually comes with several brushes to waterproof nearly all your make up. The only thing I'm weary of is how water the concoction looks. I'm afraid it would look so drying. You can get Urban Decay Lingerie & Galoshes Double-ended Mascara for $18.
