Celeb Trend: Orange Lips

Orange lipstick is one of those bold makeup choices that I always thought was more about the attitude of the wearer than anything about their complexion, style, or any other superficial trait. That's probably why I think out of the three ladies above Aggy pulls it off best -- who knew one could look so bad-ass with orange lips! That said, besides confidence, the key to this trend is keeping the rest of your face understated and natural-looking (ie no blue eyeshadow and uber-pink cheeks!). Would you sport orange lipstick?

For a nice soft reddish-orange try Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick, Orange Shiver ($34).

Relax Wax at Completely Bare

user-pic
Completely Bare Spa logo.jpgCompletely Bare is a chain of spas (and the makers of a wide range of wax-related products), in NYC specializing in waxing and permanent hair reduction for men, women, and countless celebs (from Katherine Heigel, Kimora Lee Simmons and Kelly Rippa, to Yoko Ono). It's constantly voted among the best spots to go for a quick, effective wax so I was looking forward (at least as forward as possible when it comes to pain), to trying their wax. I went to their first ever location on Madison Ave. between 65/66. It's so discrete that despite going to Nespresso across the street on a near weekly basis, I had never noticed the spa! I opted for a full bikini, relax wax.  A numbing cream is applied to the to-be waxed area and then you can relax for about 25-30 minutes laying down with some mags, while the cream works its magic. I'm not sure if it was the numbing cream or just laying back and relaxing for a half hour, but the pre-wax routine combined with the high-quality, slow-heating wax and the aesthetician who waxed me made the whole experience the most painless wax I've had to date -- seriously. My waxer, Heather who works at the Completely Bare location on Madison every Wednesday, has over 5 years of experience waxing and she was amazing. Quick and effective -- but not so quick that you're dying throughout the process, more quick like wasabi burn in your mouth! Hurts for a second and then poof, gone! I was red through the next morning and I applied Shobha's Ingrown Relief Lotion ($22) twice a day for the week following my wax. Its been nearly two weeks now and I have nothing -- no ingrowns, redness, bumps NOTHING! More after the jump.

Vanessa Hudgens Make Over: Snob or Slob?

user-pic
hudgensmakeover.jpg Not many girls can carry off heavy bangs and hot pink lips but Vanessa Hudgens does it beautifully!  She also looks a bit like Catherine Zeta Jones with the bangs, albeit a much younger one.  I love the bold '80s color makeup artist Fiona Stiles used to transform Vanessa. "She always plays with her eyes, so a bold lip was unexpected," says Stiles. "She has these amazing lips so you can really accentuate them." And what did the young star think? "I usually don't wear pink but I had fun trying on fuchsia for this shoot," Hudgens said.  What do you think of the new look?

Dr. Smigel's Tips for a White Smile

user-pic
Dr Irwin Smigel.jpgimg-whitening-system.gif
Celebrity-based New York dentist Dr. Smigel is not only responsible for the pearly whites of stars like Johnny Depp, he is the founder of Supersmile a great line of tooth whitening and cleaning products (Beauty Snob Tina loves their gum!). I'm a big fan of their floss and toothpaste. For the longest time I've been using Glide, because well, it just glides right on in! Little did I know that it wasn't cleaning effectively (pretty much doesn't get rid of anything besides large chunks of food stuck in teeth), which you'll notice if you switch to Supersmile's whitening floss. Dr. Smigel doesn't come out with new products often so when he does, they are always exceedingly well researched. I asked him for some tips on non-bleaching alternative to getting a whiter smile and here's what he had to say!
Whitening teeth at home can be achieved safely, easily and quickly with Supersmile - with no downside like sensitivity, abrasion or chance of over-whitening - in as little as two steps. What are the steps? Jump for more!

Celeb Look: Jessica Szohr

user-pic
jessica_szohr.jpgyoungblood.jpg
OK, truth be told Jessica Szohr's character Vanessa on Gossip Girl is tied with Jenny as my least favorite. Don't like their style, don't like their fashion sense, don't like their plot lines...you get the idea:) About two weeks however I was out at an event my friend Cristina helped put on at Christie's when a friend said there was a surprise party going on that we should all go to afterward. He goes "you know Ed, Jessica...they'll all be there." Little did I know that when he said Ed and Jessica he meant Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr. So there, in the hidden backroom at Kabin in NYC I came face to face with both of them. They both seemed wonderfully friendly and laid back (so weird to hear Ed speak with his English accent..I'm used to the Chuck voice!). I was surprised at how great Jessica looked in person though. She had very defined arms and a natural look (I'm sure she was, but it didn't look like she was wearing makeup). With her in mind and a picture in hand, Pauline Youngblood Soli founder of Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics gave us some tips on how to lighten up our summer look. Read her tips after the jump!

Celeb Look: Vibrantly-Colored Mascaras

user-pic

Photos from instyle.com

When I saw these photos, colored mascaras finally made sense to me! Maria Menounos in particular looks so fab with those vibrant lashes. I recently wrote about the blue trend sweeping Hollywood's faces and at the time I couldn't imagine ever wanting to wear anything other than black mascara on my lashes, but these photos have convinced me that one can wear blue, or plum, or even touches of burgundy (as a second coat on top of black), without looking like they're heading to the circus. I especially like this look for summer to brighten-up my tan-less face! What do you think about vibrantly-colored mascaras? Some finds below!

Celeb Trend: Going blue

user-pic
miley cy.jpglefevreinstyle.jpgbellepeople.jpg
All images from people.com or instyle.com

First it was black, then it was gray, then it was taupe, and now it's blue. Blue -- from light to dark -- seems to be EVERYWHERE. It started off, a few months ago, as a nail trend, but now it has oozed its way to eye shadows and eye liners as well. We first got a hint that this was going to be a big trend come Summer/Fall when Chris Benz showed his collection in February. Benz's models wore makeup from Lancome's Fall 2009 color collection, Declaring Indigo which includes a bright blue nail polish shade called Indigo Paris and a dark blue Indigo Charm cream eye liner. No need to wait for that collection to come out though the time to get on the blue wagon is now! I personally stay away from blue shadow and nails, but I've beensporting a touch of light blue liner on my top lid fairly often lately.

Sephora Brand Midnight Blue $5 -- Sephora brand products are grossly under-rated. They have about a million eye liners to choose from and while they may not be quite as soft as ones from YSL or Estee Lauder, for $5 there is no better eye liner deal to be had. If you're not into a frugal find however, Yves Saint Laurent Easy Liner for Eyes Automatic Eyeliner 3 Easy Blue($32) won't disappoint.

Demi Moore: Should she take the dare?

user-pic
demicut.jpgAshton Kutcher played a trick on his 2 million+ twitter followers with this photoshopped photo of wifey Demi Moore yesterday. He later tweeted "I'm just playing baby but I think you'd look great with that cut" after she playfully threatened him with her own buzzer to give him a similar cut. It's really fun following them on twitter, they are so cute with their constant banter (Ashton Kutcher is brilliant-- he showed a twitpic photo of his wifey's half naked bum a few months ago).

Demi would look good bald (as we saw in G.I. Jane) but should she take the mohawk plunge a la Rihanna? What do you think?

Celeb Lips: Nude vs. Deep Red

user-pic

What a difference lip color can make! OK so nude and deep red/crimson are on totally opposite ends of the spectrum and I myself prefer just a sheer gloss, but seeing these images side-by-side I'm still surprised at how much lip color can effect ones overall look. Surprisingly the only star above that I think looks better with a deep red lip is Cameron Diaz -- you'd think that with her laid-back Cali image I'd like her better with nude. For the most part crimson lips look too "done-up" for me and I think that they can even, on certain people and depending on the outfit (ahem Leighton Meester in that harlequin-esque outfit at the CDFA Awards), look clownish. What do you prefer, nude or deep red lips?
