Bobbi Brown Heart Truth Bronze Shimmer Brick Set

user-pic
bobbiheart.jpg

You may know this already but heart disease is the #1 killer of women :(.  For the fifth year in a row, Bobbi Brown is a sponsor of the The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection 2010 Fashion Show.  The show, which brings some of Hollywood's leading ladies together on one runway in an effort to spread the word about regular check ups, will be taking place today at Bryant Park. This year Bobbi created an exclusive, limited-edition Bronze Shimmer Brick Set in partnership with The Heart Truth campaign and its annual Red Dress Collection Fashion Show to raise awareness about women and heart disease. Ideal for creating a warm, bronzy glow, the set includes Bobbi's iconic Shimmer Brick in Bronze and a Mini Face Blender Brush. Only 500 of these limited-edition sets, which feature a specially designed package and the tagline "Listen to Your Heart," will be available from www.bobbibrown.com for $40 each.

The weather may be freezing but you can still glow with a healthy bronze-y shimmer! I'm going to grab one before I head out to NYC this week!

Hourglass Illume Creme-To-Powder Bronzer Duo Bronze

user-pic

I'm a little gaga over Hourglass' Illume Creme-To-Powder Bronzer Duo Bronze ($40) which features a complementing cream-to-power bronzer and highlighter. I know the bronzer looks dark, but it doesn't apply nearly as dark as it looks and it gets lighter when combined with the highlighter (I'm very pale). Plus the duo is the perfect space saving compact for those of us who spend too much time strategically placing and packing our clutches when we go out at night (so frustrating especially when you have a huge BlackBerry!). I would prefer using this with a brush, but fingers work fine if you're trying to save space. It's also a great price given the smooth texture and that you get two products in one. Check-out the Hourglass line here. On a side note Hourglass has great packaging (think swivel cases!).

CHANEL SPRING 2010 MAKEUP COLLECTION

user-pic
chanel les impressions.jpgchanelsoleiltan.jpg
The beauty trend is soft and feminine for Spring 2010 and Chanel's latest make up collection is no exception.  'Coco' Chanel left an indelible imprint on countless women with beautiful, practical and lasting designs that enhanced a woman's natural allure and LES IMPRESSIONS DE CHANEL -- a collection of clean, classic neutrals-- pays homage to her legacy.  The colors in the collection are infinitely wearable and effortlessly chic, like the mademoiselle herself!  I have not sampled any of the items yet but am ready for the pure, fresh look that was shown on Chanel's Spring-Summer 2010 Ready-to-Wear runway show. I'm most anxious to test out the Soleil Tan de Chanel, a sheer illuminating fluid.  It's 10 degrees here and I'm thinking if I look sunkissed, I might feel warmer. I'm planning a trip to the Chanel counter this weekend to play with the collection-- can't wait!  At Chanel counters worldwide or see the collection on Chanel.com here.

St. Tropez Cosmetics Collection

user-pic
Bronzing-Rocks-Low-Res.jpgst tropez 1.jpg
I have this perpetual fear every time I leave NYC that I'm going to miss out on something (whether it be an event, a birthday, a sale...), so I don't like to go away for long periods of time otherwise I would totally pack up my stuff and go hibernate in my parents condo in Miami for the rest of the winter! I'm turning into a total lazy potato sack that's too afraid to go outside in the frigid cold while I slowly turn ghostly pale! Luckily my apartment is spacious enough that I can invite people over to my place for small get-togethers when I'm too scared of the cold outside:) That said no matter the weather we've got to keep up appearances and St. Tropez's new cosmetics collection can help us who are not fortune enough to have a glowing tan. Their new line has three products formulated to be used on the face and body --
Only one shade is offered in each, but they can be built-up for a deeper effect. Ultimately the three products achieve similar results (if you're looking for something a bit more on the matte side however, out of all of them, the bronzing powder seemed to give the least amount of shine), the one you choose depends on your preferred application method and the type of skin you have. My fave is the Bronzing Powder  which I've been using all over my face and decolletage and then topping with Estee Lauder's Opulent Shimmer. Find out more about the line here!

Benefit Powderazzi

user-pic
powderazzi.jpg More bronzing fun from Benefit! I got the Powderazzi just in time for my trip to NYC this week.  Despite the snow and freezing weather, I'm looking healthy and flushed today thanks to the new set that combines three of Benefit's best selling bronzers.  This is a brilliant idea, you can blend to the shade you like without looking too orange or too bronze.  I would toss that useless square brush, though, and use your own powder brush.  I don't know why they have such a tiny brush for a bronzer meant to be swept over your entire face!  And I had no idea there was a bronzer named Dallas!?!?  Definitely appropriate as the girls here are tan all year round for some reason. Benefit Powderazzi 3-in-1 Face Powder Kit here for $30

Snob Steals and Deals: Too Faced Decade of Glamour

user-pic

Now isn't this the cutest little make up kit you've ever seen? Too Faced celebrated its 10 year anniversary with the Too Faced Decade of Glamour Beauty Wardrobe Makeup Collection. It comes with its most popular products for the past 10 years. This is a great try me kit for Too Faced, or I'm thinking of giving it as gifts to the younger ones in my family. It's cute just to display on their dresser, and I love the silhouette of the girl in the bronzer/blush. The products are all deluxe sample size but for $19.50 for a $195 value who can go wrong? It's got a variety of color and product so this is great for the experimenting beginner or the beauty lover like us!

Get it at Sephora for $19.50.

If you have never tried NARS Orgasm blush, this is a great time to do so. This kit comes with the Orgasm blush, Laguna bronzer, and an Orgasm nail polish. This kit is great because everything complements each other. The bronzer helps contour with a sun-kissed look and the blush gives you this illuminating morning after glow. And the nail polish is so pretty too. It looks just like the blush, a peachy pink with glimpses of shimmer. This kit is so versatile, it is flattering on almost all skin tones. This kit is now on sale at Sephora for $35. That's like pay $2 less for the blush/bronzer and getting the polish for free!

Evolution of a Beauty Snob: Jennifer Garner

user-pic
jengarnerbeautysnob.jpg This is the perfect example of how one can age gracefully and beautifully.  Not that Jennifer Garner is old but see how cute she looks at every age!?!?  She's always age appropriate and never looks like she's trying too hard.  The bright red lips worked when she was 20 but she's softened up with beige-y pinks and nudes now that she's pushing 40.  Her eye make up is stronger (so important to have the little eyeliner lift when you don't want to resort to Botox) and she's glowing with just a touch of light bronzing powder.  I still love my Prescriptives custom blend bronzer best, it's not too orange-y nor does it sparkle, it just gives me a really nice color.  The consistency is also very lightweight and not cakey nor powdery!  Go to your nearest Prescriptives counter because this is not something you can do online.

Post-Wax/Sugar Must-Haves

user-pic
2008-10-29-tfp-grn-sm.gifrelief.gif

Warm weather can only mean one thing -- amping-up how often I go to Shobha for a bikini sugaring -- ouch (though a lot less ouch than with waxing!). That said getting waxed or sugared takes up-keep. In addition to applying hydrocortisone cream after getting it done, you have to cleanse the bikini area. Shobha actually has a great Aftercare Kit ($38), that includes hydrocortisone cream, an exfoliating cloth, and freshening cloths. Sweetspot also makes some great wipes ($12). The Shobha exfoliating cloth is way better than a regular loafah because it's very flexible, machine-washable, it's made from all-natural plant fibers, and it can be folded-up very small for travel. Also an Ingrown Relief Lotion ($22) is a must -- there's no point to hair removal if you're going to end-up with bumps and ingrowns! For pre-prep, talc-free power ($7) adds freshness while absorbing excess moisture (can be used for bikini area and underarms). If you go to Shobha you'll notice that whoever is sugaring or waxing you will apply some of their powder before beginning the wax/sugar as well as after. Check-out the website for the full run-down so as to make the hair removal process as pain-less as possible!
