I am obsessed with Motives cosmetics (especially the liquid to powder foundation), and so inspired by its creator, Loren Ridinger. Now this is a girl after my own heart! She is not one to sit back and wait for things to happen, she MAKES them happen! Last week in Miami, Loren announced her partnership with world renowned celebrity make-up artist Scott Barnes in front of a sold out crowd of 25,000 people during Market America's annual World Conference at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
Scott Barnes celebrity make-up artist in charge of creating Jennifer Lopez's famous flawless sun kissed glow announced his new limited edition make up collection "The Present" exclusively to be sold at MarketAmerica.com and www.motivescosmetics.com site. This partnership marks a strong and successful partnership between Scott and long-time friend Loren Ridinger who will follow-up by adding an exclusive Motives cosmetic insert in his new book About Face.

Awards season means pampering lounges for celebrities as they prepare for the big day. VIP guests, including moi, received hair and makeup make overs and manicures at the In Style beauty lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. Carlito Ortiz did an amazing job turning my hair into a wild and curly bombshell do as I sat alongside Joy Bryant and Perrey Reeves (Ari Gold's wife on Entourage).
"For the campaign I chose to feature women I knew and wanted to celebrate because they are confident & beautiful."-- Bobbi BrownFor Spring 2010, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is featuring images of "real women" - friends who have inspired Bobbi with their integrity and passions-- instead of models. I was asked by Bobbi to be in the campaign (I almost burst with excitement when she finished a phone conversation with me on another project and said calmly "by the way, I'll see you at the campaign") and flew out last October to participate in what will be one of the most memorable beauty moments in my life. This is a 3 part ad campaign, I was told I'm in part 2... but jump to see behind the scene photos now!
Bobbi is also answering questions LIVE on twitter starting now until 1:30pmEST here!!!

Admittedly, as a fashion and style writer, I don't often get the chance to interview beauty experts. But when I heard that Scott "Body Bling" Barnes was releasing About Face - Amazing Transformations Using the Secrets of the Top Celebrity Makeup Artist, a new book 240-page coffee table book featuring 20 dramatic makeovers, I was immediately drawn to check it out. After all, this is the makeup guru--artist's artist is more accurate--that was responsible for Jennifer Lopez's stunning looks in the movie "Maid in Manhattan" and music video "Jenny From the Block," two of my all-time favorite on-screen productions. In advance of the book's official debut next week, when longtime clients Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Mariska Hargitay will host a party in Barnes's honor in New York City, I chatted with the beauty expert on a bevy of topics. Herewith, his thoughts:
-What's your personal makeup resolution for 2010?
"Honestly, I've been really getting into more fantasy stuff. I've always had a love for that but at this point in my career I feel like I can break into it a little bit more, which is fun. I've gotten a lot of people calling me for [work on] videos!"

Here is a unique way to spend New Years with Lady Gaga and a new set of breasts from New York's Park Avenue Plastic Surgeon Dr. Stephen Greenberg. This might sound random but I bet this package is the missing puzzle piece in someone's life. The entire package includes Rolls Royce chauffeured night out on New Years Eve to see performances by Lady Gaga, John Legend and Brody Jenner. You get a total of 3 tables so invite all your friends. Then, I am assuming this happens sometimes after all the partying, you get breast augmentation by Dr. Greenberg in New York followed by a first class flight back to Miami for recovery at your choice of 5 Penthouses for a month with a 24 hour nurse and unlimited spa treatments. This package is being promoted as the Most Expensive New Years Eve event, going for an even $100,000.

I can only imagine the conversation that took place between Nic and her make up artist after these photos were published internationally (it probably ended with someone fired and/or in tears). I am a fan of highlighting powder myself, but when a make up artist at NBC dusted similar white powder under my eyes and on my nose I was a bit concerned. I actually wiped it off before I went on camera. Apparently Nicole had hers done in the dark, possibly by a person with severe vision problems. Note to Nic: always bring your own mirror!
I hardly blink at the weird pitches I get from PR people these days but this one, this one tops them all! I had to share the email I got from Momlogic on crazy facials. They asked me: would YOU get a sperm facial? Uh, who's sperm do they mean by that? Has it been tested? Yuck! I mean I will go pretty far for beauty but even I have my limits! Apparently women everywhere are shelling out big bucks to have stuff like human placenta, foreskin, and even bird poop slathered on their faces to look younger and wrinkle-free. That's right, BIRD POOP. This actually gives me an idea, perhaps I should start bottling my five year old's urine and selling it to these women. Hmmm.... entrepreneurial mind is ticking away...... Check out the World's Craziest Facials here
And tell me snobs, what do you think of sperm facials? SNOB OR SLOB?
Estee Lauder sure is pumping money towards the holiday collections this year. I was at Mitsukoshi department store in Taipei yesterday and the busiest counter (amongst the 100 Japanese, Chinese, European and American brands) was Estee Lauder. I was quite surprised and wandered over to take a look-- turned out they were offering a discount plus gift with purchase! The women were lined up three rows deeps-- Asian women love a good discount and a free gift is even better! I don't use anything from Estee Lauder (other than the ones sent to me for review) but the two new collections- Ultimate Red Color and Holiday 2009 Compacts will make great gifts for my relatives this holiday.
The Ultimate Red Color Collection is a luxurious, opulent collection that my aunts will love (I'm just not into such fancy and gilded packaging). The classic navy blue, Signature Estée Lauder packaging has been transformed to a holiday gold, encasing jewel-inspired shades of lavish plums and gold flecked caramels. At Estee Lauder here.
The classic Estée Lauder collectible compacts are back again this holiday season with stories such as: Asian Opulence, Draped in Jewels and Wrapped in Red-- all detailed in enamel and Swarovski crystals. More fancy schmancy stuff to give as gifts. What about you, are you a fan of Estee Lauder?

Rock & Republic and Essie have teamed up to create products in the season's latest matte trend. Uniting Essie's luxury nail color and care expertise with the fashion authority of Rock & Republic, this exclusive collaboration contains three limited-edition items that feature the shine-free look. The inspiration for this collaboration is Essie's Clearly Matte, an instant-mattifying finishing polish that transforms any high-shine nail lacquer into a no-luster fashion statement-- I have not tried this myself but am not sure if I want my nails to be matte. Matte nails feel unfinished to me but I guess that is the point, right? Will have to try this when I return to the States next month.
Now the All About Matte jean in Spill Black emblazoned with black lacquer spill detailing is of interest to me, very rock and roll! Plus I love Rock & Republic's Signature Skinny Denim Fit! The Top Matte Tee ($48), a slim-fit black jersey v-neck with red foil pocket detail completes the limited-edition capsule collection. The collection will be available at Rock & Republic retail locations and online at shop.rockandrepublic.com.
What do you think of the Matte trend?
