Ahava Pure Spa Line

user-pic

Earlier this month I got back from two weeks in Munich and Tel Aviv where my days were spent surrounded by a little too much chocolate and waaay too many pastries (in Munich delicious pastries and chocolate-covered marble cake scream out at you on every block!), so when I got back I thought it's crunch time and decided to take back-to-back spin classes. To say I couldn't bear the thought of moving afterward would be an understatement! The longest REV class up until then I had taken was 1.5 hours and that was while I was exercising regularly (I did not workout once during my trip which came less than a week after being in Nicaragua for 10 days where similarly I did little besides sit on my bum). Needless to say I needed some pampering post-workout. I rarely take baths, but decided to break with my norm and try out bath salts from Ahava. They're HUGE in Israel. It's the only cosmetics company indigenous to the Dead Sea region which is shrouded in skin-healing natural resources (people from all over the world come to bath in the water to help treat everything from eczema and rheumatoid arthritis, to cardiac disease and respiratory illnesses). Fresh Rice Sake Bath

user-pic

With the cold weather finally drifting on in, my body is starting to ache and get very dry. I love just sinking into a hot bath and relieve all my stresses. I've probably been taking a bath 2 times a week so far and it seems like I keep reaching for my Fresh Rice Sake Bath. This is a great way to pamper after a long hard day. And the smell is so intoxicating! Your bathroom smells so great afterward and really gets me in a happy mood. One tiny capful and my bath is full of bubbles. This relaxing bubble bath doesn't just help you relax, but it is also detoxifying your body, and your skin will feel silky smooth.

Real Sake (50%) and plant ingredients including pine, ginger, daikon radish, pomegranate, melissa and valerian - all help remove impurities from the body. Sake is known to lighten age spots, soothe irritations and regenerate the skin. Extract of young pine is noted for its anti-bacterial qualities; it aids in skin renewal. Ginger extract is deodorizing and purifying the skin is left so smooth by sake infused water.

They recommend to use this with the hottest water your can handle to get the full benefits. This is a bath best for a tired body, it will really get you in a sound state of mind, with the scent of sake and the heat of the bath. I usually just fall right sound asleep after this. And the price may seem steep, but that tiny capful is probably about 1 maybe 2 tablespoons, and will last you forever! You can get it at Sephora for $80. What do you do to relax?

New from Dermalogica

user-pic
derma 2.jpgdermalogica.jpg
About two weeks ago Dermalogica had a little event in their new Soho boutique and I was able to check-out some of their recently launched products. Prior to going to the store I had actually never tried anything from the line, but I was super impressed by how knowledgeable the staff was. One of their skin therapists performed what they call face mapping on me (it's free...you can just go in and request it!), which divides the skin into 14 zones and based on the skin therapists' observations and your concerns specific products are recommended. There was not one question, whether it be about my skin and its level of hydration and texture or about a specific ingredient in one of the Dermalogica products, that the woman who helped me wasn't able to answer -- may seem small, but I couldn't even begin to count how many times I've been beauty product shopping and unable to get a coherent product answer! As for their new products, they've got three of note. Jump for more!

Life: A New Range from Space NK

user-pic
LIFE CANDLES.jpg

I have to preface this post by saying that there are incredible markdowns going on right now on Space NK products. Candles are on sale for less than $10 at their namesake locations, at Bloomingdale's, and online (they're not in a special sale section so just got to Space NK-branded product section and browse!). Space NK is discontinuing some items and re-packaging others hence these amazing markdowns (I just picked-up a few more new things at Bloomies -- they slashed prices by 75% and then a few days ago took an extra 50% off that price! I got bath soaps for $2, candles for $7.50 and body lotion for $5 -- all in original packaging!). Now from the old to the new. Space NK, started by beauty guru Nicky Kinnaird, has just launched a new range of everyday essentials all of which are free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, and silicone. The products come in a range of scents (Tomato Rhubarb, Mandarin Grapefruit, Gingered Woods, Patchouli Suede, Midnight Jasmine), as well as unfragranced ones. Each fragrance is target towards a specific part of the day and the price points are slightly more mild than Space NK-branded items. Note the candles, which are the highlight of the collection, are available at Space NK boutiques now and I've also seen them at the Space NK section at Bloomingdale's (though the official launch isn't till July 8 which is when they'll be available online). The rest of the collection is hitting this fall, but I thought I would highlight it now so you can plan your Space NK shopping accordingly -- it's definitely worth leaving some room in your budget for this line!  Learn more after the jump!

Philip B Reformulated

user-pic
I've written about Philip B before and now I'm excited to say that the whole Philip B Botanicals line has been reformulated to be environmentally friendly! The products are entirely paraben, phthalate and petrochemical-free, but they kept all the pure botanicals, so the line is truly better than ever. Plus they've got a bunch of delicious scents! Some personal picks include the Chai Latte Body Wash - it's inspired by the Starbucks Chai -- love Chai lattes..not Starbucks, but I'm still a fan of the product! It's formulated with honey (a natural alpha hydroxy acid and humectant that binds moisture to your skin, leaving it nice and soft), Milk Proteins for gentle exfoliation, Black Tea for tightening and toning, and a mix of pure Indian extracts (Cardamom, Cinnamon, Ginger, Black Pepper, and Nutmeg). I'm also a fan of the Thai Tea Body Wash which is enriched with fresh-cut lemongrass, ginger root, peppermint citronella, coconut, lime, pure herbal skin conditioners, and milk proteins. Both washes leave your skin soft (though I do have to put a bit of moisturizer on my legs after I shower). On a side note almost all of Philip's products come in travel-size -- perfect as we all plan our summer vacations!

Pangea = Beauty + Nature!

user-pic
pangea.jpg In all my years of being obsessed with beauty products nothing comes even close to how much I LOVE Pangea. Seriously I can't think of a person who has come to my apartment that I haven't gone on and on about this line to! It's completely genius. The packaging is planteable! Soak the packaging of almost all of their products in water for one minute, plant it about 1" deep in soil, and voila! In just a few weeks you'll have flowering Amaranth (Bar Soaps), Genovese Sweet Basil (Facial Cream), even a spruce tree (Pangea Organics Pangea Gift Box -- buy and plant it now and maybe you'll have your very own Christmas tree by next winter!). They've got a ton of products to choose from. I personally love their Pangea Organics Lip Balm, Fennel with Grapefruit & Sweet Orange. I'm usually not a fan of fennel and previously have sworn by L'Occitane's Shea Butter one, but what can I say -- this one's better! Their Shower Gels are also nice and made entirely without synthetic preservatives, sulfates or detergents (so it's not a suddy mess!). Plus they're thick (ie concentrated to last longer and not watered down with water). I've also tried their bar soaps which smell and feel great only complaint is that they're not super long-lasting, but I love that the ingredients are chosen to have specific effects on the body and mind (ie Lavender with Damiana Tea clarifies the mind and soothes the body -- Lavender is antiseptic/relieves tension, while Damiana Tea is anti-inflammatory/aphrodisiac). The scents really do make them relaxing. They've also got great Hand & Body Lotions and about a million different face products as well as a nice selection of oils.

Chanel No. 5 Milk Bath

user-pic
chanel_no5_milkbath.jpg

Love Chanel No. 5 so much you just want to bath in it? Now you can, Chanel has just introduced the No. 5 Milk Bath. It is perfect for Mother's Day since I think your mom is tired of getting perfume year after year. Well, I think the sons have no idea what else to get so that's the only thing they can think of. My husband has been getting perfume for his mom for 20 years now, she has an entire display of all the perfumes on her counter in the bathroom. I'm like, "Don't you think she has enough perfume? How much perfume do you think she needs?". I know, it's just the thought. Well, now that I am a mom and starting to have senior moments, I am ready for the perfume and milk bath set! At Chanel counters for $62.
