When I saw an ad for Squatty Potty randomly pop-up on my screen I took a picture and emailed it out to a few friends…how hilarious I thought…I couldn’t even believe it was real! Who the hell is going to put a stool like that around their toilet, let alone one called Squatty Potty?? Turns out the CEO of a successful media startup would (he’s a friend so I’ll let him remain nameless…). Of course when I spotted the Squatty Potty in his bathroom I started making fun of him for it and all he said was “have you seen their video?” I hadn’t, but I immediately Googled it….needless to say I am now the owner of three Squatty Potties.

The idea behind the contraption is that we are meant to eliminate squatting and that the modern toilet encourages an unnatural position (because of the straining that sitting causes), and therefore is at the root of many people’s bowel issues. Check-out the video because there’s nothing I can say that can convince you of this stool’s value quite like the video. I have to say though I do wish the stool looked a little more aesthetically pleasing…I sent one to my brother and his reaction was “what am I going to tell people when they see this in my bathroom!??” I told him….”say, have you seen the video?”
