Vega: Brendan Brazier’s Amazing Health Food
By Beauty Snob Sharon
October 29, 2012

I am obsessed with Brendan Brazier. The man is seriously awe-inspiring – a former professional Ironman triathlete and two-time Canadian 50km Ultra Marathon Champion, he is one of the only professional athletes in the world whose diet is 100 percent plant-based. He’s written books and travels the world giving talks, but the thing I’m most impressed by is his line of products. Called Vega, he makes a slew of clean, plant-based food bars, protein powders, oils, and more to fuel a healthy, active lifestyle. Unlike nearly all of his competitors however, this is a line that you can trust to be formulated with only the best ingredients.

I hate to cook HATE so food bars are a go-to for me because they’re quick and easy. Unfortunately most of them are, to put it simply, crap. They’re filled with empty calories, lots of saturated fat, tons of sugar, and plenty of sketchy processed ingredients (and I’m including ones you find at your local health food store). You get none of that with Vega’s bars. Their Vibrancy Bars are my favorite, but they’ve got the most delicious protein ones as well (covered in chocolate!). Don’t be turned off by the protein ones because they have 240 calories. The bar is 60g, which is a lot (though I’m not gonna lie…there are days where I’ve eaten more than two or three of these….), and the ingredients are so clean that your body will know just what to do with this bar (ie even if you eat three your body will be able to process them quickly and efficiently). I can’t stress enough how incredible what is in these bars is. You can literally understand all of the ingredients (this is VERY rare for something pre-packaged), and the quality is top (tons of protein and fiber as well). Remember: all calories are NOT created equally. Better yet they taste AMAZING – so amazing in fact that my dad eats them. My dad doesn’t anything healthy.

Bars aside, I also recommend trying out Vega’s Antioxidant Omega Oil Blend as dressing for your next salad. Read here for the health benefits. Again, this is a product that delivers quality, benefits, and taste.

There are so many things from Vega I still have yet to try. How amazing do these Vega SaviSeeds sound? They have 17 times more Omega-3 per ounce than wild Sockeye salmon.

Like I said….I’m obsessed!
