Not only was the Holmes & Yang Spring ’13 presentation beautiful on the outside (such an intimacy was perfect for really studying the clothes, which brimmed with effortless luxury, from the versatile quilted leather bomber to the cinch-waist jumpsuit to must-have camisoles), backstage was a blast!
The inspiration for the looks, which Bobbi Brown and John Barrett created personally: an accidentally beautiful girl who is feminine yet still in charge. Think pretty, but she doesn’t seem to know it. Since the collection’s palette featured neutral tans, bold reds, and pops of blue, they wisely opted for a nude face. Bobbi created “no-makeup makeup” with dewy cheeks, natural blush (in her shade Antigua), along with “naturally” long lashes. John Barrett created his signature braids, a curls-and-twist concoction. Then the hair master grabbed me and did my hair to match the models! It was such a thrill to have my hair done by the guru himself! Trust I’m going to make this intricately messy style last as long as humanly possible.
