Elemis Instant Refreshing Gel
By Beauty Snob Sharon
August 28, 2012

I was curious to try Elemis Instant Refreshing Gel ($52) because my legs were crazy sore after a few intense workouts at Barry’s Bootcamp (trust, this place can change your body!). One of the trainers I workout with told me that my best bet was to take a warm shower or lay in a stream room and apply a cooling skincare product with arnica in its formulation. The cooling effect of the skincare product is more or less a temporary solution to distract from the pain and I wasn’t all that optimistic about Elemis since most gels cool for no more than a few seconds – boy was I wrong! This non-sticky gel got progressively more intense to the point where it felt almost like there were needles in my legs. Not painful per se, but not the most pleasant feeling. It has a minty scent, which contributes to the cooling effect and it’s formulated with extracts of arnica, birch and witch hazel, and camphor and menthol for cooling. If you got seriously sore muscles like I did, this will be a welcome relief and far and away offers the most intensely cooling feeling from any product like this that I’ve tried, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t actually have sore muscles.
