Cartier Baiser Vole EDP (“stolen kiss” in French) has been a go-to for me since it launched last summer. It’s based entirely on the lily flower because when asked, eight out of ten men pick the lily as having their favorite floral scent. It uses the entirety of the lily (stem and all), and the result is a sexy, but not aggressive scent that’s feminine without being frilly. Needless to say when the EDT version came out a few weeks ago I couldn’t wait to try it. The EDP is actually very light and powdery so truth be told  Baiser Vole Eau de Toilette ($85 for the .6 oz EDT Spray and $125 for the 3.3 oz EDT Spray), didn’t appear all that much different from the original to me (the biggest difference might be that it’s green versus pink in hue!).

Both fragrances were conceived by Cartier’s in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent and while the first one focused on the blossoming lily, the Eau de Toilette is focused on the lily bud “picked in its early hours” (hence the color of the scent which ties into the pastel green of the lily’s leaves). I spoke with my best friend Christine (formerly of IFF, she is now a perfumer based in Munich), and she agreed with me that the differences were very subtle. Nonetheless, while I can’t tell much of a difference between the two Baiser Vole scents, the collection is unique making both fragrances certainly worth checking-out….plus the bottles are fantastic; they look like classic Cartier lighters.
