L’Artisan Parfumeur Timbuktu Eau de Toilette: Savage Beauty

Our sense of smell, like no other sense, has the ability to instantly transport us to another place and time and alter our present reality, at least for a moment. Along with igniting passion, stimulating desire, and giving off generally good vibes, perfume is meant to transport. Few do that like Timbuktu by L’Artisan Parfumeur.

It’s wild, it’s savage, and it’s not for everyone! Creator Bertrand Duchaufour, who loves natural, animalic notes, was motivated to make Timbuktu after a voyage to Mali in West Africa. With layers of dark (patchouli, musk, cumin) and light (citrus, soft vanilla), it’s inspired by the ancient, incense-filled mating rituals of Mali tribes! It’s sexy, for sure, but with pink pepper, karo- karoundé, and vetiver, it is sensual in a mysterious, dangerous, almost even dirty way. High on drama and completely transportive, this is a gift for the earthy glamazon who refuses to smell like anyone else. At Barneys New York for $145 (for 100ml).
