Bang Abuse: If You See Something, Say Something

I have often called bangs the new Botox. While a new hairdo is preferably to chemicals to the face, celebs have now taken the bang trend too far. Bangs are supposed to frame the face, not curtain it.

Clearly, some very lovely ladies never got the memo. Olivia Wilde is a classic beauty; the bangs do nothing for her. I want to see her face! The same goes for Bryce Dallas Howard. She’s one of my favorite actresses, but she needs to grow out her fringe, stat. As for Kelly Rowland, you would never say she looks like Britney in a million years, right? But with those bangs?! The smoky-eyed pop stars look like long-lost sisters. I’ll admit it’s almost silly to seriously comment on Nicki Minaj’s wacky style, but her platinum bangs should apply for their own zip code. I have no idea who the girl in red with Kellan Lutz is, but she was at the “Twilight” premiere so she must be somebody, somebody with bad bangs.

Starlets, bangs are meant to enhance, not hide your face. And don’t let them forget you have a pair of eyebrows! If you want to get a heavy bang right, make sure it’s slightly layered and face-framing, not overwhelming. Take a cue from Reese Witherspoon. Her fringe falls with perfect ease, setting off her bright blue eyes and dusting her eyebrows, not covering them completely. Let’s hand it to her for a bang-up job!
