Tom Ford Beauty Traceless Foundation Stick
By Beauty Snob Sharon
November 7, 2011

It’s hard not to sound like a paid spokesperson when talking about Tom Ford’s 120-piece cosmetic range because it’s just that flawlessly fantastic. I mean wow – I dare you to stop by one of his boutiques, Neiman Marcus, or Bergdorf Goodman and not want it all! I previewed the range at a Fashion’s Night Out event back in September and last week I went to Bergdorf Goodman where Ford was doing a personal appearance to launch the collection. The packaging, the color range, and the quality of the products I’ve tried is absolutely fantastic and if there’s one designer that understands beauty it’s Mr. Ford, who was even more gracious and dapper in person than I could have imagined. Seriously, forget Brian Atwood — Tom Ford could make even the most fashion averse woman swoon! As for the product at hand, the Traceless Foundation Stick ($78), it comes in 12 shades and while you’re likely to find one that you could use as an all-over foundation (for me it’s bisque), if you can afford to splurge I’d get one to use under your eyes and one all over your face.

If you’re looking to use this product for all-over coverage you must use a primer (thankfully Beauty Snob Tina has attested to Tom Ford having a great one in his range). If you don’t layer the foundation over a primer it will just kind of sit on your skin, which is fine if you’re just trying to cover a blemish, but won’t work for an all-over, streak-free look. Once you layer it over primer (I used Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15), it glides on incredibly smoothly. I’ve been applying two little swipes on my face and then using my fingertips to cover my face. I then set the look with powder.

If you live on the East Coast like I do you’re probably prone to dry skin, but as long as you use primer you won’t have to worry about the stick dehydrating your skin.

I’d love to have this, but the suggestion of having one for under eyes and one for face would be $160 for foundation, not unheard of, but still a bit pricey. Thanks for the review but I may have to wait on it.

It’s definitely, like everything Tom Ford does, expensive, but the quality really lives up to the price. The day he did his PA at Bergdorf they actually sold over $50,000 worth of the makeup. It’s pretty impossible to resist when you see it/try it!
