We Care Spa – A Detox Retreat

We have all heard about detox. It makes sense to us, sure we would like to remove toxins from our body. Sounds like a good idea, right? But have you really thought about why you need to detox? It may seem that our bodies are designed to naturally detox, that’s what most of our organs do, it removes waste and delivers vital nutrients. Most people think that their bodies can take care of itself and does not need outside intervention. Although that may be true, our bodies were never designed to take on the amount of poisons, toxins and processed food we eat, not to mention apply on our skin. We overload our system with so much to do that it never catches up. And here’s the disturbing part – what happens to all that stuff in your body that your body does not have time and resource to process? It festers, rots and petrifies on an ongoing basis. That’s right. Unless you just came out of a 2 week detox, there is food that you’ve eaten months ago that is still in your intestines turning into poison and being carried to all your cells throughout your body via your blood stream. This is why we all need to detox.

Only a few hundred years ago, people were eating what came directly from nature – whole grains, fresh produce and only as much animal meat as you can physically catch. That’s what our bodies were designed to process. Think about how we eat now – things that come in a packages full of ingredients we can’t pronounce much less know what they are. Chemicals are all around us. Maybe one day humans will evolve and be able to handle this bombardment of harsh chemicals and toxins, but while evolution takes millions of year, industrialization and technology happened essentially overnight. We’re not there yet but in the meantime, there is something you can do.

Very few of us can go back to eating and living as we did hundreds of years ago. But we have the luxury of going to a detox spa (or doing it for free at home) where we can get our bodies back to what it should be, free of toxins. Sure, there are many detox resorts but We Care Spa is special and truly unique. It was started by Susana Lombardi Belen 25 years ago and she runs it with her daughter Susan. This family run resort is more of a home than a business, you feel like they are taking you into their happy home to take care of you and they are passionate about doing it. The resort is beautiful in its warmth and charm, and is literally an oasis in the middle of the Palm Springs desert (I thought I was lost because there was nothing around and then suddenly, I see this cluster of trees and plants and the resort hidden among it all). It is incredibly relaxing, homey and comfortable.

The process of detoxing at We Care Spa is a bit complicated but involves drinking many different liquids, each doing a different job in the detoxing process. You do not eat solid food, it is a juice fast meaning everything you take in is in liquid form (including the soup, which is the highlight of the day in the late afternoon). There are also many many treatments that work together with fasting to promote the detoxing of your overall system, such as saunas, jacuzzi, massages, facials, yoga classes, meditations, specialized work out machines (Vibra Trim and Swing Machine) and but most importantly the hydro-colonic.

Don’t be scared, I was at first as well but was put to ease after the orientation and overview of the machine that is used. The colonic is an essential part of detoxing. The fasting gives your body a break so it can catch up on processing what is already in your system. There is also a highly fibrous detox drink that acts like a scrub that cleans the gunk from the walls of your pipes. But the colonic is what takes it all away efficiently and quickly. I’ll spare you the details but I have to tell you what I heard from a man who was there for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks of not eating a single solid meal, there was still stuff coming out during his colonic. Think about that. That is A LOT of stuff stuck inside. I also spoke to a woman who was on day 5 of a 7 day stay. She was all of 100 lbs but she said she lost 7 lbs in 5 days. And it wasn’t fat or water loss, it was what came out of her intestines. The colon specialist there said that with one treatment, you can flush out as much as 10 lbs of intestinal waste that has been backed up and stuck in there for YEARS!! After hearing all this, I was like, “HOOK THAT THING UP AND GET ALL THAT STUFF OUT OF ME NOW!!!”.

In addition to the treatment program, there are many inspiring/relaxing retreats you can do like the labyrinth, floating bed, temple of gravity, the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. There are also fasting cleanse and physiology classes taught by the many specialist there. Susana gave us a 1 hour class on how our 7 organs of elimination work (our natural detox system). This changed my life. She not only taught us how our bodies work but she convinced me how I should change the way I eat and treat my body. I will never eat refined grains ever again. The information is so important, I will share what I learned in another story. I’ll also tell you how you can detox for free at home. In fact, it’s better than free, you will save money from all the food you’re not going to eat!

I will be going back to We Care Spa with my husband later this year. I plan on sharing this experience and treatment program with all those I love and care about. Health is priceless but achievable. I can see why the return rate at We Care Spa is 85%. I for one, plan on being a regular there. Go to the We Care Spa website for treatment plans and rates (which are very affordable).

food you ate 2 months ago is not still in your intestines – just ask a doctor. this kind of pseudoscience turns smart women off to your posts.

I absolutely agree that what nature gives us is the best. I you look at the animal world, there is only raw food, nothing cooked. And juice fasting is even quicker way to detoxify; it is just one step in front of the raw diet.

@Anonymous – the stuff coming out is from the colon, not the intestines. Please check your facts before being disparaging.
