I’ve been to a lot of events over the years, but one of the most memorable took place a few days ago when I went to the famed NYC restaurant Aureole (though I don’t think anything could top the old townhouse space where the restaurant was located up until last year, the new Tihany-designed restaurant is beautiful as well – especially for lunch). Jo Malone hosted an amazing fragrance, wine, and food pairing event along with Eileen Crane of Domaine Carneros by Taittinger who was recently named the most powerful woman in Napa by Forbes Magazine. A friend of mine recently had a dinner party in which she asked everyone to bring a bottle of wine with a printout that had all of the information about the wine on it and we went through each of them and taste-tested and then rated them while trying them paired with various small bites. It’s a super fun, memorable, interactive way to host a dinner party and I love the idea of throwing fragrances into the mix. This particular pairing was perfect for me because I’m a big fan of sparkling wine/champagne, but it can be done with any wines of your choosing.
