2010 is shaping up to be the year of the lip, so what better than Dolce & Gabbana’s newest lipstick collection to glam up your next close encounter? “The Roses” line, out this month, marks the first anniversary of the Italian fashion house’s makeup line and is a Pat McGrath-concocted, straight-from-the-runway, color collection that is both timeless and on trend. What I like about these lipsticks (pictured above, from left to right: Shine On, Baby Darling, Magnifica, Scarlett & Fascination) is that the shades appeal to every woman. From apricot-peach to intense mauve red, they’re feminine yet bold and pay tribute to Dolce & Gabbana’s love of flowers–in particular the rose. “To me, lips are a woman’s most evocative feature; they are the focus of her femininity,” says Domenico Dolce. Each lipstick boasts a velvety smooth fragrance redolent of the wild rose gardens of Sicily, innate to the designers’ deepest roots. Ladies, time to pucker up this Valentine’s Day.
