I am very excited about Chanel's new lipstick collection-- the Rouge Coco Hydrating Lip Colors. I've been wearing more lipstick myself lately, it lasts longer than lip gloss and many formulations have a shine to it so you really don't need another coat of gloss.
"Women seem to have forgotten how to apply lipstick," Peter Philips told WWD, Chanel's global creative director for makeup. "We have a whole generation of lip-gloss girls. Now, there's absolutely nothing wrong with lip gloss -- but there is something so feminine about the act of applying lipstick. I want to make lipstick as easy to apply as lip gloss, and for a long-lasting formula to feel comfortable on the lips."
Rouge Coco will launch in March at Chanel counters worldwide and will replace the existing Hydrabase line. It's interesting to note that while lip gloss reigns in Japan in the US, in France, the beauty snobs still prefer a lady like lipstick! The Rouge Coco collection will be one of the most anticipated and important launches for Chanel in 2010-- we are certainly waiting with abated breath! The line will have 30 colors ($30) and each is named for a part of Coco Chanel's life like "Mademoiselle", a soft pink; "Camelia", a deep rose, and "Paris", a bright red. All through college I sported a deep red Chanel lipstick-- I felt sophisticated every time I pulled out my sleek black tube. I can't wait to pick up a tube of Paris!
What about you? Lipstick or Lip gloss?
