Frugal Snob: Crazylibellule

For years I carried around a travel-size Allure eau de toilette in my purse. It always shacked around and the cap often fell off, so whenever I had a bag I cared particularly about I couldn't take it with me out of fear that spillage might occur. How much easier life has gotten now that there are so many wonderful solid perfumes to choose from! Crazylibellule is one such fabulously fun brand (Parisian of course!). All the fragrances in the line are shaped and sized to be about as big as a lipstick and they can all be layered. The packaging is super fun and colorful and I love how light and refreshing the scents are (all the ones I've tried would work for both men and women). To boot each stick is only $18 which is great for those who like to mix up their fragrance throughout their day/depending on their mood. For added value (or in light of the upcoming holiday season -- can't believe it's so soon!), there's also the Crazylibellule and the Poppies Shanghaijava Collection ($54 Value) ($36).

shiseidopeony.jpgShiseido has partnered up with Cancer and Careers once again for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In support of this initiative, Shiseido will donate $5 for every unit of Shiseido Makeup Luminizing Satin Eye Color in Peony (PK305), sold throughout the month of October to Cancer and Careers, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting working women living with cancer. Shiseido Makeup Luminizing Satin Eye Color is the newest creation from Dick Page, Shiseido Artistic Director. Inspired by tile mosaics, Luminizing Satin Eye Color is versatile enough to layer with other colors for a brilliant blend or bold enough to wear alone. First previewed at Fall 2009 New York Fashion Week, Dick Page introduced his first eye color collection on the runways for leading designers including Michael Kors and Narciso Rodriguez. I just ordered mine, your turn :)

MAC Style Black brings back memories

MAC's latest and greatest showed up at my door this weekend and I was transported back to my high school days in the 80's. The Greasepaint sticks in black and blue? Reminded me of my Robert Smith of The Cure moments. Blue flame eye shadow? I did that, with the black eyeliner (I didn't say I looked pretty!). The only thing I stopped at was black lipstick back then, way too Goth for me. I was just trendy, never rebellious or strange (I remember the Goth kids with black lipstick and safety pins in their noses, yikes!). What's worthy of checking out is the Glimmer glass lip glosses. The 'Bling Black' is actually a pale gold with flecks of dark silver. Could be very sexy on date night! Even the skincare is black, I loved the Volcanic Ash exfoliator and mask, very gentle yet gets all that gunk out of your poors. I am definitely giving the black lipstick and black lip gloss to my niece though. Can't imagine what the hubby would do if I showed up at dinner with black lips. What about you? Will you try the black lipstick and black lip gloss? MAC Style Black Collection here.

Molly Sims: Get the look!

mollyshair.jpgWe love Molly Sims (she will be guest blogging for us next month!)!  She looked gorgeous in this fun, flirty yet sophisticated hair style at the 6th ANNUAL FRIENDS OF EL FARO EVENT she hosts every year.

We got the details From Fekkai stylist, Angee,on how she achieved this look so you can try it at home!

First, Angee sprayed FEKKAI COIFF™ BOUFFANT LIFTING & TEXTURIZING SPRAY GEL to the wet hair to add body and fullness. She then blow-dried the hair with a diffuser to add volume.

Next, she curled the hair with a 1 ½ iron and placed the curls in pins.

After ten minutes she took down the pins. Then, Angee tossed the hair with her finger tips. She finished the look with the FEKKAI SHEER HOLD® HAIRSPRAY to hold the style in place and loosely combed the head band back for easy maintenance, creating a fresh and styled look.

Terralina Gentle Facial Exfoliator

| Leave Comment
exfoliator2.jpgHere we go again creeping into the cool weather when skin gets flaky, dry, and as a result more sensitive. I don't exfoliate my skin year-round because I get the feeling that when I do, my skin gets more prone to sun damage, so I only do it regularly fall through early spring when my skin begins to really dry-up. Natural beauty company Terralina has come-out with Terralina Gentle Facial Exfoliator ($24 for 2.75oz), which targets just the kind of skin I'm talking about. The beads in the cleanser aren't overly harsh and the scent isn't obtrusive. The formulation is 98.65% natural and works for even those who, like me, have very sensitive skin given that it does not contain parabens, PEGs, ethoxylates, glycol, acrylates, silicones, harsh alcohols, mineral oils, or artificial fragrance. While even in the dead of winter I never exfoliate more than 3-4 times a week, supposedly this formulation is gentle enough to use everyday. To boot the exfoliator is packaged in a tube made of 40% post consumer recycled material!

Ask Bobbi Brown

bobbiask.jpgOur resident Beauty/Health expert, Bobbi Brown, decided to answer two readers' questions even though her commitment is for one question per month. This is why we love Bobbi, she is generous with her time and very committed to helping women find their most natural beauty!

If you have questions for Bobbi, please leave it in comments! Bobbi is personally reading and answering these questions so fire away!!!

1. From Lottie in London
I have a question for the skin and Health expert (Really do think you should team together and do dietsnob-every women is interested in health, exercise and diet!!)
When I go on holiday I don't really feel that I should be doing my usual makeup routine of foundation, powder, bronzer etc...yet I would still like to achieve that flawless dewy skin that I do with my makeup on!! Is this possible or am I living in my usual dream world?!

Bobby Says: Even when you're taking a vacation from your regular makeup routine, you can still have flawless-looking skin.   A Tinted Moisturizer with SPF is a great three-in-one product that will give you coverage while also hydrating your skin and protecting it from UV rays. If you need more coverage, spot-apply foundation in the areas where you need it most instead of all over your face. If you can't live without blush, try a cream blush like my Pot Rouge, which will look dewy and also stay put when you're swimming. At night, dab a little shimmer on your lids and along your cheekbones and you're good to go.

2. From: Annie

Bobbi, what is the easiest way to take my day makeup to night makeup without having to re-do my entire face?

Bobbi Says: Taking your makeup from day to night doesn't have to take a lot of time or energy and you don't have to start from scratch. It's all about adding a little drama to your routine look with a few simple, quick tricks.

First, freshen up. Touch-up with a concealer (Beauty Snob note: Creamy concealer is my fave!) and foundation where needed to even out your skin tone. Use your fingers to apply--their natural heat will warm up the product and help blend it into your skin. Next, apply a blush that is slightly brighter than your daytime shade on the apples of your cheeks to give them a pop of color.

Depending on what you have in mind, there are several ways to transform your makeup. Adding a little shimmer to your lips, eyes or cheeks (but not all three!) is an easy way to dress up your look- I like to dust a little bit of Shimmer Brick on to my cheeks for a pretty glow. Iridescent bronze cheeks look great with smoky brown eyes and copper lips. Don't forget that if you're wearing a dress that shows off your neck and chest to sweep a little bronzer on the exposed skin.

A smoky eye is another great way to get your look party-ready. Sweep on a darker eye shadow, line your top and lower lid, and brush on several coats of mascara to finish. Pair your smoky eye with a pale, medium or dark lip color depending on how dramatic you want to go.

If you don't want to change your eye makeup, you can also try switching to a darker, deeper shade of lip color, like a red or burgundy. One of my favorite evening looks is a minimal eye complemented by a red lip and a pink cheek.

Finally, dab on a spritz of perfume, head out and have fun.
