Naturopathica Green Tea and Wasabi Mask

user-pic

Naturopathica-Green-Tea-Wasabi-Mask.jpg

I know, this sounds like what you had with last night's dinner but this mask is so natural you could probably eat it! I love the Naturopathica line, it is holistic and effective. If you don't have time or on a budget, using the right products could replace your monthly facials. I have been running around, traveling like crazy so my facial schedule is totally off. I have all these events to go to so I have to make sure I look good. This mask works miracles. It is anti aging and renews your skin cells with raw wasabi and green tea extracts. It will make your skin soft and smooth so I have been using it the day before a big event to make sure my makeup goes on evenly. So the big question is, does that wasabi sting? Yes, it does a little, I love the feeling of products working on my skin so I don't mind but this isn't as strong as come acid or enzyme masks I've used. It also is not green, it kind of looks like chocolate chip coffee ice cream, the raw wasabi are little dark specks. I am starting to try more from this line that I have come to love!! At Naturopathica for $56.

Senna Cosmetics Voluptulash

user-pic

Senna_voluptulash.jpgSenna_voluptulash_package.jpg

I have been wearing these lashes even though I felt they were a bit too much and dramatic for day but they look so good so I just didn't care. But to my surprise everyone is asking me if they are my real lashes. Even Tina thought I was bathing myself in eyelash grow conditioner or something because she couldn't tell, even on close inspection, if they were false lashes. I think the trick is in the criss cross design as well as the graduated length. I don't even put mascara over them, usually that helps to mask the fakeness. I have been lash obsessed and tried every kind - Shu Uemura, Makeup Forever, MAC, Laura Mercier, even drugstore brands. My search is over, I am ordering a dozen of these. The only thing that looks more natural are the individual lashes but those are a pain in the ass and these go on in literally 10 seconds. These are reusable but you have to be careful when removing them. I use a Q-tip with make up remover to run along the lash line, this also saves your real lashes from being pulled out. Use tweezers to remove excess glue from the band, I ruined a pair because I tried to pull it off with my fingers and ended up yanking a row of lashes off. These are the best things ever for sexy, flirty, big eyes!! At Senna Cosmetics for $17.

Blast your fat away! The New Anti-Lipo

user-pic
absjenaniston1.jpgNon-invasive and high tech plastic surgery is the hottest topic of late; these treatments are purportedly safe-- or are they?  I am a bit freaked out by the newest in the battle against bulge called Ultra Shape-- an ultra sound treatment that will melt fat permanently and painlessly invented by Tel Aviv plastic surgeon Ami Glicksman. According to Glicksman, the ultrasound shakes the fat cells to the point that they break down and are metabolized by the liver (What? is that safe for the liver? so you're devouring your own fat? is this what the obsession for perfection has come to? Self-cannibalism?)

This procedure is pending FDA approval and will cost roughly $2,500 per session. Ultra Shape will only work in small pockets of fat (don't expect it to remove 50 pounds of fat-- that will require actual exercise)-- best for belly bulges, saddlebags and knees. I don't know about this, sounds like a lot of money for very little in return and who knows what the risks are for your liver!? What about you-- would you risk your health to be thin?

Snob Beauties: Who Looks Younger?

user-pic
donnakarangp.jpg Is it me or is Donna Karan looking amazingly young for her age?   Gwyneth Paltrow is at least 2 decades younger but they look the same age (actually, Donna Karan almost looks younger than the pale blond except for the loose skin hanging from her neck). Whether it's the result of a good doctor or good genes, she looks fantastic! Who do you think looks younger? Gwynnie or Donna?  (this is of course totally unfair since they are decades apart but DK is def a contender!)

Backstage Beauty: Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2009

user-pic
00110m.jpg00090m.jpg00080m.jpg Photos from Style.com

The makeup look at Narciso Rodriguez was created by Shiseido's Artistic Director Dick Page who kept the models skin clean with hardly any foundation on their faces (Shiseido's S1 Accentuating Color Stick was used on the cheekbones for that slight dewy-feel). Similar to the natural-looking look he created at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Page used nothing more than a touch of lip balm on the lips, keeping the focus on the models eyes. As you can see from the pictures above it's really the rimmed eyes that stand-out. To create the look Page mixed Shiseido's Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil in black with Aquaphor and then applied it, using a brush, to the upper and lower lash lines. What do you think about the look Dick Page created?

Backstage Beauty: 3.1 Philip Lim Fall 2009

user-pic
00060m.jpg00040m.jpg00030m.jpg Photos from Style.com

Bowl cuts, pale lips and mascara only on half of the models lashes -- oh my! This season Phillip Lim was so taken by Tao Okamoto's signature mushroom-like bob and her "plain face" that he called her his beauty inspiration. Lim had all the models in his show wearing a Okamoto-esque wig (Okamoto was Lim's opening model and the only one without a wig), and muted-mod makeup. NARS's lead makeup artist, Ayako, created the look which involved false lashes placed on the outer half of the bottom lash line. Then matte charcoal shadow was used with a wet eyeliner brush to draw lashes beneath and shimmering pink and gold shadows covered the lids. As for the lips, they were muted with NARS concealer and sheer matte foundation was used on the skin. To give a touch of shimmer to the matte skin, NARS Single Eyeshadow in Bombshell was brushed from the apple of the cheeks up to the temples for shimmer without pigmentation. How do you feel about this Okamoto-inspired look?

Bobbi Brown Fashion Week 2009

user-pic

I was bummed to miss Bobbi over Fashion Week, I was arriving in NYC as she was taking off for a family vacation in Colorado. When I asked her how she could be gone over Fashion Week she replied "It's President's Day-- holiday family time!". This is why she is my hero! Check out Bobbi in action at the Rachel Roy show last week.
