It's ridiculous how much  make up I have but you know, there is always room for fabulous new products!  I discovered Jane Iredale mineral make up at Cooper Spa yesterday and returned twice to pick up more things from the line.  I had just finished Kinesis with my trainer Lara and had to meet a friend downtown at the BIG sale so I ran into the spa, grabbed a brush, put some Amazing Base on, applied Cotton Candy blush (with 24k gold!), and ran out the door.  When I looked in the rearview mirror of my car, I couldn't believe how great my skin looked!  It was like I just woke up from a nice long nap! (Yes, if I do say so myself!  But all of my friends throughout the day kept complimenting on my flawless skin. My friend Dana went over right after work to buy hers after seeing me!).    (Jump for more and instructions to use!)

I picked up my son to go to the doctor in the afternoon but stopped at the spa again to get the Amazing Base, blush and Lip drink (you'll read about that another time, it's one of the best things I've ever put on my lips!). I couldn't remember what shade of Amazing Base I put on so we had to drag the entire palette out to try each one. My little four year old helped, he's such a great sounding board! He gave comments such as, "That looks yucky mommy" "Is this make up for you? Or is it for me? Put some on me and let me try" And finally, "You look pretty mommy"-- we went with that one.

Anyhoo, I re-did my make up last night when my son was in the tub and made my husband look at my skin to see if he could detect any make up and he agreed it was flawless. And trust me, this is one picky man.

Amazing base is for those with drier skin, it leaves a nice dewy finish. For oily skin, you can try Pure Pressed Base. I've never liked mineral make up but this one is truly amazing. Go here to find your shade. For more blush colors, click here.

Here are the steps to flawless skin-- in 30 seconds or less!

1. Dip powder brush in the pot and tap against it twice to remove access
2. Three strokes vertically (from under eye down to jaw) on each side of face
3. One stroke straight down T zone and chin
4. Two strokes diagonally down left of forehead, two strokes diagonally down right of forehead.
5. Two strokes out from nose to cheeks on each side.
6. Smile and apply Cotton Candy blush to the apple of your cheeks.

VOILA. You should look about 18 years old. You must try this! Call Cooper Spa and receive free shipping when you mention Beauty Snob! 214-383-1010

Or if you live in the area, stop by Cooper Spa and pick up a few gift certificates for your friends-- they make the best birthday and Christmas gifts!

  • Hey Tina,

Do you know how much these two products sell for? Would you say these are better than Bare Escentuals bareMinerals? Thanks!

  • I have the concealer and like it, particularly when I am in a rush. You just twist the tube and it fills the built-in applicator.

  • Hi Tina,

Which base shade did you end up getting in the end? Also, why didn't you like mineral makeup before? Thanks!

    Isabelle

    • Hi Isabelle,
I got Amber shade in Amazing base (but also got Satin to mix it with). I thought Bare Escentuals was very harsh looking, but this is so different! It feels like nothing on my face but I am totally made up with just a few strokes, it's amazing!

And that Cotton Candy blush with 24k gold, LOVE! Going to swipe some on and run to pilates now!

  • I just discovered the same set of products this fall. I've been using the Jane Iredale powder and blush since September and my skin hasn't looked better! You might also like the Whisper blush. It's very similar to Cotton Candy with the 24k gold specks, but it's a little more peachy. I tried both and couldn't decide which one looked better, so I bought both. I found that my MAC 187 skunk brush delivers the best application of blush. :-)

    • Thanks for the tip!

I also want to tell everyone that if you want a heavier coverage for night time, you can repeat the above process and layer coats of the Amazing base on your skin. Just "buff" with a big brush and it will glow!

  • Hi Fabulous,

Any pictures we can feast our eyes on? I'm torn between the Laura Mercier illuminating tinted moisturizer and this!!

    xoxo

    • I have both and I feel Laura Mercier illuminating is more appropriate in the summer months. I want a more polished look in the winter.

This is still sheer but without as much shine. It gives you a soft glow...

  • so i wear fairly light from BE right now, does anyone know what shade would be the closest match for the JI?

  • I recently bought Jane Iredale mineral make-up at my local salon. I tend towards acne, and I have oily skin, but it is also sensitive, and breaks out easily. After 1 week of J.I., I started to have pink bumps all over my cheeks. At first, I thought I was just having a hormonal break-out (which was sad because my face has been clear for almost a year), but then I did some investigating and realized that cosmetics can cause cosmetic acne. The description was exactly what I had. I stopped using it and after a few days my skin was back to normal. I definitely had a bad reaction.
