Beauty Snob of the week: Jennifer Aniston

user-pic
04v.jpg

One of my all time favorite celebs is Jennifer Aniston. She has amazing skin and a body to die for (if you must know, I always tell my trainer Lara to "Make my body rock like Jennifer Aniston!). Jen works hard for that body (with a mix of yoga, pilates and running) and despite turmoil in her personal life, she's always carried herself with grace and dignity. She's Vogue's cover girl this month and we found the products that Gucci Westman used on her for that carefree California girl glow.  Have to say I am not crazy about the photo they chose for the cover (red dress upper right).  I prefer the more casual one below right (in shorts sitting with knee up- tres sexy!).  To get Jen's beach chic look:

Peter Thomas Roth: Pumpkin Enzyme Peel

user-pic

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
AAA.jpg

When all the crap you will eat today gets processed by your body, you better hope it doesn't show up on your face! I know for a fact that there are foods that make me break out, foods that make me oily and foods that make me puffy. But when you can't control the menu, control your facial routine to counteract it! What better way to gently dissolve those dead skin cells than with pumpkin enzymes? This not only sounds delicious, but also like a healthy kick for your delicate skin =) Peter Thomas Roth is one of my favorite companies, and I would highly recommend giving them a try. Pumpkin Enzyme Peel ($44.00) also harnesses the emollient power of vitamin A and anti-oxidants in order to leave your skin refreshed and silky smooth!

Philosophy Pumpkin Pie GUILT FREE Goodness!!

user-pic

"Pumpkin, spice, and everything nice collide..."

pumpkin.jpg
Its that time of year again...The time when you already feel guilty for the food you haven't even eaten yet!! Not very long ago, I was watching a show on the discovery channel about courtship practices around the world. The specific episode that has remained fresh in my memory was about a family in Africa that was getting the eldest daughter ready for marriage, by feeding her AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!! Seriously, they weighed her when she began, and then monitored her weight gain for the next few weeks- literally feeding her cream and butter to increase her 'value'!! ...I'm a little jealous. In America weight is a controversial topic. Regardless of what side of the scale you weigh in on, here are two holiday treats we can all enjoy- Guilt Free!! If you haven't tried Philosophy products yet, you either need to. Ever delicious product that comes out of the Philosophy Kitchen ...err, Lab, smells exactly like what it claims to be. Many times I have had to stop myself from dipping a finger into my Cinnamon Buns Shampoo and taking a big lick! I digress- Pumpkin Spice Muffin Lip Shine is a great way to enjoy everyones favorite holiday dessert, zero calories! And what better way to get you into the holiday spirit then lathering up with Pumpkin Spice Muffin Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath?

Tocca Bagno da Viaggio

user-pic
Tocca.jpg

Tocca has three Bagno da Viaggio gift sets for the holidays. They all look great, but the one that stands-out (and the one I tried-out!), is the Cleopatra ($48) one. It's an almond oil-enriched bath and body collection infused with grapefruit and cucumber and packaged in a Tocca signature box. The set includes -- 4 oz Bagno Profumato (foaming bath gel that's fairly hydrating and can be used on all skin types), 4 oz Crema Da Corpo (a nourishing all-over body cream that can be used on those with sensitive skin), and 2.85 oz Candelina (a travel-sized candle with a 20 hour burn time). This is one of those gift sets that doesn't need any wrapping. It comes in a super-chic cream-colored box with a gold rim (it reminds me of those fab dessert boxes they have at La Duree in Paris!). My absolute favorite thing about this set is that when you open the box it says "love yourself" in beautiful cursive letters -- could there be a better message!? With all the stress going on these days this set is a nice way to give someone a little something clean, refreshing, and light to help them relax this holiday season!

Frederic Fekkai Coiff Celebration of Style and Hair Crystals

user-pic

Great hair is always something to be thankful for which is why I think Frederic Fekkai's Coiff Celebration of Style ($30) and the Frederic Fekkai Spray On Hair Crystals ($18.50) both make great gifts/stocking stuffers this holiday season! First off the packaging of the Fekkai products is always tops -- everything from the logo to the colors is simple and understated, but distinctive and elegant. The gift box is a limited edition one and given how many of us travel during the holiday season it's super convenient that everything in it is travel-size. Plus, the three products in the set are varied so you'll have the keys to straight, tousled, and curly hair with --
- 1.5 oz Anti-Frizz Crème (my fave out of the three! Do yourself a favor and get this one for yourself in full-size -- unbelievably lightweight and so quick and easy you just put it on your hair when it's damp and it's the best preventative measure against frizz!), 1.5 oz Ironless Straightening Balm, and 1.0 oz Finishing Crème. Lastly, Frederic Fekkai's Spray On Hair Crystals -- I'm usually fairly hairspray averse because of the stiffness, but this one actually gives you hold while allowing movement and none of that gross, clumpy-ness. This isn't news to anyone who uses the Frederic Fekkai Hold hairspray though, so what makes it a great holiday gift you ask? It sprays hair crystals and slight color for wonderful shimmer:) I love champagne (who doesn't, right!?), but it also comes in copper, and bronze!

COVER FX

user-pic
Angelina Jolie.jpg I was told off the record that Angelina Jolie uses COVER FX to cover her tattoos for certain movie roles. I have yet to try COVER FX myself (I actually have no tattoos, but I've heard good things about their Mineral Powder Foundation, $32), but they have the most extensive global color palette of any line on the market today and it was created by a corrective foundation artist Lee Graff and a chemical engineer Jenny Frankel. Have a tattoo you regret? Have you tried this out? Let us know!

YSL- The Iconic Smokey Eye

user-pic
yslsmokeyeyes.jpg
Inspired by the iconic Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo, these limited edition palettes allow you to create the perfect 'smoky eye' and contrast it with a naturally radiant complexion !

yslsmokeyeye2.jpgSmoky Eye Palette : the black shade outlines the eyes for a stylish look; shades the eyelids for an intense smoky finish or blends with the metallic grey shade to create a blurred halo. The final touch of light: the "champagne" white shade captures the light and subtly moderates the effects. - Radiant Complexion Palette : the beige powder enhances the face with velvet-smooth transparency and is ideal for touch-ups through out the day ; the apricot blush warms and enlivens the complexion ; Applied on the cheekbones, the eyebrow arch and the chin, the pearly pink shade highlights the features with subtle golden reflections.

They are available exclusively online at $60 each palette! Also, you can enjoy free shipping for all orders over $100

MAC-Hello Kitty Collection: Snob or Slob?

user-pic
Hello Kitty.jpg Image from WWD. A few days ago I went over to the MAC headquarters and along with a few others had the chance to check-out the much speculated about MAC-Hello Kitty collection. I had to sign a piece of paper saying that I would not reveal anything that was mentioned beyond what was going to appear exclusively in WWD and I can't share any pictures I took till January 15th. Luckily, WWD has a picture so that you can see what I'm talking about. The MAC Hello Kitty color cosmetics collection will arrive on MAC's Web site February 10th, in North American stores on February 12th, and into overseas stores in March. I should start-off by saying that even as a kid I didn't like Hello Kitty and the fact that a cosmetic company is using a character that doesn't have a mouth to sell lip gloss I find sort of funny:) But really what I came away from this event with was that while I'm sure this collection will sell extremely well given how many obsessive MAC and Hello Kitty fans there are, I took one look at the products and thought they looked like cosmetics for little girls getting their first makeup kit. Don't get me wrong I'm all about the cutesy, but Hello Kitty seems over-done to me. I was actually very surprised to learn that the people at MAC are the first to develop a Hello Kitty makeup collection -- nonetheless Hello Kitty lacks freshness in my mind (again I totally get that there are people who LOVE Hello Kitty and can't get enough!). That said, they tried to take the sweet and innocent Kitty and give her an edge -- which does add a new dimension. Fittingly with that and with MAC's aesthetic, a lot of the packaging is black. More about the collection and what it will include after the jump!
