Kerastase Paris for damaged ends

keratesse.jpgBeing in the pool and ocean all summer has made my hair dry and though it's not damaged, I fear it is a mere matter of time. So I am testing out different brands to see how my hair responds. This week I am testing out Kerastase-- a brand long known for luxury haircare (though the parent company is L'Oreal, and I've always wondered how different it is from its drugstore counterpart). I got the Kerastase Creme Richesse because I was told it was the best of the bunch. After using it for a week, my hair doesn't feel healed, it just feels heavy and greasy. So disappointing considering all that I've heard and read about the line. Soleil Sun Exposed at Kerastase.com.

What measures are you taking to reverse the damage to your hair from surf and sun?

  • I'm using Kerastase too, but not the Creme Richesse. My pet peeve with most damage treatment products is that it weighs down my hair, so when I brought this up with my stylist she recommended Kerastase Ciment Thermique. I put some on before I blow-dry and I swear my hair's gotten healthier! The grapefruit smell is so yummy too.

  • I am using Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask. It's super moisturizing without making your hair heavy or greasy (and I even have fine hair). It's like magic for your hair and about 1/10th the cost of the Kerastase. But I do love other Kerastase products - just not the one you featured.

  • I use a mixture of jojoba oil and avocado oil... its amazing for dry damaged hair and its also great if you are losing hair (apply on your scalp and through your hair, leave in for 30 minutes then shampoo out) Doesn't grease up your hair or weigh it down.

  • I'm practically a vampire who doesn't swim, but my hair is dyed and fried. SP by Wella has good treatment masks, as does Joico's Moisture Recovery line.

  • Have you tried the Age Recharge hair masque? I swear by this!!! Very very good!!

I think Kerastase is one of the best out there. There's that Nutritive (orange) line that's great as well.

  • I just wanted to let you know, you are not the only one who has the weighed down issue with Kerastase products, cuz I have had the same issue. I stole a jar of the hair mask for thick hair from my mom (and my hair is thick, dry, damaged!) and I bought the reconstructing milk, and they both make my hair feel coated and heavy. I purchased the Kim Vo moisturizing mask on a trip in vegas, and it works really really well!

  • whenever i use any hair treatment product i always end up breaking out. any suggestions as to a product that WONT do this but will still salvage my hair from all the sun's damage?

  • I feel so strongly about Kerastase that I have made it our exclusive hair care line at 209 Downtown Salon & Spa in McKinney, Texas.
