Clinique Superbalm is the Bomb!

clq_6M23_250.jpgNew lip gloss addiction alert! I received samples of the ultra moisturizing superbalm from Clinique and tossed it in my travel vanity case (I have to admit that I have not used anything from Clinique since I was very young). When I arrived in Paris after a very long flight, I discovered I forgot my favorite lipbalm from Fresh- Sugar. I was about to run to the pharmacy for chapstick when I saw the Moisturizing Superblam in my bag from Clinique. I swiped a dollop on my lips and do you know what I used the entire 17 days in Paris in London? That's right, I am officially addicted! I always thought of it as lip gloss, not realizing it works better than anything to moisturize, smooth and add shine to my lips! The colors they sent me were great but now I want more more more, so I am going to the Clinique counter tomorrow to get a few other shades. This is so perfect for the summer because it's light and sheer, it doesn't stay on as long as other kinds but it just feels so good on! You can also order online for $13.50 At Clinique.com

Agent Provocateur Body Glamour

Agent Provocateur Body Glamour
($40) was one of those products I just had to have despite a seriously foul smell that I knew would refrain me from ever using the product. Has anyone else ever fallen victim to cute packaging? I just loved the shape of the bottle and the signature pink and black color-combo works so well I knew this would look fab in my bathroom! Of course, I'm kicking myself for needlessly spending $40 (though for Agent Provocateur isn't that kiiind of a bargain?), because it takes up room on my already cluttered bathroom counter-top. It's too bad that all of Agent Provocateur's products smell like cheap granny perfume, (even their pink tissues that come in a sleek black box with sexy messages like Desire Me printed on both the box and the tissues themselves, are scented with this scent that just makes my stomach turn), because I truly love everything about the way these products look! On a side note, I find their bras similarly to look fab, so I buy them often even though they feel cheaply made and more so then not, end-up itching me to the point where I can't wear them or they seem to fall apart easily. Someone help AP so I don't continually have buyer's remorse!

Richard is a Software Engineer and is responsible for helping us get started, he trained us (no easy task as we both have short attention spans) and he still maintains our site. He also pays our Bag Snob bills (with our money but neither Kelly nor I can balance a checkbook to save our lives so we depend on Rich to tell us how much money we have to spend!) plus he keeps all the ads and artwork on our sites current. We don't pay him regularly but the privilege of being Kelly's husband is payment enough for him.

enlighten_thumb.jpg I first became aware of the Jan Marini product line through a friend. One day I was looking at her eyelashes, and I noticed that they looked significantly lusher in the past few months. I probed her for her secret until she reviled to me that she had begun using an eyelash conditioner, by Jan Marini. NOTE: We will feature this next month with before and after photos, so stay tuned! In the mean time, I have been using Age Intervention Enlighten Facial Lotion and I love it. There are a ton of facial lotions on the market (many that we have shared with you on the site) but very few are products we use continually and even pass on to our friends. I loved this moisturizer because it really made my face feel “enlightened” –if that’s possible? The formula combines anti aging ingredients and two topical agents that even out any discoloration in your skin, to give it a more uniform complexion. The result is a brighter, refined and rejuvenated face. If you like facials, there is a chance you have already been pampered by these products without even knowing it!

Bobbi Brown Mauve Collection

bobbimauve.jpgbobbimauve2.jpg

This July, Bobbi introduces her Mauve Collection- a must-have for those desiring definition and polish without looking overdone. Inspired by Ali McGraw’s vintage look in the classic film “Love Story,” the collection’s range of mauve shades will flatter every skintone. I have never liked the word "mauve" but it is such a flattering color on me (and most of my friends). A subtle brownish pink that adds just enough color without overwhelming, it's the shade of the moment and Bobbi's palette is just sublime. It was sitting on my table when I arrived home last night (what a great treat to come home to after 17 days of traveling!) and I used it this morning to liven up my jet lagged and hungover sallow complexion (I have never drank so much champagne and wine in my life!). Within a few strokes and I'm all rosy and glowing again. Don't you just love the magic of make up?

Bobbi's collection features the new, limited-edition Mauve Face Palette in addition to several new products for lips and eyes, including: Black Mauve Shimmer Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner ($19)-- we are obsessed with Bobbi's gel liners and this color is really cool! Black Pearl and Iced Mauve Shimmer Lip Glosses ($19), Mauve Lip Gloss, and Heather Mauve and Pale Mauve Lip Colors ($22). You must try this out next month when it hits the Bobbi counters-- it's now one of my favorite palette combos! Mauve Palette above $55. At Bobbi Brown.com and stores worldwide.

SpinLash

I'm pretty gadget averse, so SpinLash is about as tech as I go (the two-part Revolving Mascara took me a good 5 minutes to figure-out...is it just me or were the instructions confusing?!) Anyway, the mechanism, once I figured it out, is super-easy -- just pop the SpinLash mascara onto the stick, hold-down a button, and the mascara brush will begin rotating slowly to apply mascara (black or brown), as it combs through your lashes. It took me a few times to figure out how to properly use it, because while it rotates slowly, it's very efficient -- it worked way faster than I thought so the first time I tried it I had tons of big clumps in my lashes! That said, it really only takes practice and after 2 or 3 times you get the hang of it, and I have to say that for $14.95, I found the quality of the brush to be above-average and the mascara was long-lasting. Besides leaving your lashes mostly clump-free, SpinLash's greatest asset is that it does a great job at separating and elongating...gotta love long, dark lashes!

However, a major drawback for me is that the SpinLash is both longer and wider than your average mascara, so there's no fitting it in a clutch when I go out. Also the packaging-- bronzed plastic -- is just crying for a makeover! Buy SpinLash here!

stila Lip Color with SPF

| Leave Comment

P210578_hero.jpg

I usually stick with glosses because, most days, I want a touch of shine without any added color so, typically I wouldn't even have tried stila's SPF 20 shine lip color ($22) in the Georgina shade, but I happen to be looking for some makeup to complement a new pair of Stella McCartney red pumps I just got to go with a vintage Chloe wedding dress I bought (yes wedding dress! But other than it being long and white it really doesn't look like one:) )...Anyway,Georgina is the perfect color (no traces of orange or pink, yet not too deep of a red), and since this outfit is for a party out in Southampton I'm loving that it has SPF, however what really sealed the deal for me was the smell -- vanilla!
Besides going on smooth and being relatively lightweight I loved the smell...so many lipsticks and even glosses are sticky, smelly messes so this one is a nice change. The package also says that it has Vitamins A, C and E:)

Mixing up Moisturizers: L'Occitane and Curel

L%27Occitane.jpg200.jpg

Every winter I think -- uch this cold weather, it makes my skin so dry! -- then every summer I think the exact same think about the heat! Needless to say, the majority of my body care products are body moisturizers so, like shampoos and conditioners, I like to mix things-up when it comes to my moisturizers. Always a favorite though is L'Occitane's Amande Firming & Soothing Milk Concentrate ($38). There is nothing that smells quiet as delicious (you'll litterally smell the fresh almond scent through the packaging!). I just tried Curel's Natural Healing Nourishing Lotion however and it's pretty great too (and at $2.99-$9.99 depending on the size, it's significantly cheaper). I was attracted by the ingredients which include lavender, chamomile, and oatmeal extracts, so I wasn't surprised when I loved the smell -- it has a just-got-out-of-the-shower soapy smell and it's nice and greasy which I like. Unfortunately it doesn't moisturize for as long as L'Occitane's body cream and the packaging doesn't exactly make me want to show it off in my bathroom (metallic blue, plastic), but for the price it's better than most Neutrogena and Dove products I've tried (both of which don't have the most appealing packaging either...though again at these prices, I cant really complain:)...).
Has anyone tried any other good moisturizers lately that would be worth trying out!?
