There are many things in life that a girl can not live without... one of which is of course going to the spa! This Mother's Day weekend, I treated myself to a trip to the Spa at Ponte Vedra Inn and Club at Ponte Vedra Beach, a Florida landmark since 1928!! I really needed to de-compress from work induced stress. What started as a hobby for Kelly and I is now a full time job-- we still love what we do but the eight plus hour workdays is more than we ever anticipated! So I felt perfectly justified to indulge at one of the most beautiful spas in the country during my week long trip in Florida. From the minute I checked in until I was driven back to my hotel room, I felt absolutely pampered. (Jump for more!)

The 30,000+ sq. feet spa is impressive to say the least. The 3,000 sq ft waiting room was one of the grandest I have ever seen; with sweeping high ceilings and fabric gently draping from above plus a larger than life fountain in the center of it all! But beyond the accommodations, the staff was amazing. I arrived an hour late for my appointment due to scheduling error on my part but they were more than accommodating (and this was on Mother's Day!) and changed my appointments on the spot so I didn't miss out on any of the treatments. I was impressed before my services even began!

The Spa Director took me to the locker rooms, totally high tech-- you choose your own code so there is no annoying locker key to dangle from your wrist. I changed quickly and settled in one of the deep fluffly seats. Within minutes, my manicurist came to take me back to the nail salon. I reluctantly followed her as I was so comfortable in the resting room and did not want to move! She was completely professional and efficient, I found out she was a make up artist for Nars in New York City and worked backstage in many fashion shows (fashion people seem to follow me everywhere, even on vacation!). She moved to Florida when she got married and had a baby. Anyway, I had never had my cuticles so meticulously cleaned. Yes, cleaned; not trimmed or cut, but gently and slowly pushed back and cleaned! And the best part is it, she had a lotion warmer so when she massaged my hands and wrists, the lotion was nice and warm-- now why can't all spas have that?
I was led back to the resting room to await my masseuse, who showed up within minutes-- boy this place really runs like clockwork! My nails were wet so I decided to stay on my stomach the entire time. I melted with the first touch and felt my stress completely give way to as the masseuse worked out all the knots on my back and in my shoulders from being hunched over a computer. After the massage, I was invited to use the spa's private pool over looking the ocean. Can you say heaven? This is one of the best spas in the US, no wonder Oprah went goo goo ga ga over it!
If you are ever in the area (Orlando is two hours away, you can leave the kids with the hubby at Disneyworld and sneak over to the PV spa for a day!) you must try the Spa at Ponte Vedra Inn and Club!!! There is also a gym that looks out to the ocean, I stayed on the treadmill for an hour mesmerized looking for dolphins. As a friend of mine who lives in PV says, "life just doesn't get better than this". I couldn't agree more!
