M LAB

I learn from the best (my mother, of course!) so I know that when it comes to maintaining young looking skin you can never start too early. Naturally, my mother was the first to tell me about M LAB. Their line of skincare products has higher than average clinically-active ingredients – 45 to 74% versus the average 10 to 20%, and though I have no way of assessing those percentages, there is no denying that after using their Anti-Aging Eye Cream for a little over a week, my eyes have less discoloration and puffiness (though part of that surely has to do with the Memorial Day Weekend relaxing-effect :) ) (Jump for more!)

Congrats to Maggie and LaQuesta!! You are both totally "fetch" for knowing the correct answer!

I will always love Lindsay Lohan, if only for “Mean Girls” alone. What word does Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert) keep trying to work into conversation that is just “not going to happen?”

Kat Von D: Sexy Make up!

I am fascinated with tattoos as a form of self expression-- not that I am daring enough to tattoo stuff all over myself but I love looking at them on other people. I mean, it's not like buying a new dress, a tattoo (for the most part) is permanent! So it takes a very daring and decisive individual-- not me, because I am totally indecisive and can not even decide on what I'm having for lunch without changing my order 2 or 3 times let alone a permanent ink drawing on my bum. However, if you happen to be considering a tattoo or two or three, katvond.jpgyou must check out Kat Von D-- the Tattoo Artist of choice of the trendy Hollywood jet set (those little paw prints on Eve? Kat's work!). She is known for glamorizing the once taboo tattoo and now she wants to beautify your face, too! Her collection of make up palettes embrace old Hollywood glamour and is a must for those of us too timid to walk into her tattoo parlor. My favorite is the Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Ludwig, a collection of bold browns and deep blues for you to blend and shade. I played around with it and love using the dark blue as a tint of accent on the outer edge of my upper lids- it's sexy without being overdone. The browns and beiges are of course staples for daily use but if you do get the urge to express yourself with a flower or symbol, go see Kat at High Voltage Tattoo! $34 at Sephora.

"Spinning glamor into another orbit: our magnetic field of hot fluorescents, modern buffs, beiges and flesh tones are destined to test the laws of your style gravity. With these supersonic shades and neon orange compacts, go shock the galaxy!"

WOWZA! MAC has been coming out with some great lines lately and this is no let down. At first sight I wasn't exactly grabbed by this 60's/70's meets science fiction make up combo, but after a look at the color palate and ready-made "looks" I was grabbing my laptop to place an order! One of my favorite make up trends of the summer is pairing neutral shades with bright neons. No other brand has captured this look better than MAC. Toss out your springy pastels, and sizzle into summer with nudes and neons!

Congratulations to Tracy and CB!!! The book was "Love in the Time of Cholera"!!

Serendipity.gif
I was really mad when they featured my favorite New York ice cream place in the movie “Serendipity.” After that movie came out, the wait time jumped to over two hours for a table!!! Their frozen hot chocolate is worth it though! And the movies is so charming that I couldn’t be too upset. What is the name of the book that Kate Beckinsale writes her phone number in that John Cusack’s character spends years looking for in used book stores?

Shu Uemura False Eyelash Applicator

shu_lashapp

Is the fear of messing up the false eyelash application keeping your from wearing them on a daily basis? Fret no more, if you love falsies you must have this handy tool in your back pocket for perfection every time. This tweezer-like applicator grips the lash in the perfectly curled position, ready for you to apply the adhesive and then allows super easy attachment to your pretty lids. It is such a cinch you will wonder how you ever went without it! A few helpful pointers, don't use too much glue and make sure you use a stick to evenly coat the lashes with the glue. You do not need to push them into the lids, just gently place the lashes where you want them and let the glue do the rest of the work. These of course only work for banded lashes, for the individuals, you will still need to use a regular tweezer and be ever so careful. I have a hard time with those because I can't get them to all line up properly. You're supposed to use tweezers to press them into a neat line when you're all done but that is actually quite impossible to do on yourself. I'm still mastering that technique. But for the banded lashes, I no longer need exacting technique cuz I got this secret weapon! At Shu Uemura online for $55.

Minty Feet

mintyfeet.jpgIt’s almost embarrassing to say, but I have an aversion to mint to the point where I still use bubble gum toothpaste! That said, when wearing heels is part of your day-to-day life and summer is fast approaching, it’s definitely time to crank up the heat on your foot-care. Mint seems to be especially effective for foot creams (maybe because of the potent smell!?). I’ve tested out a few and one that seems to work well is Peppermint Foot Therapy The line is dedicated solely to feet products, so I figure they must mean business! (More after the jump!)
