I got one of the best hair cuts of my life two weeks ago. The kind where girlfriends ask what you’ve done with yourself and tell you to continue doing it. No, it was not Philip or Orlando in New York, nor was it Kevin in LA. It was Garrett, owner of the month old Muse the Salon, right here in Dallas! After six years of living in Dallas but flying to NYC or LA for my haircuts, I finally found someone I can go to who is a mere 20 minutes away (you have no idea how thrilled my hubby is)! I can’t take all the credit for discovering this new salon and the amazingly talented owner though; one of my best tressed friends, Christine, has been trusting her golden locks to Garrett for years and she is the one who finally convinced me to take the dive and try a local hairdresser.

The day of my scheduled appointment was one of the worst rainy and freezing days of the year (with predictions of snow!) and I almost cancelled but then I thought, what do women in Sweden or Minnesota do when it rains/sleets/snows? I drove cautiously to Henderson Blvd where the salon is located, determined to not let the weather ruin my plans and I have to say it was one of the best decisions I ever made! Garrett greeted me at the door and offered me a cup of hot tea (which he brought to me himself) before asking me what I had in mind. Within minutes, I was shampooed and conditioned and back to my chair where Garrett began working his magic. I am a total hair snob and watched his every move, there was not a moment of uncertainty as Garrett worked quickly and efficiently at my hair so I finally relaxed. We chatted while he worked and I found out he was an educator for two major hair companies before returning to Dallas to be close to his family. He was essentially starting over but after 14 years of traveling and teaching, he was ready to come home.

Muse the Salon is an eclectic and timelessly stylish space where a woman can go to be pampered and beautified. Garrett is not like any salon owner I have ever known, he chose not to use his name for the salon but instead paid homage to his clients, his muses. He is warm and humble and one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Of course it’s easy to love a guy who made me look like a movie star after 30 minutes in his chair
He made it look so effortless and gave me exactly what I wanted- low maintenance hair that looks high maintenance! My layers float and frame my face at just the right spots and no matter how many times I’ve shampooed, it just gets better each time!

As Garrett told me, he is not interested in the latest trends but would rather interpret current fashions and tailoring it to each of his clients so they look unique and gorgeous. I went to lunch with two girlfriends right after my hair cut and both asked for his card. The same thing happened a week later at a birthday luncheon. Every where I go girlfriends have been commenting on my hair, which tells me I do look as fantastic as I feel! You know what I am talking about, life is good when you have good hair

Go see Garrett and you will know what it feels like to have a GREAT hair day, every day. Call 214-821-3434 for an appointment. Cuts start at $85. Muse the Salon – 2323 N. Henderson Ave. Suite 107 Dallas

Do you color your hair? It is soo difficult to find a good colorist!
Hi Amanda
I do not color my hair but am thinking about taking the plunge. I have noticed a few gray hairs since I gave birth! Gasp!!!
My friend goes to Cris and loves her! I will be trying her soon and giving you guys a full report.
xo
Which exact product did you get from the Profound Beauty line that helps with humidity. I certainly could use it.
Am tempted to try Garrett. I have a great stylist but it’s good to try new people no?
Maybe you can show us your new haircut?
A good hair stylist is the one thing on this planet I cannot live without. When I moved to Hong Kong, it was a LONG and EXPENSIVE year and a half (and destroying my hair in the process, sigh) before I found a real hair stylist again! Now I’m one happy gal and gladly fork over my credit card every 8 weeks for him to work the magic in my hair :p
