Dear Sheri,
I think you are in the 99% of the female population over age 30 who have the same concerns! I, too found myself with dark circles after having my son. For the first time, I found my self in the market for a concealer. I tried several brands but the best one, in my opinion, is from Secret Concealer from Laura Mercier. It is an amazing product specifically made to address dark circle and bags (you're right, terrible word to describe our face, it should only be used when discussing things we carry in our hands). There is also the Laura Mercier Camouflage Powder Brush
so you can apply the concealer with a lighter touch than your finger tips (and you won't rub on the delicate skin around the eye area too hard). Sometimes you will need more than others, on the days when you only want a light coverage, blend the concealer with your favorite eye cream and apply with the brush. You will not believe the difference it will make!
Good luck and let me know how you like the concealer!
xoxo

I love love love this concealer as well. It's as good as the Secret Camouflage - even though the secret camouflage is a little thicker and has more pigment in it.
This secret concealer's consistency and texture is great! Goes on easy and looks GREAT!

I also like to use YSL touche eclat on my dark circles. It doesn't so much as cover up my dark circles as it deflects light so they're no longer noticeable.

I've tried this and like as well, but my all time favorite is Cle de Peau. It stays longer than the LM concealer without being dry or pasty (LM is not dry or pasty - it's just this lasts longer on me)

Lauras concealers rocks, but if you rrreaaalllyy want to tackle the darkness under your eyes I would try Bobbi Browns concealers and correctors. I'm not being biased when I say this (I'm a MUA for them). I use their correctors underneath my concealers and it makes the biggest difference and I just happen to be naturally blessed with the undereyes of an insomniac (thanks mom!). It's a really creamy product so it keeps the undereye area hydrated. Find a counter and try it out!
