I have been sporting a heavy smoky eye look all winter and am frankly quite sick of it. I want sunshine, I want lightness, I want Spring! Considering the ground hog saw (or didn't see, can't remember which is which but I was told winter is not ending anytime soon) its shadow I will have to lighten up the mood for myself with this gorgeous limited edition eyeshadow quad from Laura Mercier. I can still achieve the depth of the smoky eye look with these light and shimmering shades but just won't look like I am about to go on stage to do the cabaret. Laura Mercier cosmetics is one of my favorite brands, I have never regretted a purchase at one of her counters (which is saying a LOT considering I am the sucker who buys anything and everything at make up counters just for fun) and use everything I have ever bought there (how amazing are her make up sponges?). Her eyeshadows always provide plenty of coverage without streaking (you know, like that flaky dry powdery texture a lot of cosmetic brands have) and the color lasts all day and night. Important for me as I do not like to re-apply eyeshadow before a cocktail party nor do I like to start over (I like to powder, gloss and go). The limited edition palette ($38) is available in two combinations:
Shy Violet includes:
• Deep-eggplant.
• Shimmery-maroon.
• Mauve.
• Pale-ivory-pink.
Wild Violet includes:
• Black-violet.
• Eggplant.
• Pink-mauve.
• Ivory-pearl.

I have some problems getting my secret camouflage to go on perfectly and not too cakey or cracky? Does anyone have any tips to help my apply and use it better?

Hi Christy
Do you have the original one? That is best used mixed with an eyecream. Her new secret concealer has the cream mixed in and it is moisture rich. http://www.lauramercier.com/products/flawless_face/products/concealers/secret_concealer/
I use both depending what I need. For spot covering, I like secret camouflage but for undereye, definitely mix it with your eye cream or get the secret concealer. Are you using her brush with it when you apply?

Thanks Tina! I think I do have the original one, the mixing part is always the hardest for me and how do I mix the eye cream with it? Do I just put some eye cream on the brush with the concealer? And I do have the secret camaflouge brush but I feel that its too thin to use for my undereyes.

Yeah, you're absolutely right! I am sick and tired of smoky eyes too. This looks great and the Wild Purple can easily be worn in the late saturday hours.
