Pur-lisse: Pure Beauty

I received an email last summer from a reader who wanted us to review her friend's new skin care line called "Pur-Lisse" (translated from the French words for pure, "pur" and smooth, "lisse,"). I get dozens of these emails per day and probably only answer one each week because we just do not have the time (or the skin) to try every new product out there! However, the reader was quite persistent and continued to keep in touch with Michelle, one of our former beauty editors. To be quite honest, I never gave it another thought until I opened up the January issue of ELLE last month and saw the face of a long lost friend staring back at me. The article was about a line of beauty products started by this long lost friend of mine (we lost touch 8 years ago), she is a beautiful actress and working model who developed her own line of skin care when her search for the ideal skin care regime came up short. I was excited to read about her and so proud of her achievement but I didn't put two and two together until I was cleaning out my email box a week later and came across an email from last August about "Pur-lisse". I had a total "DUH!" moment and ran for the Elle magazine to see if it was the same skin care line and sure enough it was one and the same! "Pur-lisse" by my long lost friend Jennifer!

I immediately contacted the reader and got Jennifer's contact info. We have been joyfully catching up on each other's lives and laughing about the very happy coincidence the last few weeks (who needs Facebook when we've got Beauty Snob?!?!). After 5 months (thanks for not giving up Erin!)- I finally got to try the products this weekend and I am really impressed with the line. Pur-lisse uses a blend of pure and natural ingredients including the Blue Lotus, an Asian blue water lily long used by Egyptian and Asian women for medicinal purposes and to preserve their youth and beauty. The products are also free of paraben and preservatives. I know you are going to think I am biased but if I did not like the products, I would not be writing about them (and would probably tell my friend to stick to her day job)! Here are my favorites- give them a whirl and I know you will love them too:

Pur- delicate cleanser: I am a total cleansing snob, I believe good skin starts with clean skin and i couldn't believe how well this cleanser worked on my skin. It rinsed off well and didn't leave my skin tight or dry, just clean and smooth. Even my eye make up (including the 3 coats of mascara I had on) came off easily. $38

Pur-protect- Daily moisturizer with spf 30. I love how this felt on my skin, I generally do not like moisturizers with spf because I have not found one that was moisturizing like this one. This makes it easy to travel with as I won't need both a day cream and a sunscreen. $55

Pur-youth
- This is the grand dame of the line, made of Lotus Lupine Peptide Complex, it immediately gives the skin a soft and velvety glow without any heavy oiliness. $135

And yes, she ships internationally so our Asian and European readers will be able to try the line too!

  • I was Jennifer's 6th grade teacher!! She is just a remarkable person and I can't be more proud of her. I just retired and she sent me the whole line to try, I just love it and HER!!!
I wish her nothing but total Success and Happiness.
