Saks Benefits St. Jude's Hospital

| Leave Comment

saks_mercedes.jpgsaks_trip.jpg

I’ve always supported St Jude’s Research Hospital. I think they’re a really well run charity with a really great cause. (St Jude’s covers all the costs for children with catastrophic diseases to come to their hospital/ research center and get care and treatment.) I’ve also always supported Saks so I was really excited to see the two come snowpeople.jpg
together this holiday season for such a great cause. They’re running a few really great programs that give you a variety of ways to support the charity. The first thing they are doing is selling an adorable book called Snowpeople ($16.99). It’s the tale of “…inquisitive snowpeople in search of their own identity…” They stop at Saks along the way of course! It’s a great gift for kids and two dollars from every book goes to St Jude’s 2007 Thanks & Giving Campaign. I’ve already ordered this book for all my friend’s children!

Saks is also selling five WOW gifts. These are truly luxury items for the most special person in your life. They range from a car to an amazing weekend away to front row VIP treatment at a rock concert. Prices range from $55,000 to $542,000 (for the car) but the payoff is huge - you get an amazing gift and the charity gets a sizable donation.

My favorite part of the site, and the most fun, is The Great SNOWPEOPLE Hunt! The idea is to go through the Saks catalog (It’s online for those of you who don’t have a hardcopy) and count all the snowpeople. When you think you have the final number, fill out the entry form and you’ll be entered to win a twenty-one day Antarctic vacation. It’s almost as good as one of our quizzes, right ladies? Saks is donating one dollar for every entry received so count away. This is also a great way to pass time if you are bored at work!

I really believe that the holidays are a time for giving and spreading love. Even if the most you can do is enter the online sweepstakes, I highly encourage you to do so! That dollar could help save a child’s life!

This is Unforgivable

Sean “Puffy” Combs claims he knows how a woman should smell. That was the statement he kept giving out when promoting his fragrance line. There was a huge media hoopla over the racy ads when he launched, but I didn’t really take much notice. I figured it was probably decent – he’s a smart business man and I figured he lent his name out to a great perfume maker. Well, I was browsing through Sephora the other day and came across the Sean John display and decided to have a whiff. It was gross! Apparently Puffy thinks we should all smell the way the old dresser in the basement that your grandma keeps quilts in does. Seriously, the perfume smells like a citrus dryer sheet gone wrong. My roommate who was with me and the salesperson who saw me gag when I smelled it both agreed. This was nothing to be impressed by and definitely nothing to ever purchase! If you dig smelling musty it’s $55 at Sephora.com Sean John Unforgivable Woman 2.5 oz Eau de Toilette Spray

Bobbi Brown Fantasy Trunk

Holy beauty heaven!! Looks like Santa has done his market research and created the most awesome beauty set the world has ever seen! I mean, who wouldn't want a luxurious pink leather trunk filled with everything you could possibly want from Bobbi Brown? It's like going to the Bobbi Brown counter and taking home their entire display (but brand new and unused of course). If someone bought this for me for Christmas, I would be a very very happy wife (hint hint). I feel like a little kid in a toy store looking at this, it makes me all anxious with giddiness and desire. I would go home and play with it for hours and get really mad if someone even remotely look at it much less touch it. There is a total of 60 items, including foundation, brushes, eyeshadows, blushes, bronzers, lip glosses, lash curler, mascara, make up remover, moisturizer, eye cream, the list goes on. Exclusively for Neiman Marcus, you can get this whole thing for $2000.

The entire list of contents in this make up trunk is after the jump.

UPDATE: Congrats to Buffy for guessing Cindy Crawford!

OK, we need to leave the 80's and get more current here but this super model is one we still recognize as a fashion icon. She is just so fabulous we can all forgive our significant others for lusting over her. Who is this who made the beauty mark truly beautiful?

UPDATE: Congrats, Sarah for guessing Johnny Depp and being chosen as the winner in our random drawing.

novquiz7_bl.jpg

This is a total gimme, just look at his hands. But just for fun we thought we should add a boy in the pop quiz. A hottie boy that would not only look good on my arm but also seems like would be quite fun and entertaining! We have all enjoyed this varied body of work. Who is this who played a high school undercover detective?

The Future of Make Up

ibiza1.jpg

I loved the Fifth Element starring Bruce Willis and Milla Jovavich, my favorite scene was when Milla pressed her eyelids against a Chanel compact and presto, perfect eye make up in a second! I remember thinking that would be the perfect invention and hoping that I'd still be alive to see it and it seems like the future is now! I got a set of this to test you for you beauties and though it is not something I would recommend using daily (nor in daylight at work), for special occasions or girls' night out it'd be fun to use, especially for Beauty Snobs in training who have yet mastered the art of the eyeshadow brush or for those nights when you only have 2 minutes to get ready!

Color on is a single use applicator with long wearing mineral pigments, the texture resembles cream shadows, you literally press it on and go! The pigmentation is a little thick so you should use your fingers to blend it all in before applying the supplied powder to set it. Some of the colors are kind of garish (orange or zebra stripes anyone?) but the browns (Ibiza pictured above) and grays (noche pictured below) are quite nice. Not that this should replace professional make up done by a make up artist for important occasions such as weddings etc but it is a fun alternative when you want to go out and are pressed for time or have no idea how to do your own make up. And again, I would not use this during the daylight or to work as it is quite heavy. $16 for a pack of 5 at Color On Pro- Instant make up website.
