Honestly, what first caught my eye about Poppy King’s Lipstick Saint was the packaging. It’s amazingly cute and retro. I was browsing Vivre.com and had to click on both the Sinner and the Saint versions. One is an opaque lipstick (Sinner) and the other is a sheer lipstick (Saint). I ordered the Saint as I’m not a huge fan of lipstick and the sheer colors looked so pretty! They both come in the same five different colors – Natural, Pink, Wine, Rose and Red. If you’re feeling creative you can mix and match and layer these colors to create your own shade. If any of you are wondering what to get me for Christmas, (Hint to friends and family that read this!) I would be totally thrilled if I received this Fresh Sugar Star Treatment Gift Set. Nude is a new line from England that is all organic and biocompatible, meaning all the ingredients are ones your body can recognize. This process allows your body to react naturally to deliver greater results. One of the qualities that sounds most interesting to me is the protection of our skin's acid mantle. Easier for me to quote their pamphlet:

"In addition to damage from the outside world, skincare products ordinarily remove the acid mantle, leaving the skin vulnerable. The microflora become imbalances which leads to subclinical irritation. The body respond to this irritation by creating free radicals and a collagen digesting enzyme. The result is premature aging of the skin."

Most beauty products are now aware of the importance of organic ingredients but I like the fact that this line was created with that in mind at its inception. There were so many great products that I loved but the one that I was most drawn to was the Smoothing Body Refiner to reduce stretch marks. I have been using the Decleor Vitaroma Body with great results, but hey, I am addicted to beauty products and will always try the next best thing. And good thing I did because I love it! I've only been using it for 2 weeks but I love the texture and the smell so the act of applying this gel (it is between a gel and a cream) is incredibly pleasing. My only interest and expectation is that this smooths my stretch marks and weird tummy wrinkles caused by pregnancy but this supposedly will break down fat cells and contribute to weight loss. A clinical test involving 80 women in a controlled environment found that this product alone, without changes in diet or exercise, resulted in an average weight loss of 6 pounds and an overall loss of 1 1/2 inches over the period of 6 weeks. I am always skeptical of those claims and like I said, I only expect surface results but that would be a nice bonus! I will keep you posted on how things go. I usually find Lush products to be a total hit or miss. They’re either over the top smelly and I can’t even keep them in my bathroom or I totally love them and get super upset when I run out. Honey I Washed the Kids falls into the second category. I’m sorta in love with this soap. It’s made with honey and is incredibly moisturizing. It leaves my skin so soft and smelling slightly sweet. I use it after a particularly rough weather day and my skin always bounces back to normal. Sometimes the cold weather takes more of a toll on my skin then the hot weather and I find that this soap makes it all right again. One day, when I was a young journalism student in college my professor got up and announced that the printed page would one day be obsolete. He swore that in twenty years we’d all be reading all our books and newspapers on handheld computers. I almost cried, the thought upset me so much. I couldn’t imagine reading a book without holding it, or reading a magazine without smelling the perfume ads. I just finished reading my first online magazine and I’m here to tell you it’s not that bad reading online! I still hope that the printed page never goes away but in this day and age you have to embrace technology right? Anyway, enough with my rant! You should all check out Chic Today and read their online magazine Fashion and Beauty Issue. It features, among other articles, hysterical short stories by Snob pal Kristopher Dukes and a totally amazing article about female Superhero fashion and how it might be influencing the runway today. (You caught me, I’m a totally nerd who is obsessed with the television show Heroes!) The magazine is a little hard to navigate – Tip: To flip the pages click on any of the corners. I just heard that the FDA will be recalling Jan Marini's Lash serum! Boooooooooo! I threw mine away this morning per the suggestion issued last week:

Eyelash product recalled

A product that claims to extend the length of your eyelashes, called Age Intervention Eyelash by Jan Marini, was recalled this week. The FDA fears that it may cause vision problems in consumers, because it contains a drug that causes increased pressure in the eye. In studies, this drug has been show to increase hair growth (hence its use in a eyelash-growing product). The FDA says that some consumers have experienced decreased vision, and that those who already have elevated pressure in the eye could be especially at risk.

If you own the product, the FDA recommends that you throw it out and contact your doctor if you've had any related health issues.

Bella Sugar reveals her Beauty Bloopers!

I am YSL obsessed, from vintage smoking jackets to this season's must have belted dress (not to mention the fab line of YSL bags), I am a YSL girl through and through. So when the house of Yves St. Laurent launched a new fragrance, I was first to jump on board to try it even though I am not one to seek new scents (I am a die hard Creed Millesime girl, it's all I have used for years and though I like buying perfume, most just sit on my counter as decoration!).

The first day I got my YSL Elle set I put the Eau de parfum on my wrists and neck, just to test out how it will wear on me. At first it was a bit strong but immediately settled into my skin. An aggressive nose with a heady floral scent (Peony – Pink Berries – Patchouli) combined with a slightly mysterious woody flavor, I was a bit overwhelmed. But as the hours wore on, it became warm and sensual, lasting almost the entire night. This is one sexy scent!

I gave the Shower gel to our Tot Snob Editor, Jori, and she reported that it was way to Gardenia-ish (but I love Gardenia!) so this is not for the girl who is afraid of smelling like a fragrant garden. The lotion fared quite well on me, almost like the perfume but a bit less aggressive. Overall, I like the new Elle scent from YSL, especially for our young and hip Beauty Snobs who not only want to be seen in the latest purple YSL Downtown bag, but also smell like the chic YSL girls in the ads. My advice is to use the lotion on a daily basis and save the perfume for evening or use use sparingly as a little goes a long way (I layered the lotion under the perfume this weekend and it lasted almost 12 hours- so you can go from work to play smelling fabulous!!) Definitely worthy of a try.... or would make great Christmas presents! The urban sleek bottles in sensuous violet hued glass are irresistible but it is the complicated notes of woody floral that will keep you coming back for more. I’ve always supported St Jude’s Research Hospital. I think they’re a really well run charity with a really great cause. (St Jude’s covers all the costs for children with catastrophic diseases to come to their hospital/ research center and get care and treatment.) I’ve also always supported Saks so I was really excited to see the two come
together this holiday season for such a great cause. They’re running a few really great programs that give you a variety of ways to support the charity. The first thing they are doing is selling an adorable book called Snowpeople ($16.99). It’s the tale of “…inquisitive snowpeople in search of their own identity…” They stop at Saks along the way of course! It’s a great gift for kids and two dollars from every book goes to St Jude’s 2007 Thanks & Giving Campaign. I’ve already ordered this book for all my friend’s children!

Sean “Puffy” Combs claims he knows how a woman should smell. That was the statement he kept giving out when promoting his fragrance line. There was a huge media hoopla over the racy ads when he launched, but I didn’t really take much notice. I figured it was probably decent – he’s a smart business man and I figured he lent his name out to a great perfume maker. Well, I was browsing through Sephora the other day and came across the Sean John display and decided to have a whiff. It was gross! Apparently Puffy thinks we should all smell the way the old dresser in the basement that your grandma keeps quilts in does. Seriously, the perfume smells like a citrus dryer sheet gone wrong. My roommate who was with me and the salesperson who saw me gag when I smelled it both agreed. This was nothing to be impressed by and definitely nothing to ever purchase! Holy beauty heaven!! Looks like Santa has done his market research and created the most awesome beauty set the world has ever seen! I mean, who wouldn't want a luxurious pink leather trunk filled with everything you could possibly want from Bobbi Brown? It's like going to the Bobbi Brown counter and taking home their entire display (but brand new and unused of course).
