Deck the Halls with loads of lip gloss!

So I was starting my holiday shopping early this year (read: I was bored and shopping online) and came across the neatest thing! Cargo, one of my many favorite makeup brands, made gift tags that have a lip gloss built right in to them! They are the neatest little add-ons to a present. I know I would be totally stoked to receive a present with lip gloss attached to it in such an inventive way! There is only one choice in color but it’s a very pretty shimmery berry color that will look great on most people. The best thing about these tags is that 100 percent of the profits benefit St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. I would have brought them anyway but it makes it even better that they are helping such a great cause! All my girlfriends are getting these gift tags this year! $7.50 for a set of five at Sephora.com (They also have actual cards with lip gloss in them!) CARGO GlossyGreetings™ Tags 5 tags

Manicure's Best Friend

As a part time bartender my hands get gross sometimes. I try to get regular manicures to keep up appearances but sometimes it’s a hard schedule to keep up. In between manicures I try to regularly use Bliss Manicure’s Best Friend. It’s a great cream that hydrates skin and keeps your cuticles ready for trimming. It’s good to use because if you don’t moisturize around your nails regularly, manicures can be downright painful. I rub this in every morning after I get out of the shower and every night after bed. Your fancy manicure will go to waste if it looks silly because the skin around the nails is red and aggravated. It’s a small price to pay for great hands. $18 at Sephora.com Bliss Manicure's Best Friend 0.5 oz

Everyone can be a rock star!

I’m always on the run and I never get enough sleep. Because of this I’ve had to learn beauty tricks to mask my often tired face. While your first line of defense should always be a good foundation, you can’t live by that alone. Shades of pink and gold will often brighten up your skin and leave you looking far less haggard. I recommend pink in the corners of your eyes to brighten them up. (I promise. It sounds weird, but it really works.) I just discovered the Rock Royalty Palette from Tarte. It’s a soft pink blush with two different shades of bronzer / highlighter. It’s the perfect combination to brighten up your face (and day!) I recommend using the pink on your eyes and cheeks and highlighting it all with the gold. I always underestimate what a good bronzer will do for me. Tarte is a great company and they make really quality makeup. $30 at Sephora.com Tarte Rock Royalty Palette

Dior Limelight Pendant Lip Gloss

B_40137.jpg

This Dior pendant actually belongs in Jewel Snob as it is so pretty! Even better that there is gorgeous shimmering copper pink lip gloss inside! Inspired by a dazzling diamond piece from the Christian Dior Couture collection, this sweet charm necklace features crystal detailing and a dangling Dior logo. It's especially convenient when you want to do discreet touch ups during holiday parties and the many photo ops that ensue. I just got mine and I love it, the gloss is a nice consistency, not sticky but gives lots of shine. There is also a little mirror on the topside of the pendant which makes it even easier to use. I actually tied it to my black birkin and it looked like a cute little charm! Dior Limelight Pendant Necklace $90 at Vivre.

Prescriptives Custom Blend Heaven

foundation_main.jpgpowder_main.jpg

I finally went and got custom blended at Prescriptives and it was one of those things where you ask yourself, "Why didn't I do this sooner?" But more importantly, I asked "How did I ever look right without it?" I got the foundation, powder and concealer blended and many more goodies but let's focus on the custom blend products because they are nothing short of life altering. I am not a big foundation wearer, mainly because I don't always want the "made up" look for everyday. Well, that is exactly what the color_print.pngcustom blended foundation is not, it is meant to look perfectly naturally, like you don't have make up on. They start out by doing what they call a Color Print which determines your undertone. The right base color for you become extremely clear because one will blend in while others appear on all spectrum of the rainbow. So how natural is natural you ask? The way Roger (my amazing make up scientist who blended everything with such precision and skill that I was convinced he has a doctorate degree in this) tested the color on me was to use a Q-Tip and removed strips off my face. Now if you are using a foundation that is not exactly the same tone, color and shade as your skin you will look like a zebra. After he did this, I still looked like the porcelain goddess he made me. Totally amazing! Now you might be asking yourself, what's the point of using foundation if your skin looks exactly like how it looks without it? Well, it simply makes your complexion better by evening out your entire face and covers up whatever blemishes you need to hide (like my freckles). An additional bonus of the custom blend is that you can add treatments your skin needs so that using it actually improves your skin. I added "candlelight" which reflects light particles to make me glow as well as deflect the appearance of flaws and I also got the brightener to help break up the excess melanin in my skin to diminish my freckles. The powder is even more miraculous if you can believe it. Getting powder to match your skin color exactly is truly a science and is much harder to do than foundation. So many crazy colors went into mine to get it to be just right (I admit, I was skeptical when he added turquoise) and the result was pure genius! The greatest part of the powder is that I was able to get it loose and pressed. I like using loose powder at home but on the go in my bag, I have to carry pressed powder. Roger was mortified when I told him that my loose and pressed powder was not always the same. Well, never again, I have the exact same thing in 2 forms. Smart, right? I was also able to add custom treatments to my powder - a moisturizer so that I don't look matte and cakey. I get really shiny during the day and my continuing use of powder throughout the day goes too far and I lose my natural dewiness. This fixes that and gives me the best of both worlds! The concealer is much like the foundation formulation except with a heavier consistency. I have never looked better and needless to say I am extremely happy these days. Foundation is $62, Loose Powder is $45 (comes with a travel size), Pressed Powder is $15 and concealer is $32. Find a Prescriptives counter near you to make an appointment.

Shiseido Fall 2007 Collection: Go Bold

shiseidofall07.jpgshiseidofall071.jpg

Fall into glamour with Shiseido's new Fall collection in bold lips and bold eyes. With richly hued eyeshadow quads to highlight, shape or line, you'll achieve the all important smoky eyes with either "Lunar Phases" or "Desert Winds". I have the "Lunar Phases" on my eyes right now, the black shadow is best as liner with a wet brush and the pale lemon and baby pink shades are highlighters that can take years off your eyes. The result is mod fabulous! My first Shiseido was the black eyeshadow/liner trio when I was in college. My girlfriends would beg to use it but never could achieve the same precise line (I neglected to tell them to wet the sponge applicator or brush, I used to think beauty secrets should be just that but that is obviously not the case now :)Both at Sephora.

Wild Ginger Body Wash

WG%20Body%20Wash.jpg
I’m going to admit it. When I first received the bottle of Thymes Wild Ginger Body Wash I let it sit in my bathroom for a little before I used it. I’d never really been a fan of ginger flavored foods and somewhere in my mind I had convinced myself that I wouldn’t be crazy about beauty products either. The opposite turned out to be true. I loved it! It is one of the most refreshing scents I have ever smelled. It’s clean and crisp with just the smallest hint of vanilla. It woke me right up and kept me happy for the rest of the day. The wash’s ingredients include red clover and honey which work together to keep the skin from drying out. (Super important with the gross cold winter months coming!) It’s $19 at www.thymes.com. This is a new line that I haven't heard a lot about and I can’t wait to try it all!

Chanel does it all!

chanel.jpg
Post by Beauty Snob Michelle

I needed a new face wash this weekend. “Try Chanel” my roommate suggested. “Ha!” I scoffed for no real reason at all. I figured she wasn’t serious. I’ve used Chanel’s makeup a million times but never even threw a second glance at their skincare line. “No really,” she insisted, “I used to use it all the time. I’m actually not sure why I ever stopped.” So I took her advice and got Chanel’s Precision face wash. I’m really, really liking it so far. It’s one of the only face washes I’ve tried that I feel is actually cleansing my skin rather then just coating it with soap. It only takes a small amount of this to work up a lather and clean your whole face and neck. It’s got a light, floral, soapy scent that washes off with the foam leaving your skin clean in every way possible. The best thing about it is that the saleslady told me that if I wasn’t happy with it I could bring it back for a refund! (Which I’m totally not going to do.) I have normal skin and this one works for me but no matter what skin type you have I encourage you to check out Chanel’s skin care line! Chanel Precision - $38 at stores.

Travel in Style with T3 Jet Set and Pink Mini Iron

T3_TheJetSet%20%282%29.jpg

It has been two days since I massaged my hair with the Plump and Boost Products, blew it dry with the Evolution blow dryer, and straightened it with the Duality iron but my hair is still fabulous. There is no flaking nor residue from the products and the last two mornings I have woken up with bouncing beautiful hair! If it seems I am seriously addicted to T3 it is because I am, who doesn't love having great hair day in and day out? I have really exciting news for you but you'll have to wait until the end of the month to find out. Let's just say that some of you loyal Beauty Snobbers will be scoring dryers, irons and products from T3 in November. Is that hint enough?

In the meantime, T3 has launched the Jet Set, a travel dryer in our favorite shade, PINK! Don't let the small size fool you, it packs as much power as the Evolution but the price is substantially less at $130. It also comes with its own travel case so you don't have to worry about it being knocked around in your luggage. The matching pink Mini iron is also a must have for our jet setting beauties. Both available at Nordstrom. By the way, I hope you are planning to come to Nordstrom to meet Orlando Pita and T3 creator Kent Yu today at noon. I will be there, can't wait to meet them and have my hair styled by Orlando! See you soon :)

Hollywood Fashion Tape

I was in a wedding this weekend. I was one of 9 bridesmaids. Do you guys know how hard it is to find a dress that looks good on nine girls of different shapes and sizes? And once you’ve found that dress, do you know how hard it is to find a good tailor? I didn’t. Which is why I ended up with a dress that technically fit, but needed a little help. So Sunday morning I’m hiking up the top of this strapless dress and worrying about how I’m going to dance in this dress when one of the other girls cries “hurrah!” and breaks out the boob tape. To be technical she broke out the Hollywood Fashion Tape, Red Carpet Fashion Assortment and it was a godsend! Its 30 different shapes and sizes of clear tape designed for different uses. There’s big ones for heftier garments and smaller curved ones that are easier to conceal. I danced the night away with not even a little a slip! $8.95 per pack at Beauty.com.Hollywood Fashion Tape Red Carpet Assortment Kit, Clear

T3: The Science of Fabulous

T3_evolution.jpgAfter reading Kelly's review of the T3 Evolution blowdryer I became obsessed with trying it for myself, I ordered it and then decided I needed the T3 Duality iron (to straighten or curl) as well. As I browsed around on the T3 website to see what other fabulous items I must have, I discovered T3 has partnered with Orlando Pita (of famed NYC salon Orlo) to develop a line of hair products! Those of you who have been living under a rock the last few years, Orlando Pita is one of the most talented hair stylists on earth. Seriously, from Supermodels to Oscar winners, he has a client roster that would make the paparazzi weep!

T3_N_Duality.jpgI have always splurged on my hair because I think luxury should start at the top of your head and end at your feet (you spend $700 on a pair of Louboutins, a T3 Evolution blowdryer costs less than half that amount plus you'll use it every single day for many years! How often and how long will you be traipsing in those 5 inch Loubies?). Apparently Kent Yu, creator of T3 Evolution blowdryer felt the same way. It all started when he noticed that his wife would dress in the finest designer clothes, use the best beauty products in the world but finish it all off with a $30 hairdryer from a local pharmacy! He then set out to seek out the highest grade ingredients to create a blowdryer that won't damage our hair, weigh 3 lbs, nor strain our arms. He found the answer in Tourmaline and the rest is beauty history and how could I not participate in a part of that?!?!? I ordered both products (Plump and Boost) along with the Evolution blowdryer and Duality iron and my package came yesterday just in time for the flurry of parties I have on my calendar this week.

T3_boost4.jpgI immediately tested out my new Evolution blowdryer to see what it could do, as Kelly said, it dried hair incredibly fast! I timed it and it took me exactly 5 minutes to dry and style soaking wet hair! I then plugged in the Duality iron, turned it on and it became hot before I had a chance to pick it up- it took a mere second to heat! It then took me about 2 minutes to do what I wanted, which is to create sleek and smooth hair with a bit of curl and body at the ends. What usually takes me 20 minutes now takes me 7 minutes!

T3_plump4.jpg
The T3 products were also amazing ($38 each), I got small samples of the Boost and Pump (one for blowdrying and one for the iron) and both are lightweight, greaseless and made my hair super shiny! I did my hair this morning at 9am and had a packed day of appointments including an opening party for Cartier at 7pm, 10 hours later my hair was in the exact style as it was when I did it thanks to the T3 products! Life is good when you have good hair days and I plan to everyday with my T3 tools and products.

Even more exciting is T3 creator, Kent Yu, and Orlando Pita's visit to Dallas this Friday, I am scheduled to have my hair styled by Orlando and I am so excited I can hardly contain myself! I will also be interviewing him so stay tuned! Those of you lucky beauties who live in Dallas should stop by Nordstrom on Friday between 12-5 pm, Orlando and a T3 stylist will be on site to give complimentary styling!

Until then, you must order an Evolution dryer ($300) and Duality iron ($160) (voted best beauty product by Allure) today! Or try the original Featherweight dryer, it's $200 and also voted best beauty product by Allure magazine (how many other beauty companies can boast two products voted the best by the beauty bible? Trust us, it will be the best money you will ever spend on beauty products. T3 also offers a 4 year warranty on all of its products so what are you waiting for? Buy it online here or join me at the Dallas Galleria Nordstrom on Friday and test it in person!

Shu Uemura Kimono Eyeshadows

indigoblue.jpgkimonoshadow.jpg

The Limited Edition trio of Shu Uemura eyeshadows were inspired by the art and elegance of kimonos. Creator Shu Uemura is a master at blending art with cosmetics and this is one of prettiest eyeshadow palettes this season. Kelly and I both adore Shu Uemura and used to spend hours at their store in Taiwan (I once bought 25 bottles of a foundation they were discontinuing - did I tell you this already? I have a habit of repeating myself) and she recently lost her entire make up bag with her collection of Shu Uemura sable brushes and make up! We were at the studio filming for the TV series "25 most stylish" and she left it in the make up room. I am trying to help her replace her beloved brushes (Some that we have had since college and they are still in pristine condition! At least mine are, no idea where hers are but I am certain there is one happy girl out there).

Anyway, I might surprise her with this treat, shhhhhhh, don't tell!

Available in Ai (vivid indigo blue) Sakura ((frosted pale pink) and Ebi (rich eggplant purple). $20 each at Shu Uemura boutiques worldwide.

Her Glossiness

I’m totally not a lipstick person. I’ll pick gloss any day of the week. In fact, I’m sort of a lip gloss addict. When I saw this new Benefit, Her Glossiness Set I snatched it up right away! Its three different double ended lip glosses in fun light shades that are perfect for fall! They’ve taken the light pinks and purples of the summer and made them darker and richer and totally fall-appropriate! They’ve got a hint of shimmer in them but they’re still subtle. I’m always wary about double ended lip glosses because the one’s I’ve experimented with have almost always leaked. I’m being very careful with them and no leaks so far! $26 at Sephora.com Benefit Cosmetics Her Glossiness Set
