The Science of Skincare: Zelens

zelens.jpgIt is much easier to maintain smooth skin than it is to erase wrinkles, I've been slathering my entire face, neck, and body with lotions and potions since I was 20 years old, mostly using products from name brands at cosmetic counters. Nowadays, there are a plethora of options, it seems everyone has a line of anti aging products, from physicians to hollywood celebs (some worthy some not worth a crap but we'll discuss that in another entry next week) promising everything from "botox in a bottle!" to "erase lines forever!". For women in their '20s, there is a new line of hi-tech skincare that claims to have broken it down to a science from skin cancer specialist Dr. Marko Lens. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to the skin cancer research Lens conducts at Kings College in London, where he is a professor. Composed of 20 active ingredients, extracts and antioxidants, and inspired by a Japanese herbal medicine known as Kampo, the formulas reduce fine lines and wrinkles, repair oxidative cellular damage and rejuvenate the skin.

"It's rare to find a formula that contains so many antioxidants in a hypoallergenic form, allowing a synergistic effect on all ingredients," said Lens, who added that the cream's proprietary liposome delivery system increases the skin's absorption of active ingredients.

A 15-ml. Zelens Intensive Triple Action Eye Cream will retail for $160, while a 50-ml. Zelens Extra Rich Cellular Reconstruction Night Cream will be available for $250. Currently available in London's Space NK stores (scheduled to launch later this month in NY at the Space NK SoHo location as well as stores in Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. In addition, Zelens will be available on the company's e-commerce Web site, zelens.com). I am anxious to try this line as it sounds very promising but we'll see if it performs as claimed, you Brit readers should go check it out and let us know how you like the line.

  • I'm about to turn 20 and would LOVE to see more on preventing wrinkles...I'm discovering the beginnings and it's making me absolutely crazy! Breakouts I can deal with but wrinkles seems totally unmanageable!
