Barbie and I have so much in common, we both ride around on pink bikes (yes I really do own a pink beach cruiser with a white leather seat) and we love Bonne Bell (I was obsessed with Bonne Bell lip smackers when I was 12, I also loved Love's Baby Soft- remember that?). Barbie has been chosen as Bonne Bell's latest spokesmodel with a new line products geared toward young girls aged 6 -9 years old and pre teens. "It will be a girl-focused initiative that will bring fun to the cosmetics category," said Richard Dickson, senior vice president of marketing, media and entertainment, worldwide, for Mattel Brands, the manufacturer of the 48-year-old doll (wow, Barbie has aged incredibly well!).
This is not the first effort of Barbie and a cosmetic line, Barbie and MAC Cosmetics introduced a color cosmetics collection, called Barbie Loves MAC this past spring for adults. The partnership proved to be a smashing success- 70 percent of two months' worth of inventory was sold in two weeks, and some items, including Rocking Chick Lipstick, sold out within days.
The Barbie loves Bonne Bell line will be launched early next year, I can't wait to get the entire set for Kelly's daughter even though she's too young to use it, she can put it on her dolls (pity I do not have a daughter of my own yet, can you imagine what a beauty snob she will be?).

I am a huge Bonnie Bell fan, and spent all of my babysitting money on Lip Smackers. I was sad to discover they don't make the big ones any more!
Yes yes yes, thanks for reminding me it's called Lip Smackers! I actually took a bite of a tube of the bubble gum flavor when I was about 10 years old, it smelled sooooooo yummy I was convinced it would taste good but it was gross and waxy and I almost threw up.
I was in Walgreen's last night and I was drawn to the Bonne Bell display. It brought back a lot of great childhood memories. I, too, loved Bonne Bell in my youth. So strange that I hadn't thought about the brand for year's until last night and then today, you write about it. Loved the write-up.
