Lancome announces a new face

I was watching “Little Children” this weekend and the whole time all I could think about was how beautiful Kate Winslet was. I mean like really, really beautiful. And her character in the book is often described as dumpy and not that attractive. But she looks awesome throughout the whole movie. That’s why I was so excited when Lancôme announced that she was going to be their latest spokesperson. In a world full of Paris and Nicoles, where what’s left of Lindsay’s used and abused body is doing Jill Stuart ads, it really refreshing to see Winslet getting a beauty campaign. Because to me at least, she’s flawless. I don’t want to see some airbrushed stick figure who only got the campaign because she makes the cover of US Weekly every issue. (This is not an issue with US. I in fact love US. I have a stack of them about a year old in the corner of my living room.) I want someone who I can relate to, even in the smallest sense. I want someone like Kate, who I feel I could sit down with over a nice cup of tea and talk about life with and she’d set me straight and tell me to dump the jerk I was dating and not worry if I wanted to eat another piece of cake and I’m totally getting off track. Yay Lancôme! And yay Kate Winslet. I look forward to September when we’ll actually get to see the ads!

  • On the size zero issue, this dress got a typically bitchy write-up in The Evening Standard where they said how lovely it was that Kate Winslet was curvy and proud of it, but really (just for the sting in the tail), wasn't it a shame the way the dress bunched on her hips and made her look fat?

  • you should read all the remarks to this on Beauty Addict blog it's crazy!!

  • gosh i totally agree... when i saw little children i was totally distracted by her beauteosity and grace... she is stunning... when the guy from hard candy turns to her and says beauty isn't everything i wanted to laugh out loud. i love this site too btw it's nice to find fellow beauty weirdos... now i know i'm not the only one using leftover fruit to moisturize !!
