I usually don’t shy away from the sun. When summer comes I lather up with sunscreen and head to the beach every weekend possible. So when I booked my very first cruise last year I was eagerly anticipating stretching out on the top deck with a book and a fruity drink enjoying the soft ocean breeze. What I didn’t anticipate was just how hot the sun is in the Caribbean, how my SPF 65 would barely protect my skin from the sun or how my black hair would hold so much heat that it would actually be uncomfortable for me to sit still. The fix was quite simple. The next time we pulled into a port I brought the biggest, floppiest straw hat I could find. It was great. It kept my head cool and shielded my face from the strong rays. Plus, I felt super glamorous with the brim dipping down low so you couldn’t tell who I was! I love big, floppy hats. However, it’s incredibly hard for me to find a good one because my head is so big! And honestly, when I mean big..I mean that my skull is actually larger than average. Which is unfortunate when one loves hats.. if anyone can point me in the direction of a wide-framed floppy classy straw hat like the one above.. I would be incredibly happy!
