Hide your Cellulite

Can you really rid of cellulite without resorting to the knife? I have a few friends who seemed to think so (and trust me, they all have bikini perfect bodies). They swear by the Pre-shower cellulite scrub and Contouring cellulite cream from Arbonne. I was given a set but have yet to try it myself, there just isn't enough hours in a day for me to do all that I need to do to stay gorgeous! Has anyone tried this before? It's supposed to tone and tighten the skin, giving it a smoother appearance so cellulite is not as noticeable. The bottle says it visually improves the skin so it's not claiming to rid of cellulite completely but it does hide it. Which is way better than having it removed surgically. If you want to try it, call Connie Dieb at 972-345-0015 or email her! Tell her Beauty Snob sent you :) $85 for the set.

Adams Family Goth???

lipstick.jpgFor their fall show, Imitation of Christ had a special lipstick blended up to put on all the models. It was a deep, dark purple that even looked black on some of the girls. People went crazy for it. And for a good reason. It looked striking coming down the pale runway on the pale models. It was also an original spot in a mostly uninspired fall show. Now, Elle.com reported that the custom shade will be available through Smashbox cosmetics for a limited time only. Why? Have we learned nothing from Proenza Pink (which was far, more wearable, but still hard to pull off)? The runways will always provide great inspiration for style, but much like some of the clothes shown, some of the makeup won’t always translate smoothly to real life. Maybe I’m missing something. I can’t think of any occasion that doesn’t involve trick-or-treating that this lipstick would be suited for. I never understood the Goth trend in high school and I still don’t get it now. For those of you who like the bruised lips look, it’s available at smashbox.com for $22.

Remember those mood rings we wore in elementary school? It'd turn red if we were angry and blue if we were happy or something like that? Well, now your cheeks can glow according to your mood! O Glow from Smashbox cosmetics reacts with the chemistry in your body to turn the exact shade that you blush so you'll look sweet as a blushing bride! I just tried it and love it for the day time no make up look. It works on all skin color so whether you're Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic, or African American, you will turn the shade you blush naturally! At Smashbox.com (free shipping for purchase over $50!

UPDATE: I've received emails regarding this product leaving stains on fingers, I have not had this problem as I wash my hands immediately or I use my sponge. As for the color it will turn your skin, I suggest you go to Sephora to play around with it first!

I am a bit surprised to hear it did not work well for everyone else. I am going to contact Smash Box to find out if it is some kind of dye like the Benefit benetint. Will report back to everyone when I find out!

Stallex

So the other day I received a couple of products from the Stallex line, a skin care line created by Park Avenue Dermatologist Dr. Neal B. Schultz. I was excited to try them out, because I had heard some buzz on the line and because among the products was an herbal bruising remedy (which, if it worked as advertised, would be my favorite thing ever!) I also tried their level 3 hydrate and soften lotion. Unfortunately, I thought both of them were gross. I should start off by saying that I have normal skin. Not a lot irritates it. I’m incredibly pale and get a blemish every now and then, but for the most part, it’s completely average.
The first product I tried was the herbal bruising remedy. I noticed it smelled slightly of alcohol, but I rubbed it on a particularly nasty bruise on my leg anyway. It begin to tingle almost instantly, but I wrote it off, hoping it was just working it’s magic. Then the tingling turned to itching and my skin was red where I had put it on. Gross. 25 minutes later and my leg is still itchy. The directions say to apply it to a bruise 5-10 times a day. Great, then you can spend the rest of your day trying not to go crazy from how itchy and dry that patch of your skin has become.

Proenza Schouler save fashion, and the children

the%20dress.jpgIt’s been well documented that I love the Proenza Schouler boys. I love their story, I love their clothes, and even though I’m iffy on their lipstick, I’ll forgive them. Now they’ve taken their growing fame and are using it to help a good cause. Partnering with Lancome, they’ve created the Hypnose Dress, a one of a kind couture dress that is being auctioned off on e-bay to benefit Save the Children. The dress looks luminous in pictures, so I can only imagine how it looks in person. (The type of dress I dreamed about as a little girl - who am I kidding? The type of dress I dream about now!) They designed it with the bottle for Hypnose perfume in mind and every cent from the auction will go to the charity. The bidding is open until April 11th so you have some time left to decide just how much you’d pay for a one of a kind Proenza. So warm up your credit cards and help Jack and Lazaro save the children!

Chantecaille Real Skin

I am addicted to the flawless finish of the Chantecaille compact cream foundation called Real Skin with SPF 15 or 30. I have turned many friends on to this and everyone who's tried it has loved it. Who doesn't love having perfect skin without an obvious layer of foundation? Real Skin is translucent and enhances your natural complexion rather than hide it. You will love the light creamy texture from this gel based foundation. You can use it all over your face or on casual days you can spot as necessary. I love how it gives me the "no make up" make up look. Some of my friends don't even think I wear foundation that's how well it blends in! The compact with sponge makes it a cinch to apply, it's especially great for summer months and while traveling. It's a bit pricey but should last you at least 6 months. At eLuxury for $62

Dr. Bronner Magic Soap in Peppermint

drb_lsoaps_pep.jpg

This is one of my favorite shower gels, it leaves you all tingly and clean plus it's made of all organic and natural ingredients. Dr. Bronner was a hippie who believed in love, peace, and happiness. I have spent many showers reading his many philosophies on life printed on the bottle label (30,000 words on each bottle!). It's quite entertaining if a bit ridiculous (stuff like earth is mother spaceship, etc hahahhaa)! I use the Baby mild on my son, there are no essential oils that may irritate his sensitive baby skin. I get mine at Wholefoods but check the website for a retailer near you. I have the 32 ounce size in my shower and buy the refills by the gallon. Less plastic used, more earth friendly :) Peace and love all
p.s.(I use the Peppermint!!!)

Juicy Couture

I’m normally not a huge fan of Juicy Couture. I like a good color co-coordinated sweat suit as much as then next girl when I’m hanging out inside my house, but I’m close to offended that they have made them acceptable to wear whenever and for whatever occasion. However, when I saw this adorable cosmetics Train Case, I knew I had to have it! When I got up close my first thought was that the plastic covering was gross, but then I realized it’s meant for travel and the plastic allows you to easily clean it when it gets all gross in the airport or train station. I also love the cute little bow and the silver hearts on the zipper pulls. It’s not huge, but it’s big enough to fit most of my beauty needs for a vacation. (Of course, my routine isn’t quite as involved as Tina’s!) It’s $95 and available at juicycouture.neimanmarcus.com

Jamie O - At home Microdermabrasion

jamieomicro.jpg

I received a sample of the Jamie O at home microdermabrasion kit from Jamie O herself last month. We have a mutual friend who loves the product and wanted me to try it. I was hesitant at first because I didn't know if I'd like it and well, you all know how brutal I am when I don't like something but my friend was so certain I'd love it that she told me to be honest and review it as I would any other product. She put me in touch with Jamie and within 48 hours a package arrived at my door, the box was the prettiest skincare package I'd ever seen! Pink with grey trim wrapped in a gorgeous grey ribbon, it was so pretty I didn't want to open it or mess it up. I finally opened it tonight and tried the microdermabrasion scrub and let me just say, "WOW".

jamieopakaging.jpgEvery winter I get regular microdermabrasion facials (from Katrina at Cooper Spa!) but it leaves my skin too vulnerable in the summer so I depend on over the counter scrubs to exfoliate during the hot months. I usually use the Fresh Sugar face polish and La Prairie essential exfoliator but will be adding this to my repertoire. How is Jamie O different from my other scrubs you ask? First of all, the crystals are so fine it felt like the soft sands of the Maldives. And it smelled like a dreamcicle (from the vitamin C). The best part is the lactic acid to put on top of the scrub called the "activator", my face got really hot for about 5 seconds, very science project-ish and kinda scary at first but it went away very quickly. After rinsing it off, my skin was smooth like porcelain. It's very close to the same smoothness achieved with a professional microdermabrasion machine but at a fraction of the cost. At $69, it is less than half the price of a one time microdermabrasion session and will last you all summer. At JamieO skincare.
