Sublime Glow

sublimeglow.jpgMy husband and his friends call me LaRue as I always have a giant hat, a wrap, and SPF60 smeared all over my face and body on the beach. I love a warm glow to my skin but I am deathly afraid of the sun so I have not tanned since I was a teenager. I’ve been faking it with bronzers and self tanners for years and have tried just about everything out there. I even tried the tanning spray booths which gave me a natural and even tan within hours (I joined my husband for lunch after a session and literally turned brown right in front of him which totally freaked him out!) but standing in that dark booth is really scary so I went back to self applied lotions. Unfortunately I am impatient and always leave the house before it’d dry so I’d get sock lines and/or smears on my clothes. I finally discovered L’Oreal’s Sublime Glow last summer and it is by far the easiest self tanner to apply and the least messy. It’s more of a body lotion than a self tanner and the color is a lot more natural. It also gives you an instant subtle shimmer, which I like on my legs and shoulders in the summer. At most drugstores or Target for $9.99

FORGOT TO MENTION THERE ARE 3 SHADES, LIGHT MEDIUM AND DARK. I like the medium but choose accordingly to your skintone. As for the smell, you guys are going to think I’m weird but I like it! It’s not as smelly as most self tanners, it’s a soft scent that I barely notice. I use a pure gardenia oil with Creed’s Millesime perfume so you don’t really smell it.

  1. Thanks Tina for the tips.

Em.. i have been having problems with self tanning lotion – while i am a chinese, i am very very very fair. Actually no matter how long i stay under the sun, i only get red and never really get tanned. so i have been exploring self tanning lotion for my life. however, most of the self tanning lotion tends to be quite yellowish. Is this Loreal self-tanning lotion yellowish in its undertone?

    Thanks,

    Karen HK

    Hi Karen

I am really pale too, although I tan well. It’s not yellowish at all! Get the fair to start with, work your way up to the medium.. it’s a nice light brown glow!

How is the smell once on the skin? THe Dove one left behind a self tanner smell and I just couldnlt stand it! But I have been thinking about trying this one…provided the smell is not “tanny”…

I’ve heard that this one smells horrible, but from the reviews I’ve read, I really wouldn’t care cuz it sounds wonderful! Your recommendation definitely got me interested in this.. never thought I’d ever want to use a self tanner til this post. :] I’m going to pick some up as soon as possible.

  5. I swear by Clarins Liquid Bronze for the face, and the shiseido brilliant bronze for the body.. The shiseido leaves a GOLDEN tan without any orange/red in it, and the clarins is literally just brown/golden as well. This L’oreal is pretty good as well.. =)

    Hi Tina,

I’ll definately give this product a try. Just wondering, does it give your legs a nice sheen? I’ve been trying to find something that does that. Any recommendations?

Hope this is available in Manila or Singapore.

    Rgds,

    Michelle
