More than Diamonds and furs, Asian women covet pale flawless skin, they are obsessed with whitening treatments as having brown spots is feared as much as wrinkles! The women in my family never, let me say that again, NEVER, sunbathe or participate in any kind of outdoor activities that may subject their porcelain skin to sun damage and (gasp!) hyperpigmentation. I, however, thought they were all silly and decided a deep dark tan was the answer to beauty. I spent my teenage years basking in the sun slathered in baby oil which ultimately resulted in unsightly freckles that I've been trying my entire adult life to rid of (ah, the wisdom of youth!). I've tried everything from laser peels to aggressive products from Dr. Obagi with bleach and hydroquinoe that were harsh and dried my skin. All were quick fixes but the minute I stopped the treatments, my freckles would come back twice as dark as before!
I tried Skinceuticals Phtyo+ gel a couple of years ago and I've finally managed to reduce the pigmentation dramatically. Phyto+ is a botanical gel combined wtih kojic acid and arbutin, that work synergistically to help break up hyperpigmentation. It's not a quick fix and it does take a while, but it's gentle on your skin and very hydrating so your skin is dewy and moist all day long. And if you discontinue use, your freckles do not come back darker than before! For Caucasian skin, it will even out skintone and fade hyperpigmentation from sundamage as well. It's most effective when combined with Skinceuticals C+E ferrulic acid during the day and under your moisturizer at night. It's available through dermatologists but I get mine at the The Cooper Spa 214-383-1010 Call to order and receive free domestic airmail shipping when you mention Beauty Snob! Thanks Tina and Kelly!
I am a big fan of SkinCeuticals too! But my favourite has been B5. I have been using C+E, but have not noticed what exactly the difference... can you pin point to me what is your view on C+E and what it does for you?
Thank you so much!! Love reading your blogs!
Luv,
Karen
Hi,
Beautysnob, is the phone number correct? I called them immediately after seeing your post, the receptionist told me she doent know anything about it-_-''''''''''. Asked me to call back later for the manager.
By the way, thanks alot for all your advises so far =)))))))))))))))))
I just tried calling again, and this babe is on the way to be shipped to me now =) Thanks again!!~~
Hi Beauty Snob,
Is this product safe to use below eyes? On top of having horrible dark circles and sunken skin (I'm still in college, science major), in recent years freckles have popped up right beneath my eyes. I didn't really sunbathe as a teen, but I was in band (thus band camp).
I also don't know if it's hereditary because my mom has slight freckles on her otherwise flawless, white, porcelain skin (vs my pimply oily red skin.. why mom, why didn't I get your skin?).
You mentioned Cauc. skin, what about hispanic? I have really light skin tone with some unsightly sun spots and have tried many products with no luck hope this is it????
Thanks for the review. Thank god they have it in Singapore. Will definitely get it soon. Love your website.
I really enjoy reading your blog. I've been a faithful user of peterthomasroth's potent botanical skin brightening gel complex for several years. It also contains kojic acid. Have you tried this product? And if you have, how does it compare to Skinceuticals? Thanks!
ohmigod... I did that in before middle school. then I realized my hands were getting hyperpigmentation. thankfully my face was spared. :P
I am going to go out and get this. This looks as what I have been SEARCHING for!! I even went into a cosult with an esthetician with my doctor's office. They gave me Serum 15 and also talked about obagi. Please tell me what you thought of Obagi!! I am REALLY nervous about that product line because I love the sun, but I hear GREAT results. What do you think??
BeautySnobs! How does this Phyto+ differ from Phyto Corrective Gel?? Like, they sound so alike.. My main concern is acne scars.. and I just want something that will help!!!
