Prada Perfume

I’m a one perfume kind of gal. I usually find a scent and stick to it for a year or two at a time. I ventured out to try some new perfumes the other day to see if I can find another scent I love as much as the one I'm currently using. When I saw Prada’s name mixed in with all the perfumes, of course I wandered over to try it, figuring anyone who makes clothes that pretty must be making pretty scents to match them. I was dead wrong in my guess. Sephora’s website lists it as a “Perfume of yesterday and today.” Well, they’re half correct because it smells like my grandmother’s Jean Nate! I took one whiff and was instantly transported back to her bathroom. I loved it as a seven year old, but as a grown adult, I don’t think I’m ready for it yet. It won Sephora's "Best of Sephora" award in 2006 and I honestly don't know why! Prada also has a sharp edge to it, the kind that makes you wrinkle your nose and instantly pull back when you smell it. Not the kind of reaction I’m looking for. Keep in mind that perfume smells different on everybody, based on their on body’s Ph so what smells like Jean Nate to me might smell like roses to you or someone smelling you!! I’m also curious to know what you beauty snobs smell like. We’re open to suggestions so let me know what your favorite scent is! Prada is available at Sephora for $49. • I like the classics...Caron, Guerlain (Mitsouko), Classic Dior and Classic Chanel (not enamored with their recent releases, though), and Hermes (especially the new Hermesessences).

  • My current fav is Happy by Clinique. It is almost literally the most happy scent I have ever come across. It has been my signature perfume for the past few years.

Until now. Happy In Bloom, a limited edition version of the ever popular Happy, is almost certainly becoming my 'it' perfume!

  • I love DKNY green delic. I felt the same way you did when smelling Prada...to bad huh...

  • the men's version of this actually smells very yummy. i've been tempted to get it for my boyfriend.

for myself, i love slightly oriental florals. my favorites are jo malone honeysuckle and jasmine, marc jacobs gardenia party, and annick goutal ce soir ou jamais. when i don't feel like using perfume i use my kai lotion. mmm.

  • right now, my favorite scent is chinatown by bond no. 9 followed by annick goutal songes. my review for chinatown is here -->http://www.shopdiary.com/2007/01/26/bond-no9-chinatown/.

  • Yuck! I don't like the Prada perfume too. I was so excited when I saw the ads, but was really disappointed. It actually reminds me of Mugler's Angel.... I like Stella McCartney & Vera Wang a lot lot lot better. But my favourite is always Moschino Cheap & Chic (the black & red one) & Iceberg Twice & all of Marc Jacobs. (I think Marc Jacob's perfume is far far better than his lines of handbags.... & clothes...)

  • I have a few which I cycle through. I wrote an article on it a little while ago, & the comments I received were pretty interesting too: http://galadarling.com/article/signature-scents

  • Clive C "X" factor is my fav at the moment ..
A little goes along way . Ummmm I think they have it at bergdorfgoodman.com

    Kisses and Mascara :)

  • i use in love again by ysl. love it.. smells light with a hint of grapefruit.. i heard fruitier scents evoke more youthful images.

  • I'm young, so I like light and fresh scents. Nothing heavy/strong/musky suits my taste (like Chanel No.5). I tend to go for fruits/florals but nothing TOO sweet. I also like to stick to one or two scents at a time...currently being BCBGirls Metro and Gucci Envy Me :)

  • MY FIRST POST!!! :)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Armani Code! Lovely and Sexy! My day scent is Bath and Body Works Magnolia Blossom. I know you're probably turning your nose up at Bath and Body Works, but it smells so pretty and light. I hate when you can smell a scent before and long after someone has entered a room!

  • i've never smelt the women's version but i got my dad the men's version, which smells rlly, rlly nice. i got a sample of it for myself, and it doesn't smell too guy-y.

  • Im young so maybe I just havn't grown into reason but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Prada perfume. For me it completes my upper east side meets Spring street Soho... for me that means Prada and Miu Miu galore! (I never leave home without something from either line!) Maybe it smells good on my because of my natural scent? or maybe I truely am so obsessed with Prada that I have decieved myself into believing this is an amazing scent!

  • I don't like the original Prada perfume much, but the pink (more feminine) version is much nicer. I also love Very Irresistible Givenchy, Chanel, J'adore, Beyond Paradise just to name a few....

  • I love the Prada. It is strong and smokey on me although its feminine and light at the same time. I feel it encompasses my personality strong and deep yet very feminine and old fashioned. It feels classic and sexy all at once and I get men asking me all the time what perfume I am wearing. That should speak for itself. Although perfumes do work differently on everyone so maybe Im just lucky. lol
