Hollywood turns to Philip Pelusi for glossy gorgeous hair on film sets and in print (He is Oprah's hair guru and contribues to O magazine regularly) and so do I! I met Philip last year and he treated me to the best haircut of my life. I have thick straight and very stubborn hair but he somehow managed to make it featherlight with subtle face framing layers without looking choppy as Asian hair can be with too many layers. My friends all have serious hair envy and they've decided I can only allow him to cut my hair from now on as I have never looked better(I'll be seeing him in New York in March!) . Philip was named top 10 stylists in inStyle magazine amongst many other accolades bestowed upon him in his 42 year career. With dozens of salons across the country and many more planned in the near future, he's also introduced a line of ozone friendly, biodegradable Phyto products that you must check out! My favorite is the Refresh H-air dry, I only wash my hair twice a week but with this spray, my hair always looks fresh and clean! Haircuts at Philip's new Tela Salon at Arium(a super cool art gallery, restaruant, club, hairsalon combo in the meat packin district), are from $100-$300 but a haircut with Philip, the Guru himself, is much more, call the salon 212-463-8213 to schedule an appointment and for pricing. Call Vincent, Philip's fabulous executive assistant if you have any other questions about Phillip! 888-263-4720 ext. 218

Those of you who don't live in New York, you can get Philip's secrets and tips on gorgeous hair right here on Beauty Snob! We recently sat with Philip for a quick Q & A:

You've styled a lot of celebrities over the years. Do you have a
favorite?

Queen Noor was so incredibly nice and gracious. Also she is extremely
beautiful. Diane Lane was so smart, beautiful and had a great energy.

Who is your style icon?
Andy Warhol for his wonderful sense of style, talent and creative vision.

What/who is your current fashion obsession?
Audrey Hepburn for everything. Great talent, voice, hair, makeup,
style. I loved her in Breakfast at Tiffany's and also loved seeing her
image back in the recent TV ads.

If you could work on anyone's hair, who would it be?
The late Carole Lombard because she was such a great beauty and is one of my favorite comedic actresses of all time. Also Julianne Moore for her modern elegance. She is one of our new beauty icons.

Are their any current hair trends that you warn to warn our readers to
"Just Say No!" to?

Beware of trends don't look good on everybody. There are many variations of current styles to fit someone's facial shape.

What's your guilty pleasure?
A glass of good red wine.

Do you have any secret talents you want to let our readers know
about?

Photography. Especially photographing great hairstyles.

What song/musician would you consider the soundtrack to your life?
David Byrne and Beethoven.

Do you have a morning routine? If so, tell us a little bit about it.
Cappuccino with a little bit of reading to see what's going on in the
world. Followed by exercise such as jogging.

What's the one food you can't stop eating?
Great French and Italian cheeses. Absolutely no self control.

What are some of your hobbies when you're not cutting hair?
Jazz drums.

Do you have a favorite book?
The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell

Tell us a secret! Any obsessions you want to share?
My obsession is creating products to make women feel beautiful.

Finally, it's cold weather season. Any tips for our readers to keep
their hair in top shape in this brutal, cold weather?

a. In the winter switch to a more moisturizing shampoo. This will help
lock moisture in right from the beginning of your routine.

b. Use an exfoliating shampoo once a week to eliminate dry flakes.
This will also allow more moisture to penetrate the scalp.

c. Commit to moisture. After using the exfoliating shampoo, slather on
a rich deep moisturizing treatment for about 10 minutes while you are in
the shower or leave on while you exercise. This will really help retain
moisture in your hair and scalp.

d. Static is a big winter problem. To eliminate it use a weightless
moisturizing hair groom product. It should be one that can air dry in
your hair. Also apply some to your brushes once a week to keep static
from starting during styling.
