I have a friend. She’s a great girl. She’s beautiful, tall and one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Heads turn to look at her when she walks down the street. There’s just one problem. She’s addicted to tanning. Yes, it’s February,so tans aren’t natural this time of year. Yet she shows up everyday looking like she just stepped off a plane from a month long vacation in Jamaica. Up close her face has an orangish tint to it. It’s weird. And unnatural. And all around gross. I beg you everybody, please, please avoid tanning beds. They’re gross and germ filled and have been proven to cause a certain type of cancer from just moderate tanning. No one is fooled when you show up in February darker than you were in July. They just whisper behind your back about how silly your fake n’ bake looks.
Everybody’s skin looks better with a little bit of color added to it. I’m so pale that the joke is I’m see through. I spend most of my summer weekends at the beach and I’m constantly being told how “healthy” I look. (As opposed to the sickly hue my skin apparently takes on in the winter months?) When the winter blues set in I turn not to the gross UV rays of a tanning bed, but to my favorite makeup company NARS. Their Bronzing Powder is a brown based bronzer with a hint of gold shimmer that gives the nicest, most natural glow to your skin. They’re really lightweight so it won’t feel like you’re loading up on makeup if you’re a full face kind of girl. I’m really pale to start with, so I use the Laguna color, which is a lighter brown. If you have a darker shade of skin to start with, go for the Casino. They both have a hint of golden shimmer in them to give you that sun-kissed glow, on even the dreariest of winter days! Bonus points to NARS for also making the powder avaliable paired and packaged with a complementary blush. It takes all the guess work out of matching your makeup! All avaliable at Sephora for $28 Nars Bronzing Powder

I’ve always heard Nars had the best powder. Thanks for breaking it all down for us.
I have had SEVERAL clients that abuse self tanner and fake and bake machines in the winter. I usually recommend this bronzer to them. The NARS bronzer is one of the healthiest looking, natural bronzers out there.
Hey! Would you recommend guys to wear this too? I’m from Singapore, and am impossibly fair. Think sammi cheng, SKII fair… =) I need help to get a little tanner! Oh yes, I was thinking of switching my skin care to dermalogica.. is it something you would recommend??
thanks,
b.
Certainly! Guys can benefit from the natural glow of this bronzing powder too! What are you using now?
Currently, I use Clarins’ Liquid Bronze that leaves a nice glow, but I like exfoliating my face regularly- every alternate day…so it all comes off… I’m wondering if this bronzer is a little too sparkly..I’ve tried MAC’s, but that was wayyyyyy too sparkly!
I can’t find NARS in Singapore and if still exists in Singapore I would like to know
-Thanks
